Good morning.
Let's start our day by wishing our wonderful, lovable, lucyg a very Happy Birthday. May this year bring healing, hope, laughter and much joy. Happy Birthday!!!
Today I have some chores to do, some puzzle to work on and my voice lesson. My new teacher is a tenor w/a beautiful voice and he's well trained. So, I don't need to correct errors on his part. I'll do some scales throughout the day while dh is outside.
Dinner will be either panko chicken and rice w/veggie or chicken alfredo w/calories and cream. Ods is coming and it'll be up to him. Dh has rechauffe soup from last night.
What's on your menu?
What do you have planned for the week? Dh and I are taking a little getaway and I'm very happy about that. We'll relax, shop for fun stuff and enjoy gorgeous scenery.
How is everyone doing today?
How are your loved ones who are ill?
May this week be filled w/healing for those peas and their loved ones who need it and happiness and calm for all.

What are you doing up scrapmaven? Be careful or you'll soon be keeping my kind of hours! 😂 Chicken Alfredo sounds so delicious. I would love to have that. I hope you have a good time at your voice lesson. I'd love to hear you practice. It's too quiet in my house. Except for those damn birds. Have I told you how much I hate the birds? 😂 I took today off. After last week with my coworker/ boss situation and then well, this weekend I got pelted with all manner of ugly text messages from Chloe. I think that's the real reason I couldn't get moving yesterday. I was just too sad. So I was determined to at least have a day to myself where I could put my phone on do not disturb and just try to have some peace. I wish a very happy birthday to lucyg! You are one of my favorite peas. You don't get older, you just get better. 😘 I thought I had an appointment with my therapist at 9. Turns out it's at 10. So I'm going to read for a while before logging in to talk to her. Then I will bind a quilt. I am going to try to make something for dinner tonight. Last night I had a regular 3rd grade lunch for dinner. These were "chicken" nuggets. With my tater tots and chopped veggies. 😂

Happy Monday! *yawn* I'm just waking up and getting ready for work. I've got a busy day and I'm not looking forward to it but I got the house all ready for the week yesterday so I'm ready to go. Just have to put away my clothes from the dryer. Happy birthday to lucyg! I hope it's a great day for you. Hope you have a great getaway scrapmaven. Going someplace fun? Not sure what dinner will be tonight. I picked up my grocery order yesterday so I've got options. My mom is going to bunco tonight with my sister so I may see if my dad wants to come over. I'll figure it out as the day goes on. Hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven - enjoy your voice lesson lucyg - Happiest of Birthdays to you! jeremysgirl - I'm sorry about Chloe. (((Hugs))) I'm glad you've taken the day off for yourself. Your 3rd grade lunch for dinner looks good - we often do simple dinners. Saturday was chicken patty sandwiches, carrot sticks, and cubes of cantaloupe. Dinner tonight is garlic chicken, festive sweet potatoes, and more cantaloupe and carrots editing: Hi Tearisci - hope your day goes smoothly

scrapmaven Enjoy your getaway! DH and I are talking about taking the train up to NYC (still). I'm not sure when that'll be, but hopefully sooner than later so we can take advantage of as much daylight as possible. Happy birthday, lucyg! Happy day off, jeremysgirl! Tearisci Mondays have no business being busy. Don't people realize we're just trying to ease back into the work week? linda I'm intrigued by your festive sweet potatoes... Dinner this week for us is chili and cornbread. We had folks in our apartment earlier adding wiring for fios, but now I'm annoyed because they didn't mention needing access to the linen closet, so now DH wants me to wash all of our towels out of precaution. And we don't have in-unit laundry. At least it's not like the old place where it was 3 shared washers and dryers for all of the studio apartments and half didn't work.

It feels like fall has arrived! It’s 15 degrees here with a strong north wind. I’m not complaining though, anything is better than the humidity we’ve been having. DH and I went out for supper last night. A favourite restaurant has a fish special on Sunday - a huge piece of haddock and chips for $13. Delicious! Not much happening today. I will go for a walk this afternoon and then take Walker for a walk later on. Tomorrow night is my monthly alphabet supper, Wednesday I’m going for lunch with a couple former coworkers. It seems like all my social activities revolve around food! Happy birthday lucyg! Supper tonight will be marinated grilled steak.

