I do not think she is a bitch in this instance. If the reporter is going to ask personal questions during a movie promotion interview then the reporter has be open to that same question as a response. I think it was fine. And I’m tired of people asking women inappropriate personal questions in professional interviews - if you wouldn’t ask a man promoting the movie the question - then think twice before asking a woman. Nothing to see here but a journalist with her shorts in a wad. Looks like this interviewer has started the clock on her 15 minutes.

I know this is all a bunch of gossip and “well I heard…” but I heard the initial reporter story differently. Someone else had dredged up this interview from 8 years ago and after it started making the rounds people reached out to the reporter for comment. She didn’t bring it up after all this time.
I am very surprised by the poor job her PR team (or Ryan’s for that matter) are doing in this situation. They should have shut a lot of this down early on. Like the story of Blake being a mean girl for not wearing a bracelet a reporter gave her while she’s walking a carpet in her fancy dress. She was very polite about it (and I am not a fan of Blake at all) and that could have easily been explained but they’ve said nothing.

Like someone mentioned earlier, the movie director hired a crisis public relations manager (who was also hired by Johnny Depp) and suddenly everybody is talking about what a bitch Blake Lively is. Sounds like Justin Baldoni is getting his money's worth. I like Blake Lively, but I don't expect anybody to be funny, sweet, and entertaining all the time.

I find this all so sad. I have no opinion on Blake Lively’s personality because I have never met the woman. Some people feel they know an actor just because they have seen their movies. That is just their job. I may love someone’s work product but that doesn’t tell me anything about them other than they are good at their job. It must be so frustrating to have to deal with the public, coming up to actors when they are at dinner with their family, asking for a photo or an autograph. And talking about them on social media when they have not met the person either. They are just people doing a job for which they get a lot of money. I don’t know if having so many people giving opinions and telling possibly half true stories would be worth it. They must get awfully tired of the public.

Some how my IG feed turned into this earlier this morning. Watch *one* reel and bam - it overtakes everything. I actually quite disliked this book so I have no plans to watch the movie. Side note. I cannot believe how many people like Colleen Hoover's books. She makes the Twilight series look like great literature. Thank you!!! Every time someone recommends that garbage Verity book, I want to scream.

And using letters to Ellen DeGeneres as way to handle the multiple time lines.

I hate how social media makes people want to cancel everyone. I really have no opinion on her. But I do think the way they tried to sell this latest movie as a romantic movie is problematic. I don't think she should take all the blame for that though.

I enjoy reading all types of books, but I flat out could not understand the love for Colleen Hoover. I mostly listen to audiobook now, and I tried a couple of her books. Awful. As far as the Blake Lively thing - eh... she certainly did have some snarky responses. But I did watch something that showed how edited these TikTok videos are that are making her look awful. They are clipped to be very out of context and not showing the full interaction. This can be very damaging and spin a whole different story.

Here's the deal, she was on Gossip Girl and there was a ton of behind the scenes drama with her involved. She married Ryan Reynolds on a plantation. (BTW, I love Ryan Reynolds. Or the persona I see of him. He may be a complete ass that I don't know about and when I hear he is, I will change my mind.) The co-star has a back issue and had consulted with his doctor on weight to be lifted to not aggravate it. He was not fat shaming her but trying to find out what he could safely lift. Either using someone else or to figure out assistance. She had announced her pregnancy before the interview, so people knew. The interviewer asked about it. Snarky or not, her reply fell flat. Now we know why as the interviewer is infertile. I feel like maybe she is trying to have the snarky comebacks that her husband has. He is able to pull it off, she doesn't. She has projected herself as Ms. All American Good Girl. Sorry, but I don't buy that anyone is all good, all the time. It is not a rom-com. The movie deals with DV. Don't even get me started on CoHo. I DID throw Verity across the room when I finished it. I read It Ends With Us and just didn't know how to feel about it. I decided I just didn't want to read any more of her books. She has had her own controversy in the last year or so, so I feel even better about my decision. Why do I know what I know you ask? My DD is the deep diver of all deep divers and goes down all the rabbit holes to get information and form opinions. She has always liked BL. She said over the weekend, she is just not sure how she comes out of this for the better. My DD is also the fair is fair, people make mistakes kind of person. I feel for her to have the feelings, there is probably a bit more fire than smoke to this situation.

So now I kinda want to read Verity No you don't. It was poorly written. Had a bunch of supposed hot sex scenes that were just ridiculous. It honestly seemed like they were written by a horny 15 or 16-year-old boy. There's a big twist that was supposed to be gasp inducing but was just stupid. Read the summary somewhere but save yourself from reading the book. And it wasn't just that the plot was preposterous it was just badly written on top of being dumb.

Verity is supposed to be her best one, unlike her other books, so the reviews on this thread are changing my mind about reading it. I absolutely hated It Ends with us, and couldn’t make it through some of her other books.

You've all convinced me I must read Verity. I thoroughly enjoyed Twilight and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
My daughter was re-reading Flowers in the Attic the other day and I realized I haven't read those since I was, i don't know, early teens? And I downloaded My Sweet Audrina and am reading it right now. That was the first VC Andrews book I read, I borrowed a friend's paperback when I was 12. Lolol
Definitely re-reading Heaven next. I think. My Sweet Audrina is not quite as fascinating for me at age 52 as it was at age 12. 🥴😁

I'm about halfway through right now. I really don't remember much of it. It was my favorite Andrews book at the time, I remember that, followed by Heaven.

i thought she was going to be america's sweetheart until this whole mean-girl bruhaha happened. sadly, now i can see it. I thought the clips I saw from the interview showed her in a poor light. The snarky answer to the baby bump wasn’t a big deal to me but her and the other actress lose along only to each other as if the interviewer wasn’t there….thats mean girl freeze out behavior. Was it just an exhausted, off day? Maybes I don’t follow her enough to have an opinion on that. I was turned off enough by the behavior to not like it but not enough to form more of an opinion than that. I am sure it’s irritating to be asked the same inane questions but like plenty of people do it at there jobs without the grace to be snarky back. I think as a society we idolize celebrities to the point where we extend them far more leeway than we would anyone else. Imagine a waitress giving a snarky retort when asked for the fifth time in an hour what salad dressings are available when it’s right there on the menu. She wouldn’t get a tip and people would be posting mean yelp reviews. If society can feel compassion for the Blake livelys of the world, being tired and pregnant, maybe we can extend that to everyone.

Does all of this happen while she wears her $19,000 jeans? Knowing several actors and actresses with lots of media and promotions surrounding their profession, the clothes they wear to events, interviews and the like, are not their own.
