I love this thread. Maybe being here will get me back into scrapping! Had surgery this year, my mom was diagnosed with multiple mylenoma in which she is not a candidate for stem cell. She has requested all of her kids come home for xmas. I expect this to be her last so I will be documenting so much! Not scrapping it as I will be out of the country with her and family but taking photos and journaling. If anyone has absolute must document pages I would love to hear about them/see them. I had honestly forgotten about AE and DD. I am rarely on instagram anymore. I was going through my junk folder and saw paper person Halloween and election and thought it was 2023. Not buying anything from her (her lack of buisness skills and sense just won't let me) but maybe for xmas if there is something unique that is relatable to what I will be focusing on this year. I now have 26 pages to go through and read. I am so sorry about your mom. We found out my mom was dying around Thanksgiving 10 years ago and we were able to get together one last Christmas. I loved that we had that chance. Things I did that I *absolutely* treasure now: I had her handwrite names on gift tags then the tags were included in a pocket for my kids to find later. I made sure to video her with everyone laughing and doing Christmasy things-- and then I had a QR code made that when you scan it, it takes you to the video. My siblings love having this. I also made a page telling why I loved my mom. And each year in DD, I always include a page about missing her & our daughter that we loss. I have enjoyed going back and seeing how far I've come in my grief journey - but also I see that it's hard at Christmas when you miss your mom. I made a list of questions to ask my mom and then I wrote her answers down for her since she wasn't strong enough to do lots of writing. I included things like what her favorite Christmas memory was, her favorite holiday recipe, etc. I’m so sorry about your mom, but glad this thread can be a positive. mom, this is such a special and thoughtful response and also just great ways to honor an aging parent. Thx for posting.

I got the same email to expect a shipping delay in my order. I live in Ohio and I get my package very late every single year. They ship it through UPS who then passes it onto USPS and it takes well over a week to get to me after I do get a shipping notice. Ths shipping process is the one thing I dread about DD I go through this each year. One year my box was so late and my album was damaged and it couldn't be replaced by the one I ordered because they were already out of them. I had to find a replacement album. That stinks, I'm sorry! Fingers crossed for a better outcome for us all this season.

If she's up for baking, gather everyone to bake. Write it all down and take lots of photos. Did she get crafty at Christmas? Making ornaments? If so, have her hold them while she tells the story behind it/them. Have her tell the story of her first Christmas with your Dad or your first Christmas. What memories does she have of her Christmas's growing up?

I've tried searching and am coming up blank. I have a Canon Pixma printer. Does anyone use off brand ink and could tell me what kind & what the longevity of the ink is? I've been ordering from Persnickety Prints but I'd love to be able to print at home.

You add your printer model and it gives you replacement options. If it doesn't work, google whatever Canon ink you have now and type 'replacement' with it. It should bring up some choices. suppliesoutlet.com/collections/canon-pixma-ink

I'm not sure what's more surprising--my DD order status moving to "Shipped" this early or the fact that UPS actually has my box and it's officially "On the Way" with a delivery date of this Saturday! Usually it sits at the "Shipping label has been created, we'll update a delivery date when we receive the package" status for several days. I still don't think I'll see it on Saturday but that would be a fun birthday gift if it did show up then. The box is almost 11lbs... yikes!

Ok, so now that the DD ordering window is closed, what else are you needing to order to have a successful DD? I didn't order anything from Ali this year. I've ordered some of Cocoa Vanilla's Christmas line, some from one of the SS lines, and I've got some leftover pieces from last year. My first plan will be to get everything together and work out what direction I want to take my album in, either coral and red, or aqua and dark green. I've got a spare album stashed away so I also need to decide if I want to use that this year or find something that is not quite so similar to the albums I used last year and in 2020. I'll actually build my kit closer to Christmas and use my stash to fill in all the gaps, so for now I think I'm done shopping.

ETA : Anyone else will try foundation pages for the first time/first time in a while?

