No shame in my reading game!
I love all the Anne Rice books as well as her AN Roquelaure and Anne Rampling erotica/sleeping beauty books.
VC Andrews was my jam in junior high and high school.
I started reading Stephen King in 7th grade and have read all of them but the 5-7 most recent which I’m working on.
I enjoyed the Twilight series
I enjoyed the Maupin “Tales of the City” and related books, probably because I grew up in the Bay Area.
I read Koontz, Saul, Cook, and similar.

Harlequin Romances!
In my defense….
My mother and I had a rather strained relationship. She was an avid reader. (Avid as in when she died they was a huge cabinet in her garage full of hundreds of paperback books. Hundreds, if not a 1000 or more.) She had so many, she kept a notebook\catalogue so she could track and rate them.
At one point in time, over 40:years ago, she belonged to mail order paperback book clubs. She would pass the books on to me to read so we could discuss them. It was overwhelming. I had a family and worked full time. I really didn’t have time to read 20-30 books a month! Besides, I wasn’t a Zane Grey/western, sci-fi or historical fiction fan.
I finally told her I would read the Harlequin Romances (there was another publisher line, but I can’t remember it). I would read during my lunchtime and managed to keep up with her. They were light, breezy, no brainer reading. Then a used book store opened near her. Have mercy. I had to bail on reading with her when I changed jobs.
I have to confess, I did enjoy reading those books. Ha. Guilty pleasure and all that. I haven’t thought of those in years.
I’ll also confess to downloading and reading free “cozy mysteries” from Amazon on my Kindle Oasis. I need to see if it still works and charge that thing back up.

I'm not ashamed....that's what Kindles are for. HA! Flowers in Attic (which I read in 7th/8th grade, too young) Hunger Games Twilight Sue Grafton Kinsey Millhone Series Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series I'm working my way thru the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Once I'm done with that series I'm moving on to the Court of Thorns & Roses series.

It's just more of the same thing over and over, everyone is mad all the time, nothing very interesting happens IMO, meh. I think I have book 5 on my Kindle but if I manage to make it through I won't be reading any others. A friend loves the series so I keep on going to discuss them with her (and to be fair, there an easy read, so not a bad thing to fall asleep to) but this is the last.

I feel like everyone on line was LOSING their minds over the CoTaR series. The Throne of Glass is 8 books, I just started #5. Maybe I'll take a break and read a book from the bag of books my retired aunts gave me.

ACOTAR was… meh. I’m not sure I realized there was more to it, though… the last one I have is 5. Maybe it released after I finished it?
I preferred the Throne of Glass series.

I will occasionally pull a Nancy Drew book out of my collection to read. Sometimes even a Donna Parker and Trixie Beldon book! I devoured them when I was young.
Any Cozy mystery. I read them all the time.
Books about the Paranormal.

I read just about anything. Though, I tend to steer clear of romance. The Sleeping Beauty book I bought because it was pretty actually shocked me in its graphic-ness. LOL!
Went through the Twilight craze with my kid. We visited a number of libraries to pick up the books. Quite fun! They were good for a first read. Doubt I would ever pick them up again. We read and shared a lot of YA when he was at that stage. He had a number of series that he would pass on to me when he would finish each book. Have yet to try Game of Thrones. Jay has discouraged that series. 🤣 It’s funny. My sisters and I would do the same thing with our mother. “Wait until it comes on tv.”
My favorite series is Outlander. But, Jonathan Maberry is quickly becoming a favorite author. His Joe Ledger series is a testosterone filled fighting fest. The characters are pretty fantastic, plus there is his dog Ghost.
King is my original author, though.
What I read depends on my mood. As long as it is moderately entertaining, I’m good.

SO SO many books/authors out there. I’m mostly a mystery/thriller reader. Occasionally I’ll read a family drama like a Diane Chamberlain, Jodi Picoult, Suzanne Redfearn. Also Fall-time I have to read some horror stories for Halloween.
The only book I’ve read recently that fits this category, and also out of my norm, would have to be a biography by Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino - Reality Check : Making the Best of the Situation (How I Overcame Addiction, Loss and Prison). GUILTY - I’ve watched Jersey Shore for years. Happy for Mike that he’s in such a better place in life now.

Once, I read a creature smut book about a man who changes into a Kraken. I was definitely curious as to what this meant for our heroine in the bedroom.
It turns out I'm not the girl for a Kraken. It sounded highly uncomfortable, lots of pressure, like a vaginal ultrasound. I'm not sure the sex scenes were actually written by a human woman.

All the "pucking around" type books or "dirty empire" types... nobody i know in real life will admit to reading *those* type books... Female with multiple partners... alone and together... or true bdsm more hard the 50 shades... not a lot of people like to read real true smut... Dark and dirty erotica lmao my kindle is SO full of reverse harem erotica this last year!

My guilty pleasure is the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series. They put the fun in fluff.

I just want to say that if I hadn't read My Sweet Audrina when I was 12, it would certainly NOT have been something I particularly enjoyed reading. Opinion at age 52, this book sucks.
Re-thinking my plans to re-read Heaven!

In my teens and twenties I read every book by Virginia Andrews, Danielle Steel, and Jackie Collins. I felt no shame, and proudly displayed them front and centre on my Ikea Billy bookcase. (However if I wanted to read one now - which I don't - I would have to put a different cover on it so nobody could see! Mind you, that wouldn't be an issue on my Kindle.) I recently reread Zoya by Danielle Steel - After I read it when it was published (when I was in High School,) I went on to study Russian History, so was curious about how she had portrayed it. It was a pleasant, fluffy read - though as I suspected, I know too much now
