While scrapmaven is off enjoying her adventure with her ODS, I’ll start the thread this morning. I know we were all glad to see bc2ca back on the dinner thread yesterday but so sorry to hear about her medical issues. We all are praying and sending good thoughts for her and her family as they navigate her treatments. bc2ca , Please stay in touch when you feel up to it and know we're here for you. Today I’m doing more laundry as it is heating up again in a few days. I’m still going through all the photos from our trip and deciding which ones to print. Dinner will be grilled flank steak with corn-on-the-cob. What’s on your menu?

Happy Thursday!
Boy, this week has dragged on for me. Probably because I'm not busy at work and I'm going on vacation in a week. Hopefully, the days will start to speed up a bit.
It's been pretty hot in DFW but it looks like it should only be in the low 90s to upper 80s so we'll be getting a bit of a break. I haven't felt like eating anything heavy so last night I had salmon and couscous and tonight I'm going to make a taco salad and have my parents over.
Work is just blah right now and it's not helping my mood! I need a weekend!

Haha cadoodlebug! I stole that meme and posted it on Jeremy Facebook. He's a semi truck driver and I still can't shut my mouth over his driving. 🤣😂 I'm thinking I will have fajitas for dinner tonight. Work has kept me busy this morning. I am also quite worried about Chloe after receiving some disturbing messages last night. I told my mom and my sister this morning. My mom made all manner of excuses. My sister was disturbed because some of the messages were threatening. I know sometimes she drives me crazy but my sister is fair and committed to doing the right thing. So she said she would handle this. I am grateful for her today. If you all could keep Chloe in your thoughts and prayers, I would appreciate it. She is not well and her behavior is escalating. I am going to just continue working. Keep my mind off things. Only one more meeting to go. And I'm leaving work at 3 for a haircut which I desperately need.

. jeremysgirl - you and Chloe are in my thoughts. I hope she is able to get the help she needs. Please remember to take care of yourself at this time. Today was fairly quiet here. My cleaner was in this morning, so I shut myself in my craft room for a couple of hours. I didn’t get much done, between a phone call from one of my work friends, checking in on me and letting me know they are having an end of school year ice cream party next Wednesday if I’d like to come along, and messages from my sons. Older DS wanted to tell DH and I to think about and write down our funeral intents, as they try to organise the arrangements for his MiL. It sounds like everyone has their own ideas and his FiL is not coping and all is chaos. I’m sure it will all come together in the next few days, and the Mass and everything will run smoothly next Tuesday. I finished the sweater I’ve been knitting since February last night, and now I don’t have anything to go onto, so I will need to make some decisions soon. I will also need to sort out a simple project for my hospital stay - nothing that takes much space or brain power, as I probably won’t have a lot of that for a few days! Dinner tonight is simple, as I have been doing more complicated dinners for most of the week. DH bought some wurst from the butcher on his way home and we have tons of potatoes left from the big bag I bought yesterday for the gnocchi, so I’ll add a salad and that will do.

Posting early for once! We will have dinner at some friends’ house and I believe I heard something about pesto pasta, maybe made from homegrown basil? We’re not allowed to bring a thing, because we took dinner over when they had COVID. jeremysgirl, hoping Chloe’s issues get under control quickly. I’m so sorry you have these worries to deal with. Glad your sister is stepping up. And I’m hoping scrapmaven is having a wonderful time with her DS. Stop in again any time you feel like it, bc2ca. You have been greatly missed.

Not sure for dinner, DD will be at work so we don't have to worry about here. SO sent a cryptic message and I am trying to figure out what it means. He said don't think too hard and it is about dinner, but I can't figure it out!! I just asked for a hint. jeremysgirl - prayers that Chole will get the help she needs and your sister can be that help for her. I am so sorry she is spiraling. Have a great time scrapmaven!!

