What a wonderful update! I'm glad that your daughter is doing well growing three humans simultaneously and that she has lots of support. It will definitely take a village once the babies are born.

Oh, this is so exciting! And to have identical girls?!! Better get some different color nail polish for them to use on their big toe until they can tell them apart. LOL
I wish you and your family the best! This is going to be a fun ride!

Congratulations. This is bringing back my twin grandsons being born. Such an amazing time. They were 3 and 4 lbs at birth. DD and SIL lived with us, so I was part of the “team”caring for them, it was incredibly bonding. Those little babies turn 16 tomorrow.
I’m so happy for your family.

Congrats to your DD and to you as the grandma to be! It must be very exciting to be welcoming triplets - I was beside myself with only one for my first grandchild! She found out the genders: Two girls and a boy!!! The girls are identical. I once taught a girl (6th grade) who was one of identical girls in a set of triplets like your DD's. Her sister could easily have come to my class and I wouldn't have known! They were all lovely kids.

Her pregnancy is so reminiscent of mine. I was due Oct. 13th, and delivered via emergency c-section on September 1st. I started complete bedrest at 20 weeks (I found out at 15 weeks), and my baby shower was in June also. So fun on the genders. We never knew if they were boys/girls. They thought two girls and a boy but ended up identical girls. Being only 5 feet "tall," they were so squished they could never tell. We had 6 names ready to go thankfully. Then it was off to NICU to attach names to actual babies. Have fun. It was always a fun and exciting time for all of us too. My nurse that came to check on me at our house each Monday morning always said I was her favorite patient because I never complained and was always excited. We became very dear friends through that.

Holy COW .... Triplets!! That is amazing and YES also scary..... Praying for a great pregnancy with little/no complications. Would this be the first for 2 peas? Are there any other triple moms/grandparents? ETA: Never mind.. totally remembered Patter has triplets.. I thought I remembered somewhere in the back of my head, we had one pea that had triplets.. After reading all the posts.. I had to come in and say I have a Z kid too!! Zack! Don't know why I have loved having a Z named baby... and apparently I spell it different from the traditional way, Zach. I love my Zack spelling.

There's even a Z in one, so that's great for my lonely Zs in my alphabet stickers and stamps. Came to check in as I saw your other post. Z names are the best. My husband is named A - Z. So we named our daughter Z - A. At one point she was going to be Avery Zane then we found a different name that we really liked. My husband's grandma called him Zach. That's what everyone called him when he was a kid. No one knows why. Anyway, we had already been dating for a couple of years before I met he. When she called him Zach, I was like, What? Who's that? Have so much fun with this. I'm so glad you can be there to support whatever she needs. Instant family there.

It sounds like the pregnancy is moving along beautifully! Congratulations! I hope you're able to post photos and names once she delivers. I love seeing squishy baby pictures! I completely understand the need/desire for privacy, as well.

Congratulations!!! Say, how about a 2 peas diaper shower? What do you think, wordfish ? I bet we could be of significant help in at least this aspect. You are so very sweet to think of this and I am really touched by your kindness. I'm sure my daughter and son-in-law would be very appreciative of just the idea. My hesitation is that I can't figure a way to do it that would preserve their privacy, and I also have seen a lot of well-meaning offers like this take a turn that is not good--not because of kind people like you, flanz. I don't mean that at all. Quite a few people here are FB friends so my daughter's name is not really private, and her triplet announcement and updates on her own social media are also public. Maybe if it gets closer to the date I could share the registry if she is okay with it? I was just telling her she needs to put more diapers on her registry, so this was kind of funny to come over and read not long after. Experienced moms know the deal when it comes to diapers. She had like 4 packs of diapers on it and I thought "that'll last about two weeks, kid." Really, though, I think they are okay and I don't want to make anyone here uncomfortable. I'm very touched by your thoughtfulness and I know my daughter would be also. Thank you so much, flanz!

Okay, here is another update. Tomorrow is the beginning of week 22. So far everything is going well. The baby shower is in about three weeks, I think. My daughter gets a full ultrasound scan every other week. She told me that she has the same tech each time, who happens to be a male and it's the only scan he does the whole day, I guess because of all the measurements and stuff they have to do afterwards. She also has to have some sort of cervix check during the ultrasound, and a female tech comes in and does that. She told me that she told the female tech "Did I tell you I'm having two girls and a boy?" The male tech said "Everyone in the whole office knows that." Hahahahaha. That still makes me laugh.
This is still so crazy. She sent us a video of the ultrasound this past Monday. The boy is the biggest baby, and the girls are doing well but one is a little smaller than the other. Still all okay so far. My daughter is doing great, still very excited. Fortunately these three babies are being born to some super planner parents. They are definitely plan-making people, and my son-in-law was an Eagle Scout and is an engineer. They are working on getting organized. I'm looking forward to being there in about three weeks and giving my girl a big (gentle) hug.

