I've been getting ads on IG for Quince for eons, but never knew anyone who had heard of them, so I've avoided clicking in, but still, they persist. Anything about their fit you'd like to share (short girl here) and or styles/fabrics you've not had luck with? Thanks! I’m average height (5’5”) so keep that in mind. I have a lot of their stretch ponte pieces and really like them—they stretch nicely, don’t pill when I wash them on delicate (the stretch ponte dresses I had from Land’s End pilled), and they are appropriate for work but I can throw a denim jacket over a dress and not look like an idiot at soccer practice. They are just XS-XL, so the sizing isn’t that precise; I would say they run a little smaller than some other brands, but not super small. I also have a couple of their washed buttoned-front silk dresses that I love (I didn’t like the included tied belts and I use my own belts with them) and some cashmere sweaters; the sweaters do pill some. The only thing I’ve sent back have been pants; I am not a huge fan of pants anyway, and the cords I ordered did not really stretch, so I found them uncomfortable. My favorite thing I have gotten there, however, is the cotton tiered maxi dress that has probably been pushed to you in ads. I get compliments every time I wear it and two people ordered it after seeing it in person. It is the best—cute, well-made, pockets, and easy to dress up or down. It’s probably the end of its season, but I wore it this weekend anyway . If you were to buy one, I’d be prepared that you may need to have it hemmed—it is fine on me lenthwise, but it sounds like I am taller than you. Thanks so much, this is super helpful, especially about the sizing. Regarding the dress length, I have never ever found a maxi that works for my short little legs 🥲 Thanks again!

The online thrift stores are great - I mentioned this on the other thread. Places like ThredUp and Poshmark are my regular go-tos — easy to shop online and you can filter for size, color, style and brand. You can also mail in your outgrown or unused clothes and receive credit on new purchases. I highly recommend for anyone open to thrift purchases. Good for your wallet and for the environment. I need to try them. I also need to send them some beautiful, barely worn sweaters from last year that turned out to be a size too big I was still losing weight then and was in between sizes. I think you’ve given me the nudge to actually look into it today. Both for selling and buying. Thanks!

I understand, it can take time and consistency. Its become a bit of a hobby, I should take up pickle ball before my closets overflow. Ha, you made me giggle again It's odd the thrift racks don't make me crazy, maybe its practice from hunting for vintage glassware? I start at the end of the aisle and work my way down. My favorite store sorts by general size and then color, that makes it easier. My shopping mountain is Nordstrom Rack, I cannot handle the shoe section, I'm not ADD but you'd never know it with how it overwhelms me! I wonder if it's because the racks are close to each other and tall. Thanks epeanymous for Quince info, I've been wondering about it too. If I'm not purchasing something out-of -my-box style from thrift, I mostly buy simple classic pieces. Anyone have experience shopping from Pact? I've been getting a ton of their ads.

When I walk into those places, my OCD and anxiety just goes through the roof. I am not normally like that but the amount of stimulus in those places is a bit much. All I see are racks and racks of items that don't necessarily go together and are all different colors and I just can't handle it. I walk out. Yes. This explains how I feel pretty well. I walked into a super Walmart once and had that same feeling. I left before I even got in as far as the checkout. I do enjoy a nicely laid out antique shop, but if it’s a hodge-podge of stuff, I’m outta there.

I agree with others that the jumbled and endless racks at thrifts stores and even at TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack just overwhelm me. I can only stand looking for a couple of minutes. I also can’t do huge clothing sales with tons of people around.
I used to shop in Nordstrom’s petite section, when they had one. I walked directly to the area, I knew I could find my size, without extensive hunting or hemming, and it was all nice and orderly. It was a calm shopping experience. Since I don’t need a lot of work clothes anymore, my shopping has been at smaller stores like Lulu, Vuori, and Madewell. I even shop at Dick’s Sporting Goods for shirts. And I don’t shop that often anymore, maybe go to those stores only 2-3 times a year.

I’ve finally resigned myself to the fact that my pre-baby clothes will never fit again, 3.5 years later. I have been slowly replacing things and have been sticking to a mostly plain, solid color palette. I prefer Old Navy and sometimes if I have the time and patience I’ll hit a thrift store. A lot of the stuff I have bought I haven’t even had a chance to wear yet because it’s been too hot! I’m looking forward to cooler temps so I can wear my new pants and long sleeved shirts.

mostly online but my town is full of charity ( thrift ) shops so every once in awhile I go and have a look around ,
I live near a place called Brighton and they have a shopping area called The Lanes and they sell everything including Vintage markets and I can quite happily spend a full saturday just looking for some nice vintage clothes tho I have to be in the right mood as the city is always packed solid

I don’t have the patience to thrift shop. I’m almost always an online shopper now. I understand, it can take time and consistency. Its become a bit of a hobby, I should take up pickle ball before my closets overflow.bwahahaha!! my DH would agree with this in relation to my estate-sale hobby. Right now my obsession is with fabric / sewing / craft related things, but also clothing. One recent sale I attended was an estate FILLED with high-end designer clothing and shoes. I didn't buy anything, but the people who were buying were saying the prices were very reasonable for those brands. Thrifting / estate-saling is like a 'sport' for me... it's a treasure hunt. I have found some really nice clothes at estate sales; one of my best days was a sale where the woman had been a teacher (I think), and her closet was full of pieces from Talbots, Ralph Lauren, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Chicos, etc. for less than $5 each.

I just bought several dresses and skirts in Thailand, which will see me through this coming summer. Recently I went thrift shopping for the first time in a while, and I bought two pairs of jeans, two skirts, and two blazers for work. I was thrilled with what I picked up!
I buy a lot of dresses on line, from the same 3 or 4 sites. I am familiar with their sizing, so I know there won't be any issues with things not fitting.

I enjoy the chain store "Style Encore" for second hand clothes, especially dresses which I rarely wear. I've gotten great brands, some still with tags. They're pretty fussy about what they take in, so there's nothing stained or too far out of fashion.
They're a franchise, part of the same store group as Once Upon a Child, Plato's Closet, and Play it Again Sports.

I hate clothes shopping. I do some at Kohls. I do some online. I do a lot of Costco shopping.
