I hope you guys don't mind but I think I need to step away for a couple of days, maybe a week. I've been in quite a funk the last couple of weeks and I'm having a hard time just keeping up with everything. Usually a mood like this doesn't last more than a few weeks so hopefully it'll be lifting soon. But I just can't seem to keep up the communication. Of course we just want the best for you! It's really sweet of you to warn us, so we don't worry.

Today I completed a fairly quick project - converting the bulletin board in my sewing room to a ribbon board. It had gotten buried in stuff so completely cleared it last weekend and the idea of a ribbon board hit me. I ordered the burgundy velvet ribbon and the upholstery tacks from Amazon. The board is an old one from Ballard Designs that was DD's when she was in high school and college. Will gradually start adding stuff back. The top sign says "Someday I'll get organized. Then I'll be really dangerous!". The orange sticker is a good reminder. It says: "Life is short. Use the Good Fabric!".

I think you have really good instincts about how to care for yourself and I'm happy to see you doing so. It's really nice of you to give us a heads up, because so many of us love you and would most def. notice your absence quickly. xoxoxo

My sweater is finished. Photo taken before I sewed in the ends and washed/blocked it, but those are now done and it’s laid out to dry. I can’t wait to wear it! I think this is the fastest I have ever knit an adult sized sweater - less than a month! I have cast on another sweater, this time smaller. It is a test knit for a kid’s wear designer that I really like. I’ve knit a couple of her other patterns and she even asked if she could feature one of them on her instagram, so I was happy to test this for her. It is size 3years, so will be for Lucia.

I have been a tester for some quilt patterns. Enjoy the process.

Thank you all for being so understanding. I had some brain energy this morning, so I've popped in to reply to a couple of threads. I felt pretty good yesterday morning and then as my day went on my mood tanked. So I'm taking advantage of it this morning while I have mental energy. It says: "Life is short. Use the Good Fabric!". I have a friend learning to quilt. She's being taught by one of her neighbors. Yesterday she was working on a square and she said that she was using ugly fabric and I said nearly the same thing to her. Life is too short to not cut the "good" fabric. I'm basically a beginner too and making mistakes left and right, but I'll only improve with practice and I'm playing with the pretty stuff. Who knows, one of my quilts might come out a masterpiece and then if I've used ugly fabric, I won't love it.

I finished my prayer shawl. I mentioned earlier that I got this yarn (Lion Brand Scarfie) on clearance & used Michael’s rewards points so I got it for free. This worked up super fast and the yarn is so soft.

Good morning! I was up past my bedtime last night, then had trouble falling asleep. But of course I was up at 5 just like clockwork. Apparently I'm starting 2024 with a crazy headache and stuffy nose too. Boo! Hiss! But I'm pretending like I was just too excited to work on my quilt today to sleep. Better than gifts at Christmas really. I got all my triangles done. Now the test of my skill will be if I can sew the blocks together right. That's how I'll know I did a good job making the triangles. I'm nervous to see how it comes out. Once Jeremy gets out of bed, I can go in and press them. I have decided I need to do a no spend on crafty stuff for quite a while. I have so much just sitting in my stash waiting to be used. I want to try hard to finish up some projects that have been hanging around way too long. Has anyone heard if the Tackle That WIP thing is going on again this year? I feel like I need her little chart... 😂 I fell right off the bandwagon last year. Anyone else feel compelled this year to stop the spending and/or tackle older projects? I'm kinda late to the party...and I think I've more than made up for your lack of spending. I will keep the economy rolling! I've decided to jump in with both feet and start crafting with polymer clay. Mostly earrings but there will eventually be trinket dishes and possible barrettes and who knows what else. And I think this is finally a craft I would enjoy going to markets and craft fairs to sell. I asked for a pasta maker (to condition and flatten the clay) for christmas and I've been stocking up on clay and cutters and all the things. My first couple batches were Valentine themed and I gave some to my BFFs and took the whole batch to Bunco to give them to the girls there. I think they were well received and one gal was insisting to pay me and I kept telling her no, but she figured out my Venmo and sent me $$anyway.
