Linda, I totally agree with your opinion of the debate. I think candidates prepare so much for the debates that they often don't answer the questions because they want to get out what they have practiced. I'd love to see a debate on the spot with no preparation. I think it would show whether it's the same old rhetoric or if they actually have ways of accomplishing their goals. kitbop, thank you so much for caring for me long distance. I have never thought of a 4 wheel walker. We have a regular walker downstairs, but one handed would make me worse. My kids heard someone at the hospital say they thought because of my kidney issues, it took longer for the anesthesia to leave my body. Have no idea if that is a thing. My neighbor handed me a gift at church, an oximeter. If I use it and am reminded to breathe deeply periodically and STAY IN BED (or seated comfortably)mostly, I think by the 3rd day I should be back to my just normal clutzy. Having the sling and the box-thing under the arm shifts my center of gravity. I need to learn to adjust to that again. grammadee, I happen to like your opinions, especially when it relates to your own family! That doctor was totally rude. justjac, pretty, pretty fingers! I asked DH last night if we had seen the kind of shooting headlines in Japan that we are now seeing here, would he have let Angie go to Japan when she was 16. His response was, "absolutely not!" I'm afraid this will shut down student exchanges between countries. Angie's experience led to a job in Japan and lots of great opportunities. I would hate to see that program end, but I would understand.

OMG justjac - that triple murder must have been 2 blocks from you? Yes... I flew to my address book to make sure you weren't at "50th Street and 47th Avenue" as reported by the CBC. It's funny when people say, "oh, I know someone in Canada. Do you know John?" but NOT funny when we're talking about a smaller place like Lloydminster

Thanks for your concern kitbop and Linda. It was more like 8 blocks. Closer than I’d like but outside our neighborhood. Dean noticed the increased police before we heard about the murders. The news said it was targeted, and the public isn’t at risk.

justjac - glad it wasn't closer but that's still awfully close for comfort. Good to know there's not a public risk.

Haven't been listening to the news this last few days, so hadn't heard. Glad it was not your neighbourhood, justjac. Hope the RCMP can soon capture those responsible. Developments in dh's appointments. The Seniors' clinic in Edmonton called to set up an appointment for dh the same week as his hip consult. I called the bone & joint clinic and they were able to change his afternoon appointment there to the day before the morning appointment at the Seniors' Clinic (which will be a full 3 hour appointment involving people from several specialties, including an internist). So we can drive up one morning and home the next afternoon. And while I was talking to the bone & joint clinic, they agreed to send their requisition for Xrays to our local hospital, so no need to go any further than that for preliminary tests. Didn't do my baking yesterday cuz I was delayed in using the food processor while we were waiting for Home Care to show up. But the zucchini is now processed, with the majority frozen in zip lock bags, but I kept enough in the fridge to use for baking today. And I plan to make sweet n sour ribs for supper tonight as per dgs's request, and that will take up the oven for this afternoon. So I should prob get into the kitchen soon. Have a great Friday!

grammadee - good news for your DH's appointments - that'll be more convenient all around for you. sweet and sour ribs? those sound good. DD love ribs but I'll be honest, I usually buy the ready to cook version

justjac, I had not heard of the murders and had to look it up. I hope your city recovers from the shock and sadness. grammadee, good news for DH. It looks like things are moving toward getting him help. Glad that the preliminaries can be done near you. kitbop, when will you get your new Katie Kitty? kellyr21, did you feel the earthquake? It wasn't that far from you, was it?

Good Morning! So great to chat last night. Linda your pages are wonderful! The rays are *chefs kiss*. I love that page. Your journaling reminded me that growing up we had a patchwork quilt, that I thought one of my grandmothers or greats had sewn. And I haven't seen it in decades. I'm going to have to ask where that went. Mom had an old button jar too. Wow the memories that is stirring up. Today is groceries, hoping to check out the gallery, and get caught up around the board. Cleaning, and unfortunately, some work for a bit. I hope to scrap this evening, but if I'm being realistic I will probably knit and catch up on Only Murders. I'm 2 weeks behind. I'm on the last blanket, but I've only just started it, so that will probably get at least some attention this weekend. Tomorrow I will be homebound since the Chiefs play at home. I don't mind it, it's a great excuse to stay in for the day . grammadee I'm so glad they are working with you on appts for DH.

Quick drop in this morning while dgs is "getting ready for the day" upstairs. We have some chores he will help me with this morning, and then this afternoon he & I will meet justjac and another friend at a "vintage farmers' market".

Happy Saturday! Waving hi and hope you al are having a restful weekend so far. I am listening/watching SBC Fest now and saw a little earlier. Did you all watch? We are planning to have a mini day trip this afternoon. It's been so hot the last few weekends so now that the temps have come down, I am excited to get out to one of our favorite places and just relax and recharge my batteries. Yes, nylene we did have an earthquake and I felt it. I was ok but what a way to wake up!!! But it wasn't too upsetting because I went back to sleep sometime later. LOL! Yesterday, I started a new art video yesterday. This one is a tutorial of how I make my floral arrangement paintings. I hope to finish it this week. grammadee - So happy your dh is getting the appts he needs. Hang in there! Glad to hear you are baking and cooking. I wish we all could fly in and have dinner with you. That would be so cool! linda - Nice work on your layouts. joyfulnana - Enjoy your Chiefs tomorrow. Have you ever been to one of the games? justjac- Love your nails! They look so pretty. Also, I saw your layouts in the gallery and they look fantastic.

