I work in a grocery store in PA and we recently went to the bags for our rotisserie chickens. It is definitely not as convenient to just slice a bit and save the rest. The containers were a bit cumbersome to dispose of though.

Okay I'm going to be the lone dissenter here but I prefer the bags. That huge plastic container took up a lot of space in the fridge, and I struggled to get the lid back on correctly every time.
I don't have any issues with leaking or anything. If the chicken is still warm the meat slides right off, and after its cold I normally take it out of the package and slice it up/debone it on the cutting board so the packaging never mattered really.
The empty bag smooshes down so easily into the trash can, that old huge container took up a lot of trash bag space.
The fact that we are using so much less plastic is awesome, too, it very much is a good and happy thing.

Interesting. My Costco hasn’t switched over yet, but I’ll start bringing an insulated bag to carry it home in.

I think I am going to purchase this glass storage container: linkI'll transfer my Costco chicken to it immediately. I can cut it up and store it.