Happiest of birthdays, lucyg ! Have fun on your getaway with Mr. Maven scrapmaven . jeremysgirl , I'm sorry that Chloe is treating you badly. Enjoy your day off. DH is playing in a golf tournament so I won't see him until late afternoon. I'm going to AquaFit this morning and will do some errands early afternoon. Dinner will be something semi-light as DH will have a late lunch at the golf course.

I'm intrigued by your festive sweet potatoes... It's a new recipe for me - I'll try and remember to come back and update results - and brought to us by sweet potatoes and pineapple in my farm box 4 sweet potatoes (about 20oz total) 2 C. crushed pineapple in juice (I'm going to put fresh in a blender and hope for the best) 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 1 Tbsp slivered almonds (I'm skipping these) In a large saucepan, boil potatoes over medium heat for about 45 minutes until you can pierce them easily with a fork (or bake them directly on a rack in a preheated 350º oven for 45 minutes) Let potatoes cool, and then gently peel them. Mash potatoes with pineapple and spices and place in a casserole dish coated with non-stick spray. Top casserole with almonds and bake for 20 minutes at 350º Makes 8 (1/2 cup) servings I'm probably going to halve it since there are only 3 of us and DD is unlikely to eat more than the mandatory Tbsp, lol

Happy Monday everyone! lucyg Happy Happy Happy Birthday! i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/happybirthday.gif I hope your day is filled with wonderful things! jeremysgirl Enjoy your day off, I'm sorry Chloe is being ugly and there is work drama. scrapmaven enjoy your get away! How fun!! Amaziah, the family friend that is in ICU had some ups and downs over the weekend, He had an encouraging MRI on Friday and has an Angio today, this will help determine the next step, it sounds like he is going to require another surgery. Continued prayers and thoughts greatly appreciated. We had a very productive weekend. My son helped with a couple of long overdue minor house repairs on Saturday and DH worked in the garage yesterday, I absolutely hate having so much crap in the garage that there isn't room for at least one car, Granted there is an airplane in the other bay, but he is such a procrastinator, He finally threw cr*p away and allowed me to organize some shelves. We are very opposite when it comes to organization and motivation. I also cleaned out one of our pantries and gave some stuff away. Now to keep the momentum going! I made a stuffed pork tenderloin when my son and family were here on Saturday, the remains may be dinner or it may be something new, DH and I will discuss when he gets back from walking the dog. I hope everyone has an awesome day!!

Happy Hot as Hades Monday! We have been under a heat advisory for several days now, with a few more to go. This past week has firmed up my conviction that August is the worst month here (with Sept. a close second). However, as envious as I am of taylortroop's fallish weather, I remind myself she has to deal with snow! This morning I have to make phone calls/appointments, catch up on filing and squeeze in some sewing time. This afternoon I will stop at Costco on the way to the hospital for gas and a few things inside. DH is very happy with the floor he was moved to this weekend! The staff is top notch and they are experienced with myasthenia gravis patients (it's the neuro floor). Not sure how long he is going to be there but it helps so much that he likes it. I'll be going up in the afternoons this week as DD plans to go in the mornings so she can have her evenings free. Happy Birthday @lugyg! Have a wonderful day spoiling yourself! Happy Day off Work jeremysgirl. I'm sorry you are dealing with family issues again. Enjoy your reading and quilt binding time! Enjoy your voice lesson scrapmaven! Next time we meet up I am going to expect a demo of your talent! Not sure what I'm going to do for dinner tonight. The fridge and freezer are full of options though so I'll see what I feel like eating tonight.

I have no advice ... I am thankful everyday that my daughters and I have a good relationship but there was a time when ex and I first split up that things were rocky ... that's why they live with him ... it's all good now ... Happy happy birthday lucyg! Where will you be going on your little getaway scrapmaven? I don't have big plans today ... I am waiting for a woman to pick up a handbag I sold on FB Marketplace ... I need to get a few groceries ... still need to change the bedding because I avoided it yesterday ... My mum is coming over for dinner but it is supposed to be 29 degrees Celsius here today so I don't really want to cook ... maybe we will get Subway!

This past week has firmed up my conviction that August is the worst month here (with Sept. a close second). We're under a heat advisory too here in DFW. Supposed to get to 107 today with the heat index in the teens. Looks like it should back off some tomorrow and the rest of the week, but I'm staying inside! It was 105 yesterday and my house only cooled off to 80. Luckily, I have a nice ceiling fan in the living room so air was moving around. Stay cool if you can!

