Happy Birthday beachy! I hope it's been an awesome, wonderful day! LOL grammadee I hope you get some scrappy time and DH out of your hair for awhile! Awww nylene, so happy you got newborn baby snuggles I hope you will take it easy on your shoulder. I had such a great time Monday! I need to put finishing touches on a second sample and then I'm going to start working on the ones others have posted this month. They are all so great! Bess is settling in pretty well, and she's so much fun. Young enough to have some playfulness left. Rudy will love her. Football starts tomorrow night!! Oh shoot. And the game is here, and I didn't even think to get out and pick things up beforehand. Got to get that back on my radar lol.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! DH and I went out to dinner and I had lots of lovely phone calls from family, including a video chat with my sweet grandbabies. Today was DGD’s first day back to school so Puppa and I wanted to hear all about it.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! DH and I went out to dinner and I had lots of lovely phone calls from family, including a video chat with my sweet grandbabies. Today was DGD’s first day back to school so Puppa and I wanted to hear all about it. Sounds like a perfect birthday.
Yesterday after church we went out to Tori's to meet baby Myles. We had him pretty much to ourselves until all the rest of her family arrived and wanted turns. LOL.
So jealous of those baby snuggles. Why does their hair smell so good?
We left there and went to DH's cousin's home for a barbecue. By the end of the day I could hardly lift my arm at all. Driving is really hard on it, especially right turns, and turning around, backing up, etc. I will be glad to get this surgery behind me and try to get some PT to be able to use my dominant hand and arm again.
Oh I hope your surgery helps with that! Dh is struggling with hip pain this week. Not from the surgery site (surgery was two weeks ago yesterday) which has healed nicely. Combo of doing a little extra from right after surgery and stopping his post surgery meds. I think that post-op period reminded him what it feels like to have reduced pain. We see his doctor next Tuesday, and are making a list of everything that needs to be dealt with. I am hoping he will agree to have her refer him to an orthopedic surgeon again and I want to follow up on her referral to the Seniors clinic. Hoping she asked them to move him up in the triage line, but not sure if she did.
At least this morning he was willing to talk about his situation. This week he has been waking up for the day about 3:30AM. He refused to take the opiods I wrangled out of his doctor last week, but this morning agreed to try taking one at bedtime so he has a better sleep. On top of the pain and lack of sleep, when he does feel a little better he wants to do something useful. He also keeps thinking of useful things I could be doing. All this is making him--okay and me too--a *touch* moody.

grammadeeThere is nothing like a man who is aging and losing his ability to do things he has always done. I recall one day that Ken came in the back door, just MAD, he stomped off to the bedroom. When I asked what was wrong he was mad that he couldn't pick up an 8 foot long 4x4 with one hand because "I've always been able to do it" Sending you and him positive vibes.

((((Hugs))) grammadee and your DH also - it's so frustrating for them to not be able to do the stuff they've always done and built part of their identity around being able to do. DH is only in his 50s but he gets so upset about not having the stamina and strength he used to have. I hope your dh is willing to listen to the doctor so things get easier.

grammadee, I was thinking that you had convinced him to have the hip surgery. I now remember you were just encouraging it strongly. I'm glad he's healing from the hernia, but hope that he can be convinced that the surgery is better than continued, forever, pain. beachy, your birthday sounds nice. Visiting with grands is always great, even if it's virtual. Growing up it would have seems like science fiction to think you could see and talk to people far away on a little phone! joyfulnana, I look forward to meeting Bess. I'll bet Rudy will love playing with her. gramma, your description of aging men hits home here too. Just add not being able to see and read anything just adds to the frustration. Linda, I guess getting older gets to all of us eventually. No wonder my dad was such a grouch!

Happy Thursday! Waving hi to you all and hope you are having a nice day. I've been taking this art business course this week online and boy is it good. It goes until next week and I am hoping it helps me get my art business up and running. So no painting this week so far but look forward to getting back to my art projects. nylene - Thanks for the new thread. Man, this year is going by fast. Awwww, baby time. So glad you get to see and spend time with you dgks and dggks. SO precious!!! joyfulnana - Miss Bess looks very nice and relaxed! SO happy she joined your family. Lovely girl! Oh, Sketchtember is here and I will pop over and see what everyone is doing. My scrapbooking mojo is low but maybe I will be inspired to create a page or two.

Glad you're finding your course good and I hope it is helpful kellyr21 - thanks for popping in. I started this layout last weekend but after picking out photos, a sketch, and an embellishment - I just couldn't seem to pull papers together. So it's sat on my desk all week. I put the embellishment back in the box and pulled an old (2010) kit out instead and voila -the layout pretty much made itself.

