Here's what I read the last few weeks...
The Beautiful Mystery, by Louise Penny. An Inspector Gamache novel. Im reading these in order. Great books. This one takes place in a monastery in the forest. 5 stars
Thereby Hangs A Tail, by Spencer Quinn. A Chet and Bernie mystery, the second in a series. Chet is a German Shepherd, and its in his point of view. Its works. Can't explain it, but the pov works, and its a charming series.4 stars.
What You Are Looking For Is In The Library, by Michiko Anyama. I found this in the library. Its a Japanese story, about 5 people who stumble into this community library, and the librarian finds them books, to help them find themselves. Each person was its own story, but yet its a novel and it tied together in the end. Really good. 5 stars.
Anxious People, by Fredrik Backman. I liked this, I did, but Backman annoys me a little. 4 stars.
A Short Walk Through A Wide World, by Douglass Westerbeke. This was my jam. A 9 year old French girl, I think in the 1880's, finds one of those wooden puzzle blocks, and she can't get rid of it, its like a curse. She gets deathly sick and discovers that she has to move on, can only stay in one place maybe 4 days at the most. Her mother goes with her at first, but by the time she's 13, she gives her mother the slip so she can go back home, and learns to fend for herself. This was amazing, another that will be on my list of favorites for the year. I have 5 or 6, and its only June. Anyway...5 stars.
The Anodyne Necklace, by Martha Grimes, A Richard Jury mystery. Her mysteries are named after real pubs in the UK. Good. 4 stars.

I'm contemplating my next read and I'm in the mood for a good series that follows a family through the generations. Any suggestions?

I just finished Crazy Love You by Lisa Unger and really enjoyed it. It was a real page-turner 5/5 stars. I didn't realize it was part of a series that I had read bits and pieces of but I highly recommend it.
Darkness has a way of creeping up when Ian is with Priss. Even when they were kids, playing in the woods of their small upstate New York town, The Hollows, he could feel it. Still, Priss was his best friend, his salvation from the bullies who called him "loser" and "fatboy"... and from his family's deadly secrets.
Now that they've both escaped to New York City, Ian no longer inhabits the tortured shell of his childhood. He is a talented and successful graphic novelist, and Priss...Priss is still trouble. The booze, the drugs, the sex--Ian is growing tired of late nights together trying to keep the past at bay. Especially now that he's met sweet, beautiful Megan, whose love makes him want to change for the better. But Priss doesn't like change. Change makes her angry. And when Priss is angry, terrible things begin to happen..

The last two books and the one I am currently reading is a trilogy by Tom Rob Smith.
Starts with Child 44 which I had read years ago. Set in post WWI and WWII Russia. The MC is an MGB (pre-KGB) agent and discovers the serial murders of children. He can be single-minded and dense. Of course, thinking for yourself and not parroting the state’s propaganda can get one exiled, jailed, or killed. It’s interesting how he struggles between training and knowing he must stop this killer who does not exist due to the political landscape.
Next is The Secret Speech. Revenge, murder, kidnapping, blackmail. It is rescuing someone he feels responsible for. Background is the upheaval of citizens motivated by the Speech that is disseminated early in the book—Kruschev (sp?) denouncing Stalin’s rules.
Early in to Agent 6. Wasn’t sure I was going to finish the trilogy. The author has a pattern, sort of.
I knew I enjoyed the first book. Oddly I only remembered a few details. Otherwise, it was a new book. 😂
Next needs to be something from my TBR.

I've read a few Peter Swanson Novels. It's a series of 3 (so far). I haven't finished the third so I'm not sure if there's more upcoming.
The Kind Worth Killing The Kind Worth Saving and A Talent for Murder
I'm enjoying the series. The first one had an abrupt ending which caught me off guard. My kindle said that there was 1 hour left but it was the first few chapters of the next book. Luckily The Kind Worth Saving was on Kindle Unlimited and I have a 3 month free trial. Yay. I downloaded it immediately. My library had A Talent for Murder available as a 7 day loan. Win!

Trying to read The Wrong Family but not sure I can muddle thru it. I did read Carolina Moonset. It was pretty good, got a little confusing to me at the end.
