Good morning. Sending all the birthday wishes to our sweet tribemate, hutchfan. May your year be filled w/reasons to celebrate. Happy Birthday. To continue a conversation from yesterday, I'm currently in the south and I'm fixing to go to the doctor in a bit. At home, I use ingredients when I make dinner. **GypsyGirl**, what a scary situation, yesterday. Never open the door, folks. Dh has a friend, really nice guy from dh's former office. The guy moved a few blocks away from us and walks his dog to the park and stops by once in a while. I had only met him once and the first time he knocked on the door I didn't recognize him and after opening the door, thinking he was someone I knew I quickly slammed the door in his face. He texted dh and told him that he was on the porch and that his wife wouldn't open the door to a serial killer. We now refer to him as Serial Killer Sean when he stops by. The trip is fine, but they rented me an electric vehicle and I need to charge it. I tried charging it at free charging station at the mall, but it didn't charge. For anyone w/an electric car, where did I go wrong. I plugged it in, downloaded the Shell app (it was a VOLTA station) and when I came back it hadn't charged. Help? What is everyone up to today? jeremysgirl,ITA w/Jeremy and Delta Dawn, Chloe's visit was an opening. Deeper conversations will happen, but the first visit was likely, "how's the weather". When is your interview? scrappintoee, how was your husband's birthday? Coffee gives chocolate cake a delicious flavor. What's for dinner? (Oh that!) Wishing everyone a happy, carefree day!

Happy Birthday hutchfan ! Enjoy your doctor visit scrapmaven . Regarding the car, I'm clueless. Weird weather but at least it's cooling off nicely at night. By next Tuesday we're going to be back to 95°. Ugh. I have some errands to run. We have things coming up that I need to start thinking about: friends staying with us in a couple of weeks to attend DH and her husbands annual high school golf team get-together and my 4-day crop in October. Dinner will be Jalapeno Chicken Poppers.

Happy Thursday!
I'm dragging today but don't have a super busy day so that's good. I'm just not feeling the brain power today. I have to go pick up my order at DSW today for some boots that were on sale. it's still 97 here but I'm thinking (dreaming) about fall.
Dinner tonight will be meatloaf and I'll either take it to the parents or they'll come over for dinner.
Hope you all have a great day!

Happy Birthday hutchfan ! scrapmaven - no idea on charging but hope you can get it figured out. I like the idea of electric vehicles but I'm not convinced we have the infrastructure for them to really be practical in most areas. love the meme cadoodlebug - you always share very relatable ones PT this afternoon so dinner is going in the crockpot - Creamy Greek Chicken....basically lemon juice, Greek seasonings, and chicken - and then when's done, it'll get shredded and mixed with cream cheese and served in pita pockets with spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers. DD17 will do the shredding and veggie prep. Feeling like there's a ton going on in the next couple of weeks - both cars need to go in the shop, one locally but the other goes to a dealership 2 hrs away; dh will be driving to VA and back at the end of the month to collect DD24 and her cats; DD17 will be turning 18 on the 3rd and we still need to get her to DMV to test for her license (but the car needs to be fixed first); and then DH and I leave for the UK on the 5th...plus I still have PT and another dr appt in there as well.

Happy Birthday hutchfan scrapmaven - we have an EV, but DH does all the charging, so I have no idea, though I have watched him do it once! Linda - the infrastructure for EVs here in Germany is good and getting better all the time. In Munich, there are charging stations at most shopping areas and malls, as well as some in suburban streets. All rest stops with gas stations on the Autobahns have a bank of fast chargers, sometimes 10 or 12, which charge to 80% in 20-30 minutes, which is pretty much the time we would break for a snack and bathroom break. Many office parking garages also have chargers - that’s where DH usually charges our car. The Birdhouse Lady - glad to hear your are on the mend and can go home. I’ve just returned home from meeting up with my church friend for coffee and a knitting demo for her. Now she is confident to tackle her project - it was mainly not understanding unfamiliar instructions. Dinner tonight will be okonomyaki. DH will be home later, so I don’t have to feed him. Only 2 weeks until vacation!

I think my county has one set of Tesla chargers (3 or 4) and one set of standard chargers (4 or 5) and I've honestly not seen any in the surrounding counties -I think we only have them because we have three interstates and several US highways that come through our (small, rural) area.

