SPECIAL CHALLENGES FOR QUARTER ONE 2024:
January: Happy New Year! Sometimes it is hard to Just. Get. Started. Give yourself TEN points for the FIRST page, FIRST card, FIRST crafty project you finish in January.
February: 29-4-29: February we will be playing along with a new challenge with a twist every day for the month. Earn FIVE points for meeting the challenge + a BONUS of TWO points if you meet the twist on the same project. Bonus points may be included in the challenges. Bonus 500 points for completing ALL 29 challenges on or before March 7th.
REGULAR CHALLENGES
WEEKLY challenge
W-1: Sketchy Saturdays. Complete any of the posted Sketchy Saturday challenges for 5 points. Complete ANY THREE of them for a 20 point bonus. Meet TEN Sketchy Saturday Challenges during Quarter ONE for a BONUS of 100 points!
MONTHLY challenges
M-1: Donna Challenge. donna was a Pea who passed away much too soon. We all remember her desire to complete her family scrapbooks at the end. To honour her, we credit photos, scrapped, pages completed and meeting scrapbooking goals. For the Donna challenge, earn
One point per photo scrapped.
Ten points per page created with each monthly theme. Bonus of 25 points for meeting all three themes.
M-2: Paid by the HOUR Challenge.
Whether you craft with paper or cloth, glue and photos or mixed media, yarn or ink: earn TEN points for every hour spent crafting. Double your points per hour if you are crafting with another person, whether in person or on line. When you finish a project of ten hours or more, give yourself a BONUS of ONE HUNDRED POINTS!
Earn TEN points for every hour you spend organizing your crafting supplies or cleaning/reorganizing your craft space
M-3: Card Challenges• Sheetload of Cards Challenge posted by azcrafty . One point per card + TEN points for completing the set. Plus a BONUS of TEN points for meeting each month’s special challenge.

S/I-14 Cliche or Classic? use that overdone image: the red truck with the Christmas tree in the bed, the car with the luggage on the roof, that bicycle with the flowers in the basket etc.
S/I-15 Burst into the New Year - use fireworks or starburst embellishments or paper
S/I-16 You've Got Mail - use an envelope on your page
S/I-17 Bouquet - use flowers on your project
COLOURS/MOODBOARDS
C/M-1 Winter blues--use any shade of blue on your project
C/M-2 Use complimentary colors: Red and green (Christmas!) blue and orange, or yellow and purple.
C/M-3 Use the winter birthstone colors on your project: Garnet, Amethyst, Aquamarine
C/M-4 Use pink
C/M-5 - alter a colour: use markers to change the colour of a die cut, sticker or thicker. Obviously alcohol markers work best!
C/M-6 Incorporate colors of the season of the page you are creating.
C/M-7 Fresh Start - use blue, green, and brown/tan on your project
TECHNIQUES
T-1 Foiled again. Use any method to add some shine to your project.
T-2 Black and white stamping, no color needed
T-3 Direct to paper with ink
T-4 Blend some ink
T-5 Paper piece or use a layered die cut or cut file
T-6 Use a bone folder to emboss some lines or a border
T-7 Use an embossing folder
T-8 White (or light distress oxide) ink on a dark background
T-9 Crumple it! Create texture by crumpling up cs, then using ink to highlight designs. And/orcrumple up plastic wrap, dip it in ink and transfer the design to your project.
T-10 create a PL card
T-11 Use a stencil
T-12 Up-Cycle. Repurpose a card you received or a used gift tag onto another project.
T-14 Pretty little stitches—add real, faux, or stamped stitching.
T-15 Use a sketch
T-16 Modify a card sketch for a layout or vice versa
T-17 S-T-R-E-T-C-H a sketch. Expand a one page sketch to create a double page LO.
T-18 - pop it up - lift an image off the page using pop dots, foam tape, or whatever you use to pop! Pre-made popped items count.
T-19- tear it up - rip a paper edge and let it shine
T-20 - fussy cut an icon/shape
T-21 round some corners
T-22 Use resist stamping.
T-23 Use a pet's paw as a stamp.
T-24 On the Grid. Create a card or page with a grid design.
T-25 Doodle-Do - Use doodles on your page
WORDS/ Titles
W/t-1 Use the name of the month (January, February, or March) on your project.
W/T-2 Name that tune. Use a song title as the title of your layout or the greeting on your card.
W/T-3 Use your words! Journal at least 100 words on your project
W/T-4 Happy Birthday!
W/T-5 Uplifting words. Use the phrase "I believe in you" or similar
W/T-6 Use a place name in your title.
W/T-7 Colourful Use more than 1 color to form your title
W/T-8 use layered die cut letters to make your title
W/T-9- have a clear subtitle on your page
W/T-10- use 3 or more fonts to create a title (I could make this 2 but that's too easy for me. Trying to actually challenge myself)
W/T-11 "You say it best when you say nothing at all" No journaling on a LO.
W/T-12 Stick it.- Use only Thickers or stickers for your title
W/T-13 Use it! Use that 'best day ever' sticker, embellishment, or die cut (can be ironic)
W/T-14 use the word adventure or explore as or in your title
W/T-15 Happy Happy Joy Joy - Use the word HAPPY and/or JOY in your title
W/T-16 Love - Use the word LOVE on your project, either the title or in the journaling
THEMES
Th-1 Document the Merry. Create a page about your holiday celebrations
Th-2 do a travel layout A trip that family took, you took alone or with family
Th-3 scrap a new beginning
Th-4 scrap goals/resolutions/aims/hopes etc...
Th-5 Now and Then - include an old picture and new one on your layout. For example a child's first day of school and one of high school graduation
Th-6 So over it!! Do a Non-Christmas non-winter layout
Th-7 Surprise!! - Did you get a special gift for Christmas or Birthday or just because? Did you get a promotion or raise at work?
Th-8 The Big Birthday - first - 13 (finally a teenager) - 16 (I can get my driver's license now!) - and so on
Th-9 Animals - your pets or just a favorite (currently my son-in-law is fascinated with the cows in the field across the street)

