Worst: cleaning bars. The bathrooms. Nuff said.
Best: Small candy store that made all our own candy from scratch.

I could be down with that for about a week. Then I’d have to quit because I think if I went home smelling like chocolate every day I would eventually get sick of the smell and that would just be wrong, LOL. After DH and I quit working at the pizza place, I think it took about a year before we could eat pizza and actually enjoy it again.

My worst job was the early morning shift at a small diner in a small town where our cabin was. My dad got me the job. I didn't want to live at the cabin all summer and sure as heck didn't want to get up at 4 am. I liked waitressing, but half the staff was really mean, because they hired a girl from the city. I really don't blame them for being mad about that. Thankfully, I got fired.
My best job was my project engineering job that I did for 37 years. It was amazing, until we got bought out by a soulless corporation.
My weirdest job was selling wigs in a discount store!

Hahaha, my mom had little poodles and they would go nuts when I walked in because I reeked of chocolate! But it was better than when I worked at the Birds Eye broccoli processing plant the year before, coming home totally reeking of broccoli was nasty!

Best - working at a small ice cream shop where the owner made his own ice cream. I worked there all through high school. LOVED it! Had so much fun with the people I worked with.
Worst - lasted less than one day, a job in old Vegas at a souvenir shop. A guy came up to me and basically trapped me in the racks to flash me. The co-workers did nothing but watch. Bye, I'm outta here.

Worst: Chuck E. Cheese. Where to start? It seemed pretty gross to me, and now I understand why we didn't go more as kids; a coworker constantly complained about having to spend weekends with her only child (like she was an inconvenience to her -- that poor child); oh, and having to dress up as a smelly rat. Including on my first day. One of the managers came up to me and said, "We need you to go get suited up." "I don't know what that means..." "It means you have to be Chuck E." "Oh." How I lasted there a summer break, I'll never know.
Best: I really like my job right now. I meet a lot of awesome people; the work that my coworkers and our field as a whole inspire me every day; I get to have a lot of creativity in my job (I'm the only one who's really ever held the role in the capacity that I do), so it's a big learning experience; and I'm always learning something new from the core team that I work with.
Other: DH and I worked together for about 3 years. Same school within a university, but different departments. Occasional overlap if his boss needed something and my coworkers were nowhere to be found (which happened more often than not), and everyone was expected to be hands on deck for the school's commencement ceremony. He and his boss planned that, but I always helped out. For the first few months, we were at different campus locations, but eventually he and his boss got moved to my campus, so we worked a few cubicles apart.
I was also a cashier at Office Max and Cracker Barrel throughout college and grad school; my first non-baby-sitting job was a few months at the local library.
Edit: How could I forget! I was also an RA in college/grad school for 3 years. That was an interesting job, to say the least. I had some crazy residents, helped the campus police arrest someone (sorry for the scare on that one, mom!), became fast friends with the campus cops, tried to make a difference in college kids' lives, got my first 2 semesters of grad school paid for, and met DH. Among other stories I'm sure I'm forgetting now.

Worst job: Meenan oil. It was 5 min from home and all my friends worked there. We were seniors in HS. You had to cold call people and try to sell them oil. I HATE the phone and I HATE forcing people into things. I went out for my break the 2nd night and drove myself home. lol Awful job! Best job: my current one. I've been a newborn photographer for 13 years and I get to hold 5-6-7 day old babies all the time. I also make my own hours, work as much or as little as I'd like and answer to only myself so, that's been swell.

Worst job: walking beans!
2nd worst job: hotel maid
Best job: I enjoyed working part time at a community college library.
Best teaching job: My current job. I teach at a middle school. I have had the same position for 16 years. It started as computer applications and has transitioned to computer science. I love the content area, and I love the age groups. Except 6th grade. 6th grade is hard.

huskergal What do you do when "walking beans?" Walking beans is walking up and down rows of soybeans removing weeds. Some people got to use a corn knife to chop weeds. I pulled weeds. We did have older guys with corn knives that would chop milk weeds that were impossible to pull. Started early in the morning. The beans were damp from dew. Jeans got soaked and itchy. Get assaulted by deer flies. Not fun. Not fun at all.

I think your current job would be pretty fun since the teeny little ones mostly just sleep, and I love the creative newborn baby photos people do these days. 🩷

I hate them so much! We have a hunting place where the deer flies are really thick in the spring and summer. I try to avoid having to go there like the plague!

It was a few weeks in the summer when I was like 13 or 14. I did it for 3 summers. I walked beans when I was a bit older to help out, but I went in the evening. It was much better. Beans were dry and the deer flies aren't out.

huskergalOMG-- that would be an AWFUL job. Glad I have never had to do that. I've had some crap jobs on the farm but not that. I used to joke (though there is truth in it) that I went to college so I didn't have to milk cows, shovel sh** or haul hay ever again.