I am just about to take out my garbage and recycling before it gets scorching hot here ... supposed to hit about 30 degrees Celsius which is hot for us! Later in the week we will see 34! At lunchtime I am picking up a side table that I bought from Facebook Marketplace for my spare bedroom ... I managed to get $20 off of it! Tonight I am going for dinner with some ladies from a Facebook group I am a part of (thought it was last night but it is tonight) ... one lady tries to dominate the conversation but I am not going to let her! Sheesh! So I'll be having dinner at a restaurant ... no idea what!

another lovely foggy day here. I got 1/3 of stuff out of spare room yesterday and I have to finish it today.. movers coming tomorrow afternoon. I will get my kid to try out the mattress and may move mattresses around.. take the worst one to the dump.
my kid is still pretty sick, I may just make some chicken and pilaf for dinner with salad.
prayers for chloe and all those who need them.
still planning my big camping trip with my dd and her wife. I think it is mostly settled, camping at mt rainier two nights, entrance reservations, at camp on hood canal for 3 nights, then camping out at sol duc hotsprings for 1 night, then backpacking shi shi beach for 2 nights, 1 night at hotel at ocean shores wa, then cruising back to SF. its a good thing we all get along. we will just have to plan food.. which will be a challenge. and I need to get out and organize the gear we are taking. and since it is washington state.. bringing my rain gear.

I took my mom for her senior driving test this morning. She was worried about drawing a clock but she did fine and passed. So she’s good for another two years. Her car isn’t in great shape but we’ve already bought her a couple cars in the past and have put some money into the current one. Now that we are retired, we don’t have the money to be able to buy her another car. She will drive until her car dies and will then give up her license. It’s only 20 degrees here today which is a welcome reprieve from the heat. We have all the windows open to try and dry the basement and get ride of the horrible smell. Supper will be grilled pork chops. jeremysgirl: Thinking of you!

Please remember to take care of yourself at this time. I am taking care of myself in the best I know how to without cigarettes. It involves, coffee and an overabundance of zucchini muffins. LOL! But seriously, not funny. Stress eating is a real problem. I believe I heard something about pesto pasta, maybe made from homegrown basil? My pesto pasta came out so delicious last night. I put some away for lunch today, but you know, muffins got in the way. SO sent a cryptic message and I am trying to figure out what it means. He said don't think too hard and it is about dinner, but I can't figure it out!! I just asked for a hint. This is cute.

Thanks for all the pea love - you really are the best! The weirdest thing about this year is I don't feel sick and have had very little pain. I developed ascites (fluid build up in the abdominal cavity) that triggered the doctor visits. Fatigue & brain fog hit for a few days each cycle and surgery was no fun but already a distant memory. During my first cycle I stubbed my toe badly during a night time bathroom visit and it was probably the most pain I've dealt with during treatment. And my amazing DH bought a nightlight the next day. Once through my fatigue, I am back to walking 2-4 miles a day and waiting to get clearance to go back to yoga. Thinking of you jeremysgirl, and hoping Chloe gets the help she needs now. DH is making burgers and a salad for dinner.

Thank you to our lovely cadoodlebug for starting the thread today. bc2ca , thank you for coming home and allowing us to support you. You have a strong tribe and we are good cooks, too. sueg , when dh lost his mom he suddenly had the need to take care of our final arrangements. We are all set. His sister then followed and bought a ground condo near ours. The boys will be in charge of taking care of all of us. We have plots near my parents. I called my sister and cried, "Omg. I'm moving back into the house with mom and dad forever. What was I thinking"? I wish for peace and healing for your ddil.

My cleaner was also here this morning, so I went out to do a couple of errands...one of which was to pick up a rotisserie chicken from Costco to make a chicken salad with ..OMG the rotisserie was down...Like ALL of them...being worked on...so not a chicken to be had😱 DH was out and about also and made his way to a different store and waited 20 minutes for the chickens to be ready...I do love that man!!!
I just took zucchini breads out of the oven, my neighbor gave me a zucchini so it became bread!!! One I'll leave for DH the other will come with me to NH for a crop this weekend. That is what the chicken salad is for as well. KelleeM and I will leave tomorrow morning, we are going to the home of one of our cropping buddies, who kindly invited the others in our group for the weekend...It should be fun, I'm looking forward to getting my Greece pictures cropped.
jeremysgirl...I hope your sister is able to get Chloe the help she needs (((hugs))) to you❤️ bc2ca...Wow!! Woman you are pretty amazing considering all you are going through!! Love and Prayers for continued healing!! sueg....hoping that everything comes together for tuesday 💝

lucyg your friends sound very appreciative. Have fun tonight! jeremysgirl I'm sad to hear Chloe is unwell and I pray your sister's intervention goes well. Hugs to you. So hard to see kids in pain and also so difficult as parents to endure. karenlou we typically pick one up when we go and our disappointed when they are not available. We had a nice walk this morning and I have physical therapy amongst other things. She had a creative fix for my hand so I can maybe play guitar again. I found online a different kind of brace that only impacts my thumb so will try that too. Tonight is chicken tortilla soup.