And I reached out today and invited Chloe to dinner. Weird weather but at least it's cooling off nicely at night. By next Tuesday we're going to be back to 95°. Ugh. It's been in the 80s here and it's going to continue and I hate it. I'm over summer now. I'm ready for some 60s. Good morning from my lovely accommodations here at the hospital. I am going home today and I’m really happy about that. Surgery went well, I am all fixed up with new hardware, 6 screws, and a new disc. It’s been painful but it’s healing pain not like the pain I was having before. I am so glad to hear that you are healing well and surgery went well. Take good care of yourself. Happy birthday hutchfan ! I have a meeting at 2 pm and it was scheduled so long ago, I need to dig through my emails and figure out right now what exactly they are wanting from me. Nothing like waiting until the very last moment, right? I'm sure it will be very rudimentary. This person often gets confused over very basic things. So I'm sure I will be able to answer her questions easily. I'll still go through and figure out ahead of time what she wants. I have decided that I will not be drinking alcohol for a while. I'm a low use drinker to begin with, as I probably only drink one bottle of wine a week. It's kind of a thing I enjoy with a good meal. But in the interest of trying to cut unnecessary calories, I will do that. Another culprit is sugar and I'm working on that one too. Jeremy is not happy. LOL! He wants cookies, damnit. But apparently I cannot control myself. Tonight I will do a reprise of Monday night's meal. Crunchy cornmeal beans (think popcorn chicken/shrimp but in bean form. Yes, they are delicious), roasted sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts. ETA: I can't remember the last time I used the word fixings. I also don't use the word (it isn't a word) y'all. In Michigan, we tend to say "you guys." Although my Chicago raised parents tend to go with yous.

So frustrating if it was a problem with the charger but it shouldn't be a challenge for you to figure out. hutchfan! Dinner sounds delicious and I sure hope someone else is making it for you. And bringing cake! Linda, is your older DD moving home? Or coming to stay with younger DD while you are away? Ignore me it I'm being too nosy, but I have YA that have been in and out a bit. Great to see your update, The Birdhouse Lady! Healing pain is much different from the before before and gets better every day. FWIW, jeremysgirl, I pretty much quit drinking when I figured it was interfering with weight loss attempts. Does anyone else have a DH who likes to hang onto freebies? This is my DH's newest favorite cup. It is from his colonscopy prep kit so I call it his colon cup. I'm off and running to yoga and then the Asian grocery store to grab a few things needed for Eggroll in a Bowl for dinner.

Where would one find this recipe. Anything crispy in my book is a win! And I am just curious. Can one just jump in and ride the meal train thread. I did many moons ago and then I just about stopped cooking so there was no need for me to post anything. But everyone seems chummy now and knows all the things and I hate to be a 5th wheel. But I love seeing what everyone is cooking.

is your older DD moving home? Or coming to stay with younger DD while you are away? Ignore me it I'm being too nosy, but I have YA that have been in and out a bit. She's coming to stay with DD17 (who will be 18 - just - when we travel) but also to visit and get a bit of a break from 'adulting' as she puts it - she lives with DS32 but he's been away more than home this year - he's been to New Zealand, Antartica, Spain, Denmark, Saipan (twice), Guam (twice) and California - and he's been gone since mid-July on a deployment with no fixed return date. He's the main cook when he's home and while she CAN and does cook - she doesn't really enjoy it and she's looking forward to sharing the cooking here (DD17 cooks 2-3 times a week at this point). We'll keep her at least through Halloween and possibly until Thanksgiving. Does anyone else have a DH who likes to hang onto freebies? yes - so much this! BUT at least in this house, he has a big hobby room where he can keep all the things he reclaims when I declutter, lol Can one just jump in and ride the meal train thread yes - I jump in and out myself depending on time, energy, and how long the thread is when I find it, lol, and whether I'm on the computer or on my phone (I hate typing on the phone) but everyone here is super nice.

I am having a slow morning as I slept like crap last night ... big surprise! No big plans for the afternoon so it's no big deal! I am going out for dinner with the ladies group that I meet up with once a month ... they are nice but I haven't clicked with anyone yet ... might not but I enjoy going out to eat so that's good enough for me. Happy birthday hutchfan! So glad to hear that you are going home today and recovering well The Birdhouse Lady! Feel free to join us anytime naby64! The best part of this group is that we hardly talk about dinner!

Happy Wednesday dinner friends!
The puppy and I are in the proverbial "dog house" Yesterday DH went to run errands after I said I had some calls, leaving me with the puppy, While I was leading a call, she chewed on a piece of baseboard. Luckily it's 2 short pieces, so won't be difficult to replace, but DH wasn't happy that I "didn't keep an eye on her" He just doesn't get it sometimes!! But it's fine now and we are both on our way to being back in his good graces. :-)
Dinner last night was at a total hole in the wall German small town restaurant, but sooo yummy and it was great to catch up with my BIL and his wife.
Dinner tonight will be chicken, brocoli alfredo that I meant to make a day or two ago.
Welcome @naby54 We're happy to have you!
@bird house lady Thanks for checking in, I'm so glad you get to go home and are on the road to recovery!

My cottage vacation is coming to an end. Today is the last full day here and we will leave tomorrow for home. It’s been a fun, relaxing, peaceful time and I’ve enjoyed spending time with my SIL. This morning we went out in the paddleboat and then I tried my hand at kayaking. Tonight we will eat at a local fish and chips place which serves all you can eat whitefish.
When I get home, I need to unpack and then pack for my cruise.
Today is my youngest sons birthday!

The Birdhouse Lady, I'm so glad that surgery is behind you and recovery is going well. Wishing you and easy and comfy recovery from here. jeremysgirl, Is Chloe going to join you for dinner?