Linda, I think your page came together beautifully. I love those cute little tulips and that cute little bunny. That background paper is so pretty. That's the kind of paper I cut out the center so I can use it on something else. Did you do that? Love that cute little tulip sticker(?) with the double mat. Perfect colors! I am hoping to get some cleaning done in my scraproom so I can actually scrap this evening. This room seems to be the catch-all for everything around the house! I am still working on making all my birthday cards for the rest of the year so I don't have to do them one-handed.

kitbop thank you! Tonight did not go to plan lol. Rudy was here for an hour while dad was running a errand. And I was on at the phone at work with one of the sales guys about an problem we are trying to solve. The entire time Rudy was here. I barely got to see them together at all, no pics . I'm getting really bad about taking photos. I really don't take very many lately.

Thanks for joining me last night gramma , justjac , nylene , Linda - I was feeling so drained that I couldn't make myself try the craftroom without moral support. I got 1.5 pages done and felt much better for it! joyfulnana - I'm sorry work dug it's claws into you after hours! That stinks. Give us a shout if you want to crop another time this weekend? This evening or tomorrow??? I'm toying with the idea of rousing someone in the house to go to farmer's market with me. Yes, it's 9:15 and I'm the only one up! Being the first up is my lot in life, and is accompanied with start coffee/empty dishwasher/clean messes/animal care so I think it's kinda mean of them to stay in bed We have an abundance of small farm stores if you drive 10 minutes out of the city, but I love wandering around the bigger farmers markets where I can choose from multiple vendors and products. 10 minutes away is my city's smallish market: it's more expensive because there's less competition, and it's less fun. 30 minutes and 40 minutes away are 2 large markets which have local farmers, crafty vendors, and things like fresh apple fritters, bakeries, flea-market type booths, and vendors that bring produce from the "Toronto food docks" - so imported produce likes grapes, orange - but cheaper than in store. I'm thinking of the 40 minute one today and roam around for a while!

(((Hugs))) kitbop - glad the scrappy time helped. I'm usually the first one up but DH was already gone this morning when I got up at 9. Your farmers markets sound nice - I've been to the Growers and Makers market here - but it's almost exclusively a mix of mlm, resellers, and a few booths of actually made by the sellers items and almost no food/farm goods...I think I saw eggs a couple of times and baked good - no produce at all. Today I have my monthly phone call with my friend and then it's errands day - library, groceries, etc...

Good morning, Pokeys. Glad the crop helped you get into the scrappy mood, kitbop. Your farmers' Market sounds wonderful. My garden is just down the hill, and I need to get in there and pick some stuff this morning. Planning on making my grandmother's recipe for pickled red cabbage for supper. Tomorrow, dd & dgs are coming to pick off all the tomatoes and cukes so we don't have to worry about frost. Great pages, Linda, as always. Before I head out to the garden I was hoping to put a LO together, with either joyfulnana's sketch or a combo of challenges #6 and #7, but not sure if that will happen since I have not even pulled out the photos yet.

Happy Birthday beachy! I hope you had a wonderful day! I wanted to drop in and say hello! I want to get back into the habit of checking the MB. I need to do some reading to get caught up. September is my Great Cycle Challenge month. It is a fundraiser to raise money for children's cancer research. I have pledged to ride my bike 100 miles this month. I am about to go for a bike ride. So far I have done 21 miles out of 100 not counting what I do today. Work feels unstable right now. My manager I have had the last few years applied for a manager position for women and newborn. I didn't know that was a dream of hers. She got the job and we haven't had a manager since the end of July. Our new assistant nurse manager is the interim manager. She started in May but she came from being an assistant manager in a branch about 45 minutes away. She has applied for the manager position. They are going to split our unit and get 2 managers. That means splitting the staff between the east and west sides of the unit. Since 2020, they have doubled up our private rooms. We have gone from having 36 patients to 56 patients. With all that came more staff to support that many patients. They have decided that was too many employees for one manager. We are unsure how they will split us and when we will know. They want to get this done by October 1st with the new fiscal year. They interviewed someone from outside the hospital for the east side and then our interim manager applied for the west side. Next weekend, I am attending the We Create crop. I need to get things together and decide what I will work on. I still need to scrapbook my Costa Rica pictures. I hope everyone is doing alright and hope to catch up soon.

