Question - If Biden steps aside now and Harris takes over, does this count as one term? Would she then be eligible for only one full 4-year term? I desperately hope that Joe Biden can finish his term. I would love for him to be able to JUST be president and not also have to be campaigning all over the country.

I really hope this is the message of Biden passing the torch - patriotism, gratitude for his service and accomplishments Cory BookerCory Booker @corybooker I cannot overstate the gravity of the noble and history-making decision that President Biden just made. The feeling that I have right now is one of profound gratitude.
I am grateful that Joe Biden has been a friend, the most dedicated of public servants, and an extraordinary president.
I was grateful for the opportunity to work with President Biden on some of the most pressing issues facing this nation: passing the expanded child tax credit that significantly reduced child poverty, historic investments in infrastructure, from the Gateway tunnel to urban tree planting to make a healthier environment for all, and defending democratic ideals at home and abroad.
I am grateful that we have a president whose patriotism and love of country drove him to run and win against demagoguery in 2020, and who now, because of that same fierce love and devotion to his fellow Americans, has decided to be the bridge to a new generation of leaders.

Just wanted to mention that I really like Harris' husband. He's been a great 2nd gentleman and would make a great 1st gentleman. He does a great job of quietly supporting her in the background. He connects with people and does well campaigning with her.

I thought both of these were heartfelt, sweet messages Jason Carter & Naomi BidenJason Carter @senatorcarter From one grandchild to another, you should be proud. There are politics and elections, yes. But as they say, “history casts the final ballot”. Your grandfather is revered—by my family and many others.
Naomi Biden @naomibiden I’m nothing but proud today of my Pop, our President, Joe Biden, who has served our country with every bit of his soul and with unmatched distinction. Not only has he been—and will continue to be—the most effective president of our lifetime, but he has likely already cemented himself as the most effective and impactful public servant in our nation’s history. He has been at the center of, and had a material impact on, literally every single major issue that our country and world has faced for 50 years. Our world is better today in so many ways thanks to him. To the Americans who have always had his back, keep the faith. He will always have ours.

Happy to see a lot of posts today in support of Harris and praise for Biden. In the history books, I think Biden will be remarkable for choosing Harris, his accomplishments, steering the country out of covid, boosting the economy, providing normalcy when it was very much needed, restoring compassion, decency, honor, ethics and integrity to the White House. Ken BurnsKen Burns. @kenburns History recognizes actions that are bigger than self. Joe Biden will go down as one of the great ones, having led the country out of the disastrous term of his predecessor and quietly doing good things for all Americans, red state as well as blue, accomplishments that put him up there, in terms of legislative action, with LBJ and FDR. Joe, I can’t imagine where we’d be without your selfless service.

Republicans like him melting down over Biden passing the torch are a good sign that they're running scared. Newt Gingrich and Mike Johnson are losing it, too

mollycoddleForced, no! Choose, yes! The people who dig ditches, check us out at the supermarkets etc are often forced! The deep pockets Republicans CHOOSE to bend the knee. Let me sort of quote Susan Collins... he learned his lesson... If the Senate had done what was right Feb 5, 2020 and found TFG guilty they would have stopped this mess. Better yet all the times TFG skated from 1973 discrimination charges(he and Daddy Fred paid fines) plus we would not be on this mess. He never suffered consequences!!

He makes a couple of great points about how VP Harris is well positioned to meet the moment. She is a prosecutor running against a felon. At a time when women's rights are under attack, she can speak passionately about abortion rights. Chris Murphy

I just watched Heather Cox Richardson talk about what happened today. I did a search using her name on Facebook to find it. It’s about 30 minutes long. Very inspiring. I think we’re going to win. I really do. This was really good and she made me feel better than I have in a while. I do like being able to vote for someone younger. I respect Biden and think he was doing a good job but did have concerns about his age. After listening to her I feel like I can breathe a bit easier. I feel hope. I also liked the point she made about the transition if she wins. I don’t normally listen to her but just read her posts I’m glad I listened to this.

But at the end of the day, for whatever reason, they bend the knee. The result is the same. Except for a few brave souls like Liz C, who are not currently holding elected office..

My mom, aunt and uncle, all in their late 70's, early 80's are some of the most liberal people I know. My dad is a lifelong Republican but a never Trumper who voted for Biden and will vote for the next Democratic candidate I'm not counting out the older generation My 90-year-old extremely liberal mother will be voting for her as well. As will I but I'm "only" 62. Damn right. I’m 68, and this boomer is voting blue all the way down ballot.

No… No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.she wouldn’t serve for more than two years of a term if he were to step down now

Heritage Foundation attacks... he represents us so well..... House Speaker Mike Johnson said Sunday a legal challenge to the Democratic Party’s expected switch from Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris will be challenged in the courts. "I think they've got legal hurdles in some of these states," Johnson said on CNN. "And it'll be litigated, I would expect, on the ground there." Millions of dollars has already been committed to such a challenge from the right-wing group behind Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation, its representative told Newsweek. www.rawstory.com/heritage-foundation-biden/

Despite what we tend to think, our primary process does not nominate the candidate - the delegates at the convention do. Biden was not actually on the ballot in any state since he hadn’t yet been nominated.

Anything to cause chaos and discord. Trump wants to be reimbursed for what he spent campaigning against Biden and others are wanting another investigation against Biden. Basically they just want to do anything they can except actual work to help the people who voted for them. www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-reimbursed-fighting-joe-biden-election-truth-social-kamala-harris-1928235

Kennedy is looking better and better...just sayin.... He can’t even get enough signatures to get on the ballot in all the states. The anti-vax lightweight nutjob. Even his own family can’t stand him.
