If you were to get a shot in the arm, would you pick your dominant or non-dominant arm? I am right-handed but I prefer to get my shots in my right arm. I sleep on my left side, so if my left arm is sore from a shot, it bothers my sleep. And I figure I am moving my right arm a lot so hopefully that gets the soreness to go away quicker.

I sleep on my dominant arm (or on my stomach) so non dominant arm is my preference. Blood draws I don't care. Which ever side they want. I have good veins on both.

I answered dominant but it’s not really my choice. I had breast cancer and had lymph nodes removed on my left side so I can no longer use that arm for shots, blood pressure or blood draws. So I have to use my right which is my dominant side.

So I have to use my right which is my dominant side. I am exactly the same. Right side for everything where possible, due to breast cancer on the left side. With my recent brain tumour surgery, I think I had a line in my left hand - I didn't see it, but my hand was badly bruised on day 2 after surgery - but I had something like 5 lines in, so they probably ran out of veins on the right!

I always ask to have injections in my left (non-dominant) arm but then regret it because I sleep on my left side and it always bothers me at night. 🤪

I had sentinel nodes removed from my right armpit so all bloods/shots/blood pressure (OUCH have to be on the left.
As to which is my dominant side, that's more difficult to answer. I write with my right hand but can only throw/catch balls with my left, and the list goes on. I'd say I'm ambidextrous, but it's not that I can do everything with both hands, more that it depends on what the thing is that I'm doing. I'm dextrous-confused.

I always get the flu shot or COVID vax in my non-dominant (left) arm. I sleep on my right side, so it's better to have it in my left.

Normally left arm for shots BUT in the Autumn/winter months GP's have days put aside for just Flu shots plus Covid shots together so Flu shot in one arm & covid in the other .
And as for blood draws whatever arm the nurse can find a decent vein that day lol

If they area already set up to draw from one side, I'll go with that side. Otherwise, I choose my dominant hand so I'm sure to keep moving it around and using it.

Shots in my non-dominant, but blood draws in my dominant because I have a good vein on that side.
(I sleep on my dominant side, so that's part of the reason for avoiding shots on that side.)

I get shots in my non-dominant side ... weird because I sleep on that side ... never had a problem with pain!

For blood draws, whichever arm they can find a vein. I drink tons of water and wear a jacket, but it's still a crapshoot if they'll find a vein. They even go into my hand sometimes. I'm always relieved when I see this one tech because he gets it right every time.

I also have mixed dominance - fine motor skills are primarily right-handed, gross motor skills are primarily left-handed To answer the actual question - with the exception of the tetanus shot, I don't care - whichever is easier works for me. Tetanus - my right because my arm hurts for so long (several weeks) afterwards and that's more of an issue with lifting/carrying/tossing than it is for writing.

I am left handed and tend to get it in my right, but like katlady it is because I sleep on my left side with my left arm under my head/pillow - so if my arm is sore it is bothersome and hard to sleep.
Last time I got my Covid and flu at the same time and they would not do them in the same arm because if there was a reaction they wanted to know which one was causing it.
Blood draws are wherever they can. I have weird veins and even after drinking a lot of water my blood draws can be problematic.

Non dominate but not because it's not my main hand arm but because my dominant arm has a huge keloid scar from the DUI accident where shots and vaccines go. So no choice in the matter.

I've had a mastectomy of my right breast so I automatically get everything done on the left. I have to for blood draws and BP so I'm just used to the left. I'm right handed and even if I didn't have to use the left arm, I probably still would.

There is some research to suggest getting a shot in your dominant arm lessens the duration of muscle soreness after because you’re using that arm more and thus working the muscle more. Anecdotally, I find this to be true and feel like my arm soreness doesn’t last as long if I do my right arm.

I'm right-handed and get my shots in my right arm because I sleep on my left side. I can deal with a sore arm while I'm awake, but don't want to try to ignore it while I'm trying to sleep.

I prefer dominant as I use it more and I've heard that helps ease the soreness.
I sleep on both sides as I toss and turn so either way if it hurts, it screws with my sleep.

I would put down other cause it just depends on the day I guess. I guess it is usually my non dominate arm, but for whatever reason it could land on my other arm. I guess I don't care.. I weigh the options at the time and go with it.

So I have to use my right which is my dominant side. Same here! I have to go for a general exam today and my blood pressure will need to be taken in my lower right arm. My right shoulder had surgery a few months ago and my biceps in that arm are still very sore.

Im pretty ambidextrous, but there is more favour to my right arm. I am also a rather strict left side sleeper. I get shots in my right arm.
As for blood draws, I only have one spot that is willing to readily give up blood. It's in my left elbow crook and I am very protective of it.

Another member of the Cancer club who doesn't have a choice in the arm used for blood draws/shots. It has to be dominant. Prior to that I had no preference.

So I have to use my right which is my dominant side. I had nodes removed from both but it was like 1-2 on one side and 2-3 on the other (I can't even remember!), so I just do left usually. It has the best juicy vein and it's non-dominant so better for shots. I don't care what side the BP is on.
