I like French Door because I like the wider freezer section. We had a side-by-side and I didn’t like how narrow the two sides were. ETA - I do think the side-by-side freezer section is easier to organize because you don’t have to pile a lot of things on top of each other. But, I still prefer the width of my French Door. ^^^ this the width of the side-by-side is so frustrating as while you may have the storage you have to un-pack the shelf to see whaat is behind the front items.

I’m a side by side fan. Hate my sisters French door because the freezer is like a kids toybox- gotta dig to find anything and hers in super organized!
However, I’m not a fan of my current side by side. The fridge part is great but the freezer part has flat shelves with no lip or baskets other than the bottom one and everything falls out if it’s not stacked just so. Pisses me off all the time. I’m on the hunt for metal or plastic perforated bins (air circulation) that fit on the shelves.

I’m gonna be the only person that prefers side by side. 😂 We had a French door fridge at our vacation rental last weekend and nobody would actually shut the doors. You had to push them all the way closed. Of course we didn’t have normal everyday fridge contents on vacation but it was hard to fit leftovers and several different cartons of beer and other alcohol in there. Just didn’t work for 12 people in one cabin very well. Ours closes, and if you somehow don’t get it closed within a certain length of time it starts beeping at you to remind you to close the door.

While I liked the French door/bottom freezer we had, DH hated the freezer. Said it was like digging through a kid's toybox to find anything. I had it very organized with bins in both the drawer and slide out basket, but he just hated it. My issue with it was how deep the fridge was (it was a 29 cu ft). Being short I had trouble reaching things in the back and top shelf. We replaced it with Subzero 36" refrigerator and 12" freezer columns and everyone is much happier. The freezer does hold a pizza box (tested it in the showroom!) and has enough drawers to keep it organized. We just had a 5 day power outage and it kept the ice cubes frozen solid for 3 full days! It is taller and I still have trouble reaching the top shelf but that is where I keep things I rarely use. DH uses it most of the time.Short people problems! I’m 5’ 2” and can’t reach anything. I got some bins and use them on the top shelf. I keep most of our freezer items in our upright freezer and I have it organized in bins. For the top shelf, I just pull out the bin, get what I need, and put the bin back. I did the same in our refrigerator. It makes all the difference for me. I use wire metal baskets in the freezer and clear “refrigerator” bins in the fridge. It took me a while to find wire bins with straight sides, but Amazon had what I needed.

I have a French door, freezer on bottom and hate it….
I’d actually like to replace it with just a fridge (no freezer)and use the deep freezer in the garage…
Freezer is impossible to clean, stuff gets lost in there, the drawer slides closed and crushes the food containers unless you are careful where you put stuff, my children open it 10,000 times a day (there’s nothing to snack on in there I have no idea why) and the sound of the freezer drawer sliding open and closed drives me insane….

I love freezer on the bottom, but prefer a regular door for the fridge on top. When we replaced our original freezer on bottom years ago I thought I wanted a French door, but when I stood in front of one in the store, I realized that the location of it in our kitchen would make the French door style awkward to use.

I have a side by side and hate it. We bought a house with a Subzero fridge and when we replaced it, that was all that would fit.

French door...side by side is hard to fit some things in two.