Happy Monday everyone. I slept late today and have had a really lazy day, doing my regular puzzles and knitting, with cosy mystery crime on TV. I know I am supposed to be taking things easy, but I still felt really guilty braking out my knitting at 10am. After 2 weeks of hot and humid weather, I woke today to steady drizzling rain and much cooler temps, so it was nice to stay in. lucyg -Happy Birthday. jeremysgirl - I am sorry to hear about the situation with Chloe. She is obviously in a really bad space right now, but you need to protect your own mental health, so DND sounds like a good idea. scrapmaven - enjoy your time away. Dinner tonight is a lamb casserole, taking advantage of the cooler weather. I was going to do a lamb and spinach curry, but DH messaged earlier to say he was feeling a bit ‘off’ so I went with a safer option. There will probably be noodles with it.

How did it become Monday, again? Busy day here. Currently on a conference call that is going to be much longer than I had planned on. lucyg Happiest of birthday's to you! scrapmaven enjoy your getaway. jeremysgirl sorry work and family has been so bad lately. Enjoy your day off. It was such a weird weekend weatherwise. We attended 5 soccer games between Saturday and Sunday and got rained on at some point at all of them. The sun would be shining one second then I would look up and a storm cloud would be over us and it would start raining. It did that all weekend! DH messed his back up Saturday. He can barely move. It sucks getting old. I have so much to do this week. We leave Friday for our annual Vegas trip. We are going to Utah first to hike. We will be there Saturday-Wednesday then drive to Vegas until that Sunday. DH wants pizza tonight. We never just order pizza but I guess we are tonight.

hutchfan, how are you doing today? YOUCH! I hope that you're not sore. **GypsyGirl**, I'll give a grand performance at Central Market in the bakery section. LOL. Actually, I might try and check in for a tuneup w/my doctor in October. If I book something I'll let you know. Next time I come down I would like to see the Holocaust museum. Cheery, 'eh? It's so good to hear that your dh is in a different unit and healing. Thank you everyone. I'm really looking fwd to the trip. DH has never been on a horse and he loves spaghetti westerns. So, he suddenly wants to try horseback riding. He's channeling his inner Clint Eastwood. I've ridden and taken care of horses afterward, many many times and I used to love being on a horse. Horses are wonderful animals. If you treat them w/love and respect they will do the same. So, I pinged my Texas doc ( who had a ranch for years)and asked his opinion about safety, since I break things so easily. We both agree that rental horses are tired and not likely to take off. I do need to be able to climb up on the horse. We're seriously considering it. Dh doesn't want me to tell him what to do. He says he doesn't need it. I'll enjoy watching him sit still since he doesn't want to learn simple things like how to turn right or left. Horses don't just go. You have to make them go and you also have to know how to stop. We're debating. My tailbone is not sure if it's up for the task. I'm looking fwd to just having fun and enjoying time w/dh. rymeswithpurple, I want to go to NYC. It's such a great city and you're very lucky to be w/in weekend trip distance. jeremysgirl, have you seen the veggie tots in stores? You can probably make a much tastier version yourself.

scrapmaven That sounds like a fun trip! DH watches a YouTube channel where an older gentleman and his wife who offer horse lessons (among other things). Their website is currently being redone, but he just seems like a guy who would be fascinating to be with for a few days. (https://www.youtube.com/@drycreekwranglerschool) NYC is about 3-3 1/2 hours away via train, depending on if we do Acela. We're talking about making it a same day there and back trip, but I know we've also talked about doing the Poconos for our anniversary (we'd stay overnight for that one), and DH also wants to go to the beach for a day this summer. Just a matter of when, I suppose. I think NYC needs to be done by the end of September at the latest, though, since we want to have as much daylight as possible.

And because DH is SOOO hot natured, she also took up two portable fans to help keep him cool. Also a throw pillow because it turns out DH is a pillow diva! 🤣 Those two are always up to something!

I am upset because all my bffs are hurting from something. I wish I could help them. I need tomorrow to come quickly.
We are having chicken Cordons with lots of vegetables and salad. I figure I will have an 11 pm snack, too. It does taste good what I eat. (Cream cheese. I just want to be full.) I lost another pound. I try to have 4 vegetables with dinner each night.
