I reeaally hate the pleather look and would be willing to put in a ridiculous amount of effort to fix the album so I can avoid it. Depends on the construction of the album, but I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible to remove the plastic and replace it with fabric. Virtually all albums use chipboard/compressed greyboard as their core cover. You can look up book restoration tutorials on YouTube, the process of stripping a cover and replacing it should be similar.

I much prefer bookcloth to "pleather" or whatever that vinyl substance is called. My Creative Memories bookcloth albums from 1997 still look like new. I switched to the WRMK albums only because I got tired of strap hinge albums and not being able to move pages around easily. I wish we had better alternatives.

I guess I’ve lucked out so far, I have some from 2015-2022, and I’m sure earlier but don’t have proof of purchase for those but between 2010-2022. And they all look new. Perhaps because my house almost never gets above 65 degrees?
My long term goal was the CTMH Legacy albums, but that’s not an option any more. I prefer completed albums in the hinge, working albums in D-Ring.