bc2ca. Glad to see you here! I’m glad you were able to figure out what was going on so that you could move forward with treatment. Nice cool day here today it might’ve hit 72°. Hasn’t been that cool in a long time. Not much else going on been busy with my niece, her husband, and their two boys. They head back to Florida on Monday. It’s always sad when they leave.

The end of my birthday turned out differently than expected. Dh and I were out at a late dinner and I got some texts from dd1. A shelf in her pretty newly remodeled condo gave out (turns out contractor didn’t use adequate hardware) and everything came crashing down. She sent me pics of the disaster- broken ceramic and glass everywhere but the biggest issue was she had turned that shelf into a little bar area and colored liqueurs spilled EVERYWERE on her new white tile floors and white quartz counters and all down her her custom cabinetry. She was asking me questions as she was trying to deal with it all and it was t coming out well. Time was of the essence and so dh and I went home for supplies (to put the shelf up for him and cleaning for me) and grab the dogs and headed to a Seattle (about 1.25 hours away in decent traffic which it was since it was night time). Anyway, we all scrubbed and cleaned and got her kitchen back to almost perfect, thank goodness! The quartz counter and tile floor are saved.Strangely, there are still some faint stains on the cabinets which I thought was odd as they are coated - I’d would have thought the dyed red liquid would have wiped off. Oh did I mention it was all red. Poor things, a lot of things were ruined like cookbooks but it could have been SO MUCH worse - no chips to the counter and she is leaving for a 10 day trip tomorrow. If it had happened while she was away I’m sure the red dye were have set. We got home after 2am so I had a slower start this morning. Dinner tonight is peppercorn tenderloin, roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes, and roasted green beans.

jeremysgirl. Does Chloe need residential treatment or anything? I’m hoping your sister can help her. In my opinion yes. The messages from last night were threatening. And I came home from the hairdresser to find that a good friend of mine has received messages from Chloe asking him to forward messages and videos to me because she was afraid if she did I "would lock her up "

I just got back from seeing my hairdresser. I have been seeing the same one for like 8 years. She says, are you doing something different? I said I'm using the exact same products you've been selling me for years. She says, no, like are you taking vitamins or something? I'm like why do you ask? She says, you have a ton of new hairs that weren't here when I saw you 2 months ago.
I was like, well I have made some changes...but how weird is that?

A plant based diet is so great- I didn’t realize that was a benefit, too!! My goal is to drift more towards less meat. I already eat lunch meat free most days. I just am not about the work right now to deal with new recipes, etc for dinner but I hope to work on that at some point. Your positive health benefits inspire me. I’m sorry about Chloe. Even distancing yourself, I know it’s got to be stressful and so upsetting. Thinking of you.

jeremysgirl I’m sorry to hear that Chloe isn’t doing too well. I will her, and you, in my thoughts. I’m glad your sister is helping out with the situation. I have been getting home from work after 7pm all week, which means DSO has been cooking every night. It’s been years since he’s had to do that! Last night he cooked chicken schnitzel with potatoes and veggies. I whipped up a quick miso mushroom sauce just as he was finishing cooking. paget you’re a good mumma to go all that way to help your daughter. And on your birthday no less!

jeremysgirl you must be so frustrated with your mom. She seems to be in denial. I really hope your sister can get through to her. paget that sounds like an awful mess. She is so lucky she was home. Dh is golfing again so i had salad & sun chips. I’ll probably lose my spot on the dinner thread for admitting this but I don’t even notice if there’s rotisserie chickens at Costco. I can’t remember the last time I bought one. I was there yesterday too.
