Hi everyone! Remember me? ? (I'll admit that I kind of felt like you didn't) I have been so flipping busy with my friends from Ontario that I seriously haven't had time to read or post here for days! I have lots of photos but i will just start with a couple ... This is my oldest and dearest friend, Shannon, we have know each other since grade three but haven't been in the same city since we were 13 ... we are now 57. She has alway been there for me for important things in my life no matter where she is living ... my wedding (maid of honour), when each dd was born but then we just started leading our respective "lives". We have now promised to see each other more often ... next time I go to Ontario I will take Emma and Molly! Here we are on the Sulphur Mountain Gondola in Banff: I'm going for dinner with my Calgary girlfriend at one of our fav restaurants tonight and then we will watch Netflix ... I need a vacation from the whirlwind of this past week! How is everyone and their dh's feeling? What is on your menu tonight/ What are your plans today? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Hi leannec - not forgotten, just letting you enjoy your time and waiting for pictures! Plans today (and basically for the next 10 days) - sit on sofa and watch Olympic Games while knitting. I am now isolating as much as possible, as I don’t want to get sick and have my surgery delayed. Dinner is pork fillet on the grill with rice salad. DH is doing all cooking.

leannecI am SO happy you and your friend were able to see each other. Where in Ontario does she live? Warm here today but there's loads of clothes to put away etc. Might go to my mom's pool later (right next door)

leannecI am SO happy you and your friend were able to see each other. Where in Ontario does she live? She lives on a small acreage near a town called Madoc ... in the Belleville area.

leannec, those are cute photos. What else did you do on your trip? Is Harrison Hot Springs still there? I'm so glad that you had so much fun. You can meet your gf halfway and do gir's trips, too. sueg, isolation is boring. I hope that you can find ways to make it better. You're being very wise by isolating right now. Once you get this surgery behind you and start healing then you can look fwd to better things. Perhaps planning something that you can look fwd to would help, too. christine58, I'd jump in that pool w/you. Enjoy today. I'm still sleepy. So, it'll be a very low-key day. Dh just got back from the Farmers Market w/some fresh looking corn and cantaloupe. Our corn is not quite ready. Dinner is tacos or something Dh fixes for himself. Enjoy today, my lovelies.

leannec sounds like you had a nice time with your friend. Cute pictures! sueg I plan on watching as much of the Olympics as possible as well. DH has been sick for a week now. He has tested multiple times for COVID and they have all been negative. I am forcing him to go to urgent care tomorrow if he is not better. He has a terrible cough and he wheezes when he breathes. I have been busy cleaning this morning. I'm debating about washing windows but I really want to watch the Olympics. Dinner is going to be rechauffe. Have a wonderful Saturday, pea friends!

leannec what fun ~ glad you had a great time! We went to breakfast today and had the most adorable waiter. *Jack* is from Dublin, Ireland, and we had such fun reliving our Ireland trip with him. I could listen to him talk all day ~ even for a *wee* minute. After we finished eating, we took a walk around the lake and, when we passed the sport's club and the water aerobics class was going on, I felt guilty. Dinner will be pork chops and baked yams.

leannec I'm so glad you had the chance to visit with your friend. If they've left I am hoping you get time to relax this weekend. I've seen your pics and you have been busy this week. It's wonderful to have a friendship that has endured like that. You must be an excellent friend. stormsts I'm sorry your DH is that sick. After a week, I'd be pushing for urgent care too. scrapmaven by all means, go back to bed if you're still tired. Or put up your feet and relax in your recliner. I got up and farted around all morning. Went to the bookstore at 10 and then the farmers market. I got most of my groceries. I have to pick up a few more things at the health food store. I don't know what I'm doing today. I've got my last load of laundry in the washing machine. I'm cleaning up the kitchen. I'm thinking of making some lunch. Maybe I'll read for a while. Oh and ladies. Today I am 100 days without a cigarette. And I'm 50 days on a plant based diet. My blood pressure has been normal range like 80% of the time the past two weeks. And I have lost 10.4 pounds. All good news really.

DH upgraded his phone this morning and changed from a Samsung Galaxy to an iPhone. Everyone else in the family have iPhones and he was feeling left out. Now we are sitting on the deck and he’s trying to reload all his apps. There is a whole lot of sighing going on. I told him it was going to be way different and would take some getting used to. He’s not one to ask for help so I’m waiting to offer my two cents worth. The neighbours are having a party and the music is blaring. Right now it’s not bad but as they drink more it will get louder and they will be obnoxious. leannec: Certainly not forgotten. Glad it was a great visit with your Canadian friends. Supper will be grilled chicken. jeremysgirl: You go girl!

leannec I’m glad your visit was a success. You two look like sisters! jeremysgirl Congratulations!!!🎈🎉🎊🍾 What an achievement! I have leftover prime rib for dinner. I bought a big wooden salad bowl and the Salad Lab cookbook so I’m going to start trying out some new salad recipes. I’m hoping this will inspire me to eat healthier.

stormsts, sounds like your dh needs urgent care. Is he prone to bronchitis? I hope he feels much better, quickly. jeremysgirl, you're doing an awesome job taking care of yourself. I'm so happy for you. You're extending your life by years. Have you noticed a change in the taste of your food now that you're a non smoker? You are a rockstar! taylortroop, Can you enjoy your book despite the intermittent sighs? Sounds like a lovely am, actually. cadoodlebug, really good meme. You have a right to enjoy breakfast out once in a while. Enjoy the rest of your day. Judy26, what are you doing to celebrate your birthday?

