I am a one syllable pronouncer. But, for me it's not TOR, it's more TWOER, but a single syllable. I fully came in this thread ready to say "number thirty eight five sixty two" but I pronounce tour like MichyM.

I say it both ways - I kind of go back and forth. I think I use one syllable the most but I sometimes use two

I pronounce it with two syllables, just like I pronounce the word 'here' with two syllables: tour = TOO-uh here = HE-uh

Ds and I were discussing "hour and our" this morning. These sound exactly the same when I say them. In fact they were an often used example of a homophone when I was in elementary school. Around here, both of those words rhyme with shower.

I was going to say 5 syllables, 3,8,5,6,2 but then I realized the actual question. I pronounce tour with 1 syllable.

Two syllables. I’m from the south and we add an extra syllable to most any word! And I also pronounced 38562!

I guess I pronounce it the French way since it's a French word... rhymes with "lure" and "sure" not "tore" with the harder second syllable. I have never heard anyone say "two-er". Two-er. Lure is also pronounced with two syllables. Sometimes I say sure with two and sometimes faster so it comes out with one syllable.

Ds and I were discussing "hour and our" this morning. Hour = ow-er - rhyming with shower and Our = aur A couple of times lately I've come across people mixing up 'our' and 'are' because lazy pronunciation makes our sound like are. "Come to are house later"

Lure is also pronounced with two syllables. Sometimes I say sure with two and sometimes faster so it comes out with one syllable. I actually mistyped there... I didn't mean the second *syllable* of "tore". "Tore" only has one syllable. I meant the hard "r" sound which comes from the "or" combination. The "u" of "lure" and "sure" doesn't do that to the "r".

I say tor but I listen to a podcaster who says two-er and I see how/why one would pronounce it that way.
I do object to a certain area of my state where some say taw. That grates on my nerves.

Hour & our can sound the same but some times our can sound like are( the laid back pirate bench) , it depends on the context somehow. 🤷♀️. For example it’s our ( rhymes with hour ) house but our ( are ) stuff. Like the sentence: Our ( r ) stuff is at our ( ower) house. For some reason unknown to me it is never our ( are ) house. Do not ask me why I didn’t raise me it’s just what it is.
Lore & lure are not pronounced the same

Around here, both of those words rhyme with shower. When I pronounce "hour and our" independently they are pronounced the same. But if I am using "our" in a sentence I might say it faster and it sounds like "are".
