Welcome to Media Mayhem. My name is Bree, and I'll be your host on this media exploration adventure. In week #1 we'll be tackling print media. You could scrap about a book, a pile of books, a book you want to read, what you read last year, a bookcase, someone reading, a bookstore, a library, things you would find in a bookstore or library, or how about an article, wedding announcement, or recipe clipped from a newspaper or magazine. Anything that has to do with words being printed and published counts. Card makers: use a paper with text printed all over it as your background. The twist: use mixed media-- the messy stuff that doesn't belong on print media-- on your page: mists, sprays, ink stains, paint, glitter, Cheeto fingerprints, coffee ring stains etc. Example #1: Priscilla by BreetheFlea, on Flickr In this example, I saved the dust jacket off of one of my childhood books and used it on a layout. Example #2: Library Card by BreetheFlea, on Flickr I wish someone had taken a photo of me when I got my first library card, in the 80s, but at least I remembered to take photos of 2/4 of my kids on their big day... Have fun, I can't wait to see how you tackle this challenge

This is a fun challenge, breetheflea. I think I need to scrap a couple of book club pic's I have... And use some of those little bottles and jars I have staring sadly at me... And awesome samples! Off to give them a closer look on Flickr.

What a fun challenge! I've already decided what I'm going to do for this page - it will be similar to your Priscilla page.

I decided to do my own challenge, with the twist Jolabokaflod means book flood in Icelandic. We're not from Iceland but decided a few years ago to adopt the tradition of eating chocolate and reading books on Christmas Eve. The journaling is in a pocket, but basically says that this year we did books, chocolate and I made everyone a personalized coffee mug and the kid in the photo was very excited to unwrap stuff! Papers and stuff are from Simple Stories (Baking Spirits Bright) and from Pinkfresh. Messy splatters are from Heidi Swapp Colorshine... I think I got more on me than on the page... Another really cool page on this theme, breetheflea ! Eating chocolate and reading is one of my favourite passtimes, ANY time of the year ! And I have to say... "Now you've done it"... Will have a take on this challenge by the end of this week. Decided to go with cookbooks b/c I have some photos. I just did three layers of stenciling on black cs, using inks and pastes. Making more of a mess scrapping about cooking than made by a ten year old cooking LOL.

It's a fun tradition, and this year I remembered to buy myself a book, and actually got to read a little. I can't wait to see your page when you finish it

Here is my take on this challenge. It's about a cookbook, but I did manage to throw in a couple of literary quotes from the branding strip on the Authentique pp. Now You're Cookin by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And i got the twist! Ink and two different pastes through stencils. You can see them better on the second page.

When I was in 3rd grade, I read the first Boxcar Children book and didn't know a box car was part of a train and not a driving car... Your story is cuter though

I hope this one counts - no twist for me though.
