That would be a total bummer to loose out on $170 for shoes you can't wear. I have a pair of pricey Keens sitting here that I can't wear. I only tried them on and walked about 2 minutes in them and said, no way. But I messed up and didn't get them returned by the return by date.
As far as retailers not reselling used shoes, I quit going to Famous Footwear for that very reason. The first time I saw a pair of used boxed shoes, I figured someone tried on the new pair, put their old pair in the box and walked out with a new pair. Every single time I went there, I picked up the used pair. One time, my son, grandson and I were all looking for shoes and that particular visit, we found 8 pair of used in the boxes, not the ones that sit out in sight. So I don't know if they think they are hiding them someway by having them in a box or maybe they are return and so many returns are shipped ot each store. These shoes were obviously used too. One even had wear areas in the sole.
