The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton - This book set me up to become financially independent. It took years but following his philosophy of how to make money work for you has been a godsend. David is a business associate of mine. He's a great guy and lives a very frugal life. He has since written a sequel to this book. I will send the compliment to him.

I remember when I gave my sister the book Don't Sweat the Small Stuff. After she read it she had tears in her eyes and said she wished she had read it decades years earlier. Two years later she was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. The fact that that little book moved her so much has stuck with me the past 30 years.

linda I remember The Tightwad Gazette! I kept that book for a very long time and remember finding the information useful back then. Another book I found life changing was The Simplicity Reader. I still have my copy. I haven’t opened it in a long time and I imagine much of it is outdated without engaging in flexible thinking, but it holds a place in my heart because it taught me boundaries beyond those of living simply. The Simplicity Reader taught me my front door and my phone are there for my convenience and no one else’s. Before that I felt I had an obligation to answer the door and phone and let whatever was on the other end into my day. I always felt overwhelmed and this was the first step to calming the chaos in my (unbeknownst to me at the time) neurodivergent mind. It taught me to curate what I let in.

I am squealing like a teenager over here! I was always scared of money until I read his book. He explained saving and investing in a way that was easy to understand and easy to put into practice.

I don't think I've ever read a book that was life changing. I'm definitely not someone who reads self-help. But, I remember reading Lee Iaccoca's autobiography when it came out. I was only 21, but I remember reading it cover to cover and thinking how good it was.

Oh my, too many to count. When you read a book at just the right time in your life it can feel like karma. Two for now: Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh - I take it to the beach every vacation and it never fails to touch me in a profound way. Codependent No More by Melody Beattie - I just read this recently and I felt like she was writing about my life. So many lightbulb moments. Reading it has set me on a mission to find balance and joy in my life. Edited to add one more: The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton - This book set me up to become financially independent. It took years but following his philosophy of how to make money work for you has been a godsend. I adore GIFTS FROM THE SEA!!! What a gem. I have it on my wee "altar" at home.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I don't about life changing but definitely thought provoking.

Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People by Bob Goff This sounds interesting. Off to look it up.