I've fallen down the Denine Zielinski youtube video rabbit hole. Has anyone else watched her? I love her pages. Anyway, I saw her use a circle cutter that can cut different size circles so I bought one from Amazon. Please share the link if you don't mind. Thank you!

I don’t do foundation pages, but I do something like Linda does. I’ll pull certain pieces and put them in a page protector, to remind me to use together. That’s awesome you have your shipping notice! They seem to be moving pretty quick this year.

I'm planning on doing foundation pages for the first time! Normally I just work on my album after the season but I think this year I want to try something different.

I plan on going through all the guest posts on AE and lifting everything I like, in some form or another. I have a feeling there will be many, many little ginger people in my future!

My order won't arrive until the middle of next week, which I'm grateful for. Still working on various Christmas crafts and this will give me time to finish them up.

I've ended up ordering for four people so we can split international shipping costs. 3 big albums, 3 small albums, and 15lbs 😅 I hope they don't charge more next year because I'm sure this will have been expensive to send!!

My box came today. I thought it would be bigger, but it was packed to the brim!! I haven't inspected everything in detail. But everything I ordered was in there and my albums don't have any problems (I remember the years with album quality issues). The outside of the box said 1lb. Lol! But there is no way that was a pound with 2 albums, all embellishments, stamps, and puzzle.

It looks like my parcel took two or three days to get from Kentucky to Pennsylvania and accross the Atlantic. Yet it will need four days to travel the last 300 miles in France. Ah, well.

I received my shipping notice. This year I think I'll do foundation pages. ETA : Anyone else will try foundation pages for the first time/first time in a while? Last year I was so set on doing foundation pages. It makes sense to me because I'm not the best at sitting down and being creative from scratch. I'm better at loving an idea and scraplifting. However, I was a little hesitant to cut or stamp on something incase I didn't end up using it, or wanted that paper for a different idea after seeing others! I don't really scrap December until January anyway, so what worked better for me was seeing pages I love, and matching them to my stories. So what's the opposite of foundation pages? That's me, lol.

My 9 pound new addition is set to arrive on October 11 - pretty fast to get it to the southern hemisphere in seven days!
I hope they don’t increase the box cost - if they do I’ll probably buy so much less from them/not buy at all as I’m adding enough page protectors etc for the coming year, they are cheaper to buy at scrapbook.com but as I’ve already paid for the box to be shipped I put them in too.

Last year I had to be one of the very last people to get my box. No surprise for no shipping notice yet. I’ll be surprised if I get one in the next two weeks.

I received my shipping notice. This year I think I'll do foundation pages. ETA : Anyone else will try foundation pages for the first time/first time in a while? So for years I did not do them. I think it was in 2020 when I was really sick with Covid and then Long Covid and my one distraction was taking classes and trying out Foundation pages. Those were some of the only pages I managed to get done that year and it was kind of a light bulb moment. Necessity is the mother of innovation . I think being so constrained I was able to be more open and creative with using Foundation pages and make them my own. Since then, I am one of those that will scrap lift lots of fun foundation ideas throughout the fall and then use the ones I want to use. Sometimes they are even filler pages and sometimes they don’t get used for the current year, but I keep for either an older unfinished album or the future. Each year I get better and figure out what I want to use. So I will definitely be doing them again this year. As I have gotten more organized, I have my list of annual topics I like to include and when I see foundation pages I like, I often try to match them up to a topic I want to cover.

ATTENTION * ATTENTIONLast year in the Christmas Card Swap (I believe that's what we called it or maybe it was called 12 night swap or something like that but it was only on the Scrappy side of the board) - someone included a gingerbread man that had a been stitched in a red/white thread. Does anyone know who made this? I love it and the gingerbread man is the perfect size. I hosted that swap and used that gingerbread man in a layout. I can't find a photo of it in my feed. I searched the thread and I can't see any photos of it. It's about 4" tall and must have been made from a die and then stitched. I'll message everyone in the thread and maybe the maker is still on the board.