Th-17 Christmas catch up - finish up past Christmas/holiday projects (2023 projects not eligble here, sorry )

NUMBERS/SIZES:
N/S-1 Count 'em up. Include a number in your title or greeting.
N/S-2 scrap a layout in a different size than your usual size
N/S-3 Easy as one two three: Include one of something, two of something else, three of something else
N/S-4 Top Ten - Do a layout about 10 of your favorite things.
N/S-5 One Layer Wonder. Make a CAS card or page with one layer (plus the photo layer on the page)
N/S-6 Double the fun: create a page or card with TWO layers (plus the pic on the page)
N/S-7 Three's the charm. Use 3 layers on your layout.
N/S-8 use a LARGE background shape other than a square - has to be at least 1/3 of your project, so for a 12x12 page you'd need at least a 5" shape
N/S-9- make a big cluster of over 9 items (can count enamel dots; challenge yourself to layer stuff)
N/S-10 First Quarter. Divide your canvas into quarters in any way you like. Now use just ONE Quarter for your crafting (photo, title & journaling if a page; focal image and greeting if a card)
N/S-11 use a paper with numbers all over it as your background paper
N/S-12 2024 - Use the year number 2024 on your page
RECIPES One point per item on each list; five points for meeting the whole recipe.
Re-1 Spell WINTER. Use at least one item starting with each of the letters of the word winter. The letter could come from a brand name, colour, or the item itself.
Re-2 Disneyfy: 1. use a mickey mouse head (punched shape, sticker, whatever) 2. use black and red in big or small amounts 3. use a collection that was designed for theme parks 4. use a balloon shape/sticker
5. scrap a picture that includes a person who isn't friend or family (such as...attendant, strangers on a ride with you, picture with a character)
Re-3 New Year - New Beginnings
1. Use a sun or sun rays to signify a new dawn
2. Use the colour green to signify a fresh start
3. Use a butterfly to signify change and evolution
4. Use an arrow to signify growth and direction
5. Use a torn edge to signify tearing up the old
6. Something shiny or glittery to signify bringing in the new
OTHER:
O-1 Give a card or other creation to someone else.
O-2 Make a card donation.
O-3 Use up a kit or collection that's been languishing in your stash.
O-4 Finish the projects from an online class or retreat.
O-5 Use something from your stash for the first time
O-6 complete a challenge from another site/group
O-7 - be FRUGAL - gut a piece of cardstock or pp you are using as a background. Digi and card making friends, sorry, don't know how to translate this one
