After this year's 9th grade class, they will be getting cheaper pencils. I cannot believe how destructive they were But great find! Golf pencils.

I don’t post often but I’ve read your posts about teaching. I’m glad you’re retiring! I’m jealous! Teaching is my second career so I have 8 more years. You must feel so good! To be clear, I am not eligible for state retirement yet. I would have seven years more and that's not happening. We've never planned on SS or TRS being available for retirement, so it's not an issue. I am dependent on my state retirement, so 8 more years. I’ve been fortunate that last 7 to be at a good school with amazing admin. Unfortunately, our principal is retiring next year and I’m afraid the AP will go, too. She’s had a rough year with some really awful students. As we all know, admin can make or break the school. Hopefully our MTSS coord will move into one of the principal spots.

I have Ticonderoga gold pencils. The eraser lasts almost as long as the pencil. They’re the best. I think the problem is that the kids like to have "pencil" fights with them by snapping them against each other. Then no one wants to use the "little" pencil. To get around that I have golf pencils for those who can't handle having a nice #2 pencil with an eraser.