I believe it is easy to set up an Amazon Wish List without revealing personal details. I've purchased from "Mrs. T's classroom Wish List", for example. Your DD could put a lot of diapers and other essentials on there and if I'm correct, you could share the link here and anyone who wanted to could participate. If set up correctly, we would not see your DD's name or address. It could be called Grandma Wordfish's Diaper Wish List or something like that.

I always had the same ultrasound tech so that the measurements were consistently measuring the same. And, of course, you need someone with the experience. There will be a weekly meeting with the high risk team and your DD is VERY much the topic of discussion. That’s great that she has a female tech do the cervix check. It’s very personal! best of luck!

Congratulations! I also missed this first time around.
My sister had triplets 34 years ago. She was due in June and around Christmas was put on complete bedrest. In March they admitted her until she delivered. That was May- she made it 35 weeks. All babies were around 5 pounds. The only thing I wanted to tell you is that my sister was in the hsopital for 8 weeks and it was a teaching hospital. She had SO MANY docs/residents coming to to see her that she finally lowered the boom and said NO ONE comes in but the doc. Remind her she has the power to restrict who comes in her room when the time comes. It helped my sister's mental health at the time to not be a specimen/spectacle.
Best of luck!!

I’m just jumping in to say congratulations and I’m excited for you. ❤️
I used to joke (since my oldest kid was colicky and crabby) that I’d be under the bed drinking vodka if I had to deal with 2 of her. She also just turned 30 and I’m going to visit her on Wednesday so no matter how hard it is, we get through.
Your daughter is going to be an amazing mom. And you’ll have so much fun with them!!

How fun!! Congratulations on your blessings!! 2 girls & a boy... he'll have his work cut out for him when they're all older! Hehe
I love that you had a "practice" grandchild. I have one too, sort of. My SO's DD has an almost 3 yr old. We have been together 9 years and it was hard for me to figure out my role in his life. Since we're not married, I didn't just assume that I'd be a "grandma". She doesn't have a relationship at all with her mother, and I've always been really careful to not seem like I wanted to take the place of that mother/daughter relationship. Anyway... I'm Nanny... HOPEFULLY that will evolve to Nana as he gets a bit older! LOL

6/18 update. Yesterday was 26 weeks. My daughter and the babies are all doing great, though she may have to start iron infusions this week. She's going for blood work today to confirm her anemia status. We had the baby shower weekend before last and it was a whirlwind of a weekend in San Diego. My husband and I were the first to fly in early on Friday morning, and we spent the day with our daughter, just the three of us. We went to her favorite brunch place, then walked around the little downtown where she lives. A little shopping at her favorite store (I like it, too), where I picked up birthday gifts for the two sets of twins whose birthday we were celebrating that weekend. Then we went to Costco, where my daughter decided she wanted to take advantage of our large rental car to acquire a freezer. We were actually there for shower flowers (mission accomplished) and to pick up something for dinner, as she was expecting at least a half-dozen more guests to fly in by late dinnertime that night. Anyway, her dad and I wrangled the freezer and that is now downstairs in her garage. The shower was a fun whirlwind. Her sisters hosted it and I broke out my Cricut for the first time and made a banner. A bunch of banners, actually. We assembled some of the banners that morning, and there were three diaper cakes and other baby shower things. I won the "who knows the parents best" game but of course donated the prize. I just wanted to win the game The C-section is scheduled for the first full week of August, assuming she makes it that long. The next big milestone will be in 2 weeks, when she reaches 28 weeks. The nursery is all completed. Her sisters stayed through Monday last week and built shelves in the garage to hold the diapers they will be stocking up on, and moved all sorts of furniture around for them. The next time we see her should be "go time" for the babies. My husband will be staying in San Diego for at least two months. I can stay that long (longer) if I'm needed, but honestly my husband should be able to handle it after the first few weeks, so the plan is for me to come back for a month or so, then go back when the babies come home. Not long after that, the other grandparents should arrive and they plan to stay indefinitely to help (they are older and retired now). In between all that, my other two daughters plan to come out often to assist. I'm thinking we'll go back at Christmastime also and just have a California Christmas. Our Airbnb was great; I would definitely stay there again. Here are some photos: OG family at the shower venue IMG_4247 by Seanna., on Flickr One of the three diaper cakes IMG_4149 by Seanna., on Flickr Next-day birthday celebration at our Airbnb.