Thank you joyfulnana - when I originally took the photo for the quilt page, I was thinking cat but then decided I wanted to document the quilts. I have two others mum made - my crib quilt and a applique quilt she made me in the late 70s. I need to pull them out and take photos. Good luck to your Chiefs! grammadee - hope the vintage farmers market was fun! kellyr21 - thank you. Enjoy your day trip - glad the heat is easing a bit for you. Yikes on the earthquake. Got my haircut this morning and then did groceries. Doing desk stuff now and then some housework. Hoping to scrap this evening.

grammadee & justjac I wish I could join in today. A visit to the Farmer's Market sounds nice if your weather is like ours. It's warm but not hot and there is a bit of a breeze. Perfect Fall weather. Have a fun time together. joyfulnana , that was fun chatting last night. Thank you so much for hosting. I was happy to get a small glimpse of Bess. I hope she will get friendlier with your scrapping friends. I was tired last night and making mistakes so decided to quit early. I hope to finish the birthday card tonight. Linda , I love the layouts you showed us last night and the ones posted today. I can't believe how fast you scrap. Love the rays on the quilt page and the jam page is really pretty. I think I will scraplift that one. The Bee Humble, Bee You is a great page. I'm sure she will love it. I love the Dali Museum and the palm trees page is fabulous. I love, love, love palm trees because we never see them here. Beautiful pages all. I hope you don't mind that I added to my Pinterest. kellyr21 , hooray for cooler temps. I hope you have a great getaway with DH. I look forward to seeing your process video when you get it finished. Keep in touch. ETA: kellyr21, the first earthquake my kids ever felt was when we were staying in Downey with my sister. It really freaked them out. They all vowed to never live in CA. We have since had a few distant ones here and I guess Anj decided she'd take her chances on CA. LOL

Happy Monday, Pokeys! Spent the morning playing with paper in bits and pieces of time, waiting for call backs and for dh's Home Care appointment. Decided to use my time to put together some CARDtober sample cards. Funnily enough I now have more CARDtober samples completed than SKETCHtember LOL. It helped that I had some scraps left over from last fall's LSS crop, all in one Ziploc bag, with the colours and textures I needed. Just have one more to make, which will wait until I pick up a die from justjac tomorrow. Then I will have not only all my CARDtober samples done, but also all the cards I need to send out in October.

well done grammadee - glad you got to play with paper and look at you being all prepared for October! Another bad-sleep night for me so I'm moving slowly today. I did finish organising the 2012 DC trip album yesterday - sorted the photos by layout into page protectors, dug out themed embellishments and added those to the appropriate page protector, cut some titles that I had cut-files for and added those in. So hoping I can either start scrapping that or tackle the August 2024 layouts for the big kids' album for which I matched photos and sketches yesterday also. A few more house chores first though...

gramma, those pages are amazing. You have the best titles! Always so perfect and easy to read. I will catch them up close in the gallery. grammadee, what great photos of your outing with justjac. I love the photo of DGS being so helpful. He's a lucky boy to have you for a gramma!! Linda, I am sorry you had a bad night. I hope you get a bit of rest today and have a better night tonight. I love your horse page. That is a great way to use that sketch. I love the way the papers blend so well. Very pretty. Today DH and I tackled the house, getting it cleaned for the time I can't clean. I was quickly exhausted, but DH just kept going. I'm glad he doesn't mind helping with home chores. We are pretty much set for the first two weeks of meals that he can prepare and hopefully I will be up and able to help somewhat. I finished this page Friday night, but haven't had a minute to scan and post. It's for sketch #2. A Class Act

Happy Monday! Waving hi to you gals. Wishing you a good week. We did get to one of our favorite spots yesterday and it was relaxing. There is a small downtown area that we walked around the cute shops. Then, we stopped at our favorite bakery and got some cake. So yummy! Afterwards, we went over to our best spot and parked. The ocean breeze and sunshine was just want I needed. linda- I am moving a little slow, too but hopefully after my afternoon walk I will have more energy. nylene- Yeah, those earthquakes are not fun but I guess I am used to them. I am still praying for you and hope you feel much better soon. Hang in there my dear friend!!! grammadee- What fun you all had at the market with justjac. justjac- Your deck turned out so nice. I can imagine you all having lots of BBQs out there next Summer. Any other home improvements of next year? Best wishes on your new school year.

gramma gorgeous layouts! The one with the rays is so striking! nylene love your school page! Such cute photos and embellishments. I want to do one of these types of school layouts, with the kindergarten and senior photos… such a great idea. Linda love these pages, such pretty papers and cute photos. I love that bookshelf paper and I want to pet that kitty!