knutschen - glad to see you! Awesome that you get to attend an actual crop next week. I have a PT student at work right now and he asked me, "did you ever consider leaving the hospital and if so, why?" and my answer was "Twice. Both times due to a manager". So I think I understand how your manager situation makes the whole workplace feel unstable! A good one has your back. Lack of a manager, or a bad manager, can create such a negative environment. Good luck getting thru the changes!

knutschen, so nice to see you checking in! I am glad you are well and taking the biking challenge. That will keep you pretty busy this month. I would love to have you post your WeCreate pages to this thread. What fun to be doing that crop. I am sorry that things are so up in the air at work. I hope when you get your new manager, she/he will be easy to work with and that things run smoothly. I am still looking forward to seeing your Costa Rica photos. grammadee, that garden produce really keeps you hopping to weed, use or preserve all you grow. I wish I lived next door and could take advantage of your sharing of the harvest. Are you still dog sitting or did they return home? kitbop, thanks for starting a crop. I really accomplished a lot in about 3 hours, one page and 13 cards. It stirred my desire to scrap so I finished another page today. I needed that. Did you get to the farmer stores today? We have lots of fruit stands but not many garden produce stands. Linda, your pages are excellent. I love that big photo of Dusty and the photos of the deer in your yard. Those trees are the perfect color for this layout. That floral Hawaiian-look paper is beautiful. I love the way you used it on both sides. Great flamingo die cut. The background paper for your swimming page is perfect with the pale water words. I love the 4 photos lined up on the 2 pages. Another for me to scraplift.
I will post the cards later.

Planning on making my grandmother's recipe for pickled red cabbage for supper. Tomorrow, dd & dgs are coming to pick off all the tomatoes and cukes so we don't have to worry about frost. is your grandmother's recipe a closely held family secret or is it sharable? I love red cabbage and I suspect I'll get some in my farm box this fall/winter. September is my Great Cycle Challenge month. It is a fundraiser to raise money for children's cancer research. I have pledged to ride my bike 100 miles this month. I am about to go for a bike ride. So far I have done 21 miles out of 100 not counting what I do today. wow - very cool! nylene - love that lunch date page with all the happy fast food embellishments! Great job with the sketch. And wow -Eddie is looking so grown up! I love the simplicity of the college grad layout - keeps the focus on the graduate! just one layout so far today

Happy Saturday! Well, it been HOT out here for the last few days and I am so glad my little apartment is hanging in there and keeping me/us cool. LOL! Hopefully, this heat wave will pass in the next day or two. I am so ready for Fall weather. So we are staying in pretty much, resting and relaxing. justjac- Happy back to school time! I hope your new school year is going well. linda- Your layouts are so wonderful! I like seeing your cats, too. They are beautiful and look so content. nylene- Your layouts of your dgds are so precious! So glad you get to see them grow up. Yesterday, I was on my blog looking at an old post and saw a sweet comment from our dear Cindy. It was from 2012 when I first started learning to draw. It warmed my heart and she believed my work could be in a museum one day. Well, I did have my gallery show and I hope for more opportunities like this. She was right! LOL! As I was looking at my early art it is still so amazing how far I have some since then. What an adventure and glad you gals have been along the ride with me. grammadee- Your grandmother's dish sounds like a warm meal to have with fond memories. My grandma was a good cook, too. I especially loved her burritos and soul food dishes. kitbop- Did you make it to the farmer's market? We have one in town and I should check it out when it cools down. AussieMeg- Waving hi! joyfulnana- What a great game that was with the Chiefs. Congrats on the win! Ron's team played yesterday. We had to pay to watch but it was worth it for him to see his favorite team. I hope your dgs and Bess will become best pals soon.

Linda , thanks for your comments. I always enjoy your kitty layouts. I love the way you incorporated the bees and the yellow paper. Definitely a "honey"! You are such a quick scrapper. I have added another 3-4 of your layouts to my pinterest. kellyr21 , how fun to find a comment from Cindy. I still miss her so much. I think of her often. I haven't heard from Maggie for a while, but we only correspond a couple of times a year. She and Bobby are all grown up! I have loved watching your art develop. Your friendship painting is next to my calendar so I see it every day. I still just love it and really enjoy it. I hope you get some real Fall weather soon so you don't burn up down there. This has been a strange year for weather. Ours is getting much more comfortable. Thanks for your comments on my pages. Here are the cards I made using strips and left overs in my strips jar. Just A Note
@homeschoolmum, that White House is amazing. I love the way you used patriotic paper as the background. That big circle design is made for this layout. I hope he finds the pieces he needs.
