I read Just For The Summer by Abby Jimenez. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ When it comes to love, Emma is cursed. Every guy she dates finds his true love after they break up. But it turns out she's not the only one afflicted with this condition... His name is Justin, and his Reddit thread about being "love's good luck charm" has gone viral. Now the two have come up with an ingenious plan:If they date each other, their curses will cancel out and they'll go on to find their soulmate. Only Justin wasn't supposed to be so unbelievably cute. And hilarious. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected including catching real feelings. Has fate finally brought the perfect pair together, or will their cure be way more hazardous than the curse itself? I just finished this book today. I enjoyed it, but didn’t realize until after I finished it that it was book 3 in a series.

I read The Mystery Guest by Nina Prose - book 2 in the "Molly the maid" series. After finishing, I read some reviews and many people called this a "cozy" mystery. It was okay - probably 3 stars.

I read Little Eve by Catriona Ward 3.5 stars
“A great day is upon us. He is coming. The world will be washed away.”
On the wind-battered isle of Altnaharra, off the wildest coast of Scotland, a clan prepares to bring about the end of the world and its imminent rebirth.
The Adder is coming and one of their number will inherit its powers. They all want the honor, but young Eve is willing to do anything for the distinction.
A reckoning beyond Eve’s imagination begins when Chief Inspector Black arrives to investigate a brutal murder and their sacred ceremony goes terribly wrong.
And soon all the secrets of Altnaharra will be uncovered.
This is my third book by Catriona Ward, it wasn't my favourite but it was still an interesting read.

Will have to see if I have read the others in the series.

I tried to start that and really could not get into it. I've decided I maybe don't like the author after all.

Will have to see if I have read the others in the series. I've read all her books out of order on accident but it didn't take away from the stories for me. Usually the characters from the previous books are mentioned but not central to the plot. There will be a huge spoiler however if you read The Friend Zone series out of order.

Two mysteries this week: AJ Finn's new book, End of Story. I think this is the second book from this semi-cancelled author's two-book book deal (the first was The Woman in the Window). In this one, a dying mystery writer invites a fan/correspondent to come live with him in his San Francisco mansion and write about his life; his life includes a wife and child who went missing from different locations on the same day twenty years ago, and the mystery of their disappearance or disappearances never has been solved. I did enjoy the SF atmospherics in the novel, and the setup for the book was good. I wasn't a huge fan of either the exposition of the story or the ending -- If you read The Woman in the Window, this narrator is even less reliable . I DNF'd End of Story after about 50 to 75 pages. Glad I didn't miss anything. Lisa

I read two books last week.
Long After We Are Gone by Terah Shelton Harris. Wow! Here is my GR review: This was fantastic! It dragged a bit at the start and was a bit confusing as I struggled to keep the characters straight at first. But then it really started to pick up momentum, and the last 50% or so was exceptional.
When the patriarch of the Solomon family dies, his four children converge on the family home. Each of them brings with them deep secrets. They will have to work through those as they are about to lose the home, in the family for more than 200 years, due to a little-known law.
Secrets are exposed. Battle lines are drawn. And life-changing decisions are made in this powerful family saga.
Kudos to the author for tackling a unique subject, something I have not ever heard of. This book is perfect to read during Black History Month. 5/5 stars
Think Twice by Harlan. Love Myron and Win. This wasn't my favorite as I thought it jumped the shark. Even so, 4 stars.
I was visiting family for three days and got home last night. I got some reading in on the plane and also DNF'd two books, Listen for the Lie and The Father She Went to Find (I think this is a YA). Neither held my interest, although I know that LFTL has mostly great reviews.
But the two I'm reading now both seem promising. Here's hoping!

Lisa If you are at all interested in what that whole plot was building to, Nicky, the narrator, is actually Nico, whose "disappearance" was actually moving to Seattle to transition to female. The sister accidentally killed the mom the same night; the mom was supposed to accompany Nico/Nicky to Seattle, but Nico/Nicky went without her when she didn't show up at their meeting place.
