Well, I admit it. This whole program has been a disappointment so far. I figured while sneaks were now promised on the 20th, they'd make us wait until Monday. And probably for another disappointment. Instead, I am pleasantly surprised: August peeks. Not completely original, but all the parts seem to work relatively cohesively together. I don't love the fancy die for the month, but I could see using these items with the tropical palm tree window die from last summer, for instance. The cling stamp and stencil set are somewhat similar, allowing for a "choose-your-own-adventure" sort of thing depending on if you'd rather stamp or blend. I don't think I'm going to jump in and subscribe to anything prior to the full previews, but at this point it seems like the best since this new program began.

Yep. This one is still "meh" for me too. Not excited.

I am sucker for birds. June's pigeons were not at all difficult to resist, but these macaws....

The theme is not for me but at least it looks quite cohesive.

So, wait...if you want to subscribe, you have until Thursday. But the rest of the sneaks are posted over this coming weekend?!

I like it, but I have a lot of tropical themed stuff, so I will probably pass. That first card really caught my eye though.

That is about as much sneak peek as you get with a Paper Pumpkin kit (well, ok, sometimes PP is even less)! But a PP is less expensive and has fewer durable products -- it's mostly consumable. Less of an investment, I guess, is what I'm trying to say. I don't cotton to this at all....

I think I just have to conclude that I don't care for this brand any more. I've bought a few gems from them, but the vast majority of their stuff (especially the last couple of years of kits) are not my jam. I still always watch Card Cutups kit videos though, because he has so many creative ways to use them, I figure maybe it might help me see my supplies in different ways.

When I came back to paper crafting after my ~2 decade hiatus, the supplies that I found in my stash that still seemed relevant and viable were Hero Arts stamps (all wood-mounted rubber, of course) and Tsukineko inks. That's part of what's given me my soft spot for both brands, no doubt. I am definitely fond of some of MMH kits I bought recently, though I do think I actually liked many of the Joann/HA Make Yourself at Home card kits better, and they are no more. And I also have to admit that there are more MMH kits that I feel fondly towards than MMH kits that I have actually used....
I don't know if this new program is supposed to be just generally shaking things up to be competing more directly with Spellbinders and Altenew or what. If they thought that's the sort of thing required to be competitive in this market, I think they missed the mark.

Seeing the full card kit today, it seems like an interesting mix of products -- not quite like anything I've seen in a MMH or Joann's/HA kit before. I like the theme, I like how the products seem like they work together, but....
Maybe too mixed media for me? Maybe I just don't need this? Not sure, but I suspect I'm going to pass. Of course, I also don't think it's any more likely to sell out this week than any of the others did, so probably plenty of time to ponder.

Its a pass for me! I have some similar products already and just the mix of this kit doesn't appeal to me at all. I would want more images on the stamp set. Where are the monkeys to hang of the vines? And why are the stand alone dies so big that you can't use it with the stamp set? This kit has the same theme but at the end its not cohesive in my opinion.

The main thing that caught my eye was the colorful paper, but it looks like that's actually washi sticker sheets - much harder to use than paper! I'm sure I would mess them up sticking them anywhere. And it doesn't look like any of the DT examples used them at all. The style of the illustration doesn't really seem to go with the style of the stamps.
Scott at Card Cutups has had trouble using the rub-on sheets with the rest of the kit for the past couple of months too. It's like that's added to add value and make it more mixed media but it takes away value if it doesn't really work with the kit, at least to my way of thinking.

Well, the card kit sold out. Not lightning fast -- I did take a moment to check Monday evening or maybe Tuesday and it was still available then. I saw a card Channin posted this morning with a pair of beautiful and pretty realistic-looking macaws made with the layering stamps and started to consider caving...saved from myself.
This is the first time since May's final MMH that they've managed a sell out.
EtA: Was I merely under-caffeinated? Was the site glitching? Did I dream it? I have the card kit in my cart…decisions, decisions. Mostly centered around the fact that macaws are deeply cool, but how truly useful are they in cardmaking?!
in vaguely related news, I may have a FB buyer for one of the stupid transfer sets from another kit….

Maybe a glitch? I was surprised to hear they’d sold out with this one. It didn’t seem like it would be a home run. Seems to be in stock now. I can’t imagine using macaws a lot myself, but if you love them… Hope you can sell the transfers

I am deeply impressed with myself -- HA is having a flash 24-hour 50% sale on Infinity dies. I got a set and another item that was on my wish list, but NO MACAWS!!

Eh, too fussy for me, but not terrible. HA has two modes these days, either silhouette or little fussy details. The last picture, the card kit, looks like a bunch of little square scenes that could be collaged or used as a background, and reminds me of all the postage collage sets without the postage theme. I’m not going to color all those details but I kind of like it. http://instagram.com/p/DAJW2koOexv

Like many here, I'm trying to hold the line on new Christmas stash, but this is one of the nicest releases in this new subscription series.
Also thought I'd pop in and share this from Jennifer M: 20% off June-September Hero Studio releases! Use the code “JENHS20” through 10/10/24.

Speaking of Hero Arts. Does anywhere but them sell their core ink refills? I have 6-7 pads that I would like to get refills for, but half of them are out of stock and I don't want to pay 2 shipping fees. I have googled a lot.

I think the "core" line of inks is officially discontinued but I have (I think downloaded from somewhere on their site) a chart equating the older core inks to the new line by color and it says you can use the newer refills in the core pads, iirc.

I had a terrible day at work, so when popped into HA to see what exactly was discounted. A couple of things I'd admired at the time were even more attractive with the 20% off, but then the two Christmas things I'd been trying to stave off jumped into my cart as well. Retail therapy...what can I say, it seems to work a bit.