Where I really notice a difference is in my sense of smell... I know you just won't believe it but sometimes Jeremy doesn't smell too good. 😂 And it's driving me nuts the spot where the dog sits on the couch. I steam cleaned it even and I feel like I still smell dog.

I'm on the isolation bench too.. I don't know why but I kept thinking my colonoscopy is on tuesday.. but it is monday.. so tomorrow is a jello day. I will tell dd they are on their own for dinner.
another grey foggy day with wind. working on my extra room and watching some us vs new zealand soccer.
I am planning to drive to idaho on thursday, but I am almost dreading it.. the air quality index is 160... (yuck!).
oh well. I have left over salmon and risotto and salad for dinner.. third night in a row.

He is not prone to bronchitis but that is what I am leaning towards. He actually left for work yesterday and pulled in to the parking lot and turned around and came right back home. He is not one to miss work so I know he is sick.

It's been a super slow morning here. I woke up as usual around 5:30, rolled over and it was 8:30. Other than boiling a dozen eggs and having my coffee, I've accomplished zero this morning. It's almost noon and I feel too late to go to the beach for a walk so I think I'm going to tackle a reorganizing plan for the office, craft a little and read the day away. We have chicken that needs to be used so I'll toss a few vegetables with it on the grill for dinner. Still thinking about making a tapenade as well but that requires energy I just don't think I have today. Glad your visit was full of adventures & fun, leannec. Did the Jasper fire impact your plans? Hope the isolation isn't too bad, ntsf and sueg. I have a couple tests and bigger appointments coming up so taking the same approach through until the first week of August. Hope your DH will go to UC, stormsts. There is definitely a point where someone needs to be checked out. Congratulations on all the health changes, jeremysgirl. Especially quitting smoking - 100 days is something to celebrate!

It's wonderful to have a friendship that has endured like that. You must be an excellent friend. I'm trying to relax but I miss her already! She is like a sister to me in a lot of ways ... I'm an only child and I faced a number of challenges in my life ... she was a constant ... not everyone has that! leannec I’m glad your visit was a success. You two look like sisters! That's what has been said about us our whole lives but it is only because of our body shape ... neither of us has a waistline!!! She's blonde with blue eyes and about 5'8" and I'm naturally a brunette with brown eyes and only 5'1" ... There actually was a time when we were very young that my mum considered going to the courts to become her guardian because her mum was a complete whackadoodle and she was abused and neglected ... luckily, she was able to go live with her dad ... unfortunately, that meant we never got to see each other ...

Glad your visit was full of adventures & fun, leannec. Did the Jasper fire impact your plans? We had planned to visit Banff on Thursday all along ... when the wildfires became a concern we reconsidered ... then we did our research and realized that Jasper is actually many hours from Banff ... So on Thursday we headed out to Banff and drove through (much needed) rain ... once we were in town the rain stopped ... we rode the Sulphur Mountain Gondola up to the lookout and had lunch in a wonderful bistro ... the view was as good as could be expected ... we saw mountains, the town of Banff and the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel from up there with no problem! Another thing, we then went shopping on Banff Avenue and it was not busy at all ... you could tell that so many people had changed their plans because usually at this time of year it is wall to wall people ... it was perfect for me because I'm short and I hate crowds! The situation is definitely affecting local business which is too bad!

Jeremy has decided he would like to try a recipe for Indian spiced roast cauliflower over red cabbage and brown rice with a tahini sauce. I gave him the list of recipes I had picked for this week and he said this one sounded good to him. So that's what we will have for dinner. Oh scrapmaven I painted my toes teal. You inspired me with your turquoise.

bc2ca - it’s going to be stinking hot here all week, and I have the Olympics to watch (we’re in the same time zone as Paris), so I think I’ll be fine! 😀 I’m still going to try to get out for a walk early each day - we’re in a quiet neighbourhood, so I shouldn’t run into many people, if any.

The problem is there is nowhere for the displaced Jasper tourists to stay ... Banff and Canmore are sold out many many months in advance ... the Jasper people have been forced west toward Vancouver or east to Calgary ...

I liked dinner but it did not agree with Jeremy's stomach. I did a wild rice/brown lentil mix. Topped with shredded red cabbage. And then Indian spiced roasted cauliflower and a drizzle of tahini sauce. I liked it.

What fun photos leannec ! I'm glad you had a great catch up with your friend. Congratulations jeremysgirl , you must be very proud of yourself. You're doing so well, for something that is so hard. For dinner I had rechauffe Thai from our dinner out on Thursday night. I also made a Biscoff slice. It's nice, but OMG, so much sugar and fat and calories! I could only have the smallest sliver of it. This might be a silly question, but do you have Biscoff biscuits and Biscoff spread in the US and Canada? I'm sure sueg can get them in Germany, seeing that her next door neighbours in Belgium invented them. ETA photo of the slice. It matches my chopping board!
