They’ve rarely done anything to help so we’re indifferent as to where they are. Abbott withheld federal disaster funds from Harris County (which had the most $$ in damage) after Harvey just because we don’t vote for him. Biden has said he’ll get federal funding directly to affected counties this time instead of letting Abbott/the state distribute it like Trump did. We’re better off that way. Me, I’m just planning our move to Spain. Oh how exciting. I hope you will post lots of information and such. I know many of us will be living vicariously through you and others living abroad. That is IF we would be allowed the internet!! They might even monitor our mail at all the massive central collection stations... oh wait, DeJoy will just shut it down... He's doing a good job of it already.

It’s not happening immediately - setting the end of 2025 as a target. Oh do you have a while here yet. With the way things are going I thought maybe you were bugging out 😂 still a huge change. Sometimes I think it would be fun to retire in another country but don’t have any idea where. It sounds like a fun adventure.

The expat process can be difficult, depending on the country. It helps a lot if you can show private resources that mean you won’t be a burden on their safety net, obviously. We’ll probably spend the first couple of years on six-month tourist visas here and there before deciding where we ultimately want to land.

I haven’t looked into it much. There is definitely the thought that it would be nice to have a backup plan or two in the coming years. We don’t speak Spanish or any language well enough to consider a non English speaking country long term but I would love to spend time in many countries.

I really should try. I was horrible at it when younger. I took German and Spanish and a month after it was forgotten. If course I have more desire to learn now. Of course I have trouble understanding sone people speaking English. I just have trouble hearing but not enough for a hearing aid
