Welcome to CARDtober, and to Texture Tuesdays! I will be the host for all five of them this month and all of the Texture Tuesdays will appear in this thread. I love a card that not only pleases the eye, but also our sense of touch. Each Tuesday in CARDtober, we will be creating a card using at least one type of texture. Samples will appear down thread, but all of the prompts will appear in this post.
CARDtober #1: use ribbon or twine. Anything from a simple bow to part of the card front being wrapped in floss to a raffia angel will work to meet this challenge.
CARDtober #8: use something soft, like velvet ribbon or cloth, flocked pp. Challenge #8 on page two of this thread
CARDtober #15: use a scoreboard and stylus to provide interest. Challenge #15 starts on page two of this thread
CARDtober #22: get the most out of dry embossing or pre embossed cs.

CARDtober #1: use ribbon or twine. Anything from a simple bow to part of the card front being wrapped in floss to a raffia angel will work to meet this challenge. Here is my sample. For texture I used twine and a couple of charms for my barrel racing ddil's birthday this week. And if you look closely, you will see there is also some textured gold paper behind the front panel, but this challenge is about use of twine. CARDtober #1 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr This challenge is open to anyone who wants to play. Please post your takes on this challenge in this thread: would love to see what you do to give your cards texture. If you are a member of a Challenge Team, please check the stickied CARDtober thread to see the points up for grabs. Not a team member? No problem--all the play and none of the math!

Nice card grammadee ! The boots are adorable! Does floss count? I'm making these ornaments for the grands but thought they'd look good on a card too. It's a 5x7 card base and I'm not used to that size, but I hope it works. Not mailing them, will give out at Thanksgiving after dinner with their Christmas pajamas.

Love your textured sweater, MDscrapaholic! Definitely “works” for Texture Tuesdays! If you were looking for points, I would ask you to add some twine or ribbon for CARDtober #1, but for people not looking for points, any texture on a card fits here 😉

I think MDscrapaholic is asking if the embroidery floss for the stitching on the sweater counts as “fiber” texture, grammadee.

Here is my CARDtober 1 entry - there is a ribbon at the bottom. The pumpkin is popped but the scanner doesn't show the dimension.

Sorry, @mdscrappaholic: I didn't see the floss. Of course that counts! I probably should have used more than one strand of floss on the snowflake, but I wanted it to appear light. The snowflake is actually cut from sparkle white paper. I'm not on a team, so not worrying about points, LOL. Just having fun!

jjpeapea, your image doesn’t show up for me. Here’s mine. I like anything with a Western/cowboy theme. Since the sample for todays challenge had a cowboy theme, I went with a western theme, too. I used an image that I just happened to print and cut last night. The twine bow was a leftover from a recent project.

Was feeling stiffled on a layout during the afternoon crop so . . . I whipped this up from my various "experiment" and "already done" bins.
The butterfly is left over from a Sketchtember #15 and it happened to match the background I had in my experiment binder. The marbled effect is Tsukineko All Purpose Ink dropped onto white foam shaving cream and water color paper is gently kissed to the surface. I probably made this 4-8 years ago. The A2 base is a Michael's premade card base. The tied fiber is from my stash. The sentiment is from my pre-made sentiments jar and is a BetterPress image.

Limited ribbon options here - I'm not really a ribbon user - so had to go with a Christmas theme. Used a Sheetload sketch - October 2021 I think

So many cool cards! Thankyou for playing along! jjpeapea, I love that ribbon as the greeting on your cool Halloween card! That hat & boots & pumpkin diecut is gorgeous, scrapnnana! And I love that twine bow--so perfect for the western theme! Looks like that tin has alot of treasures in it, angel97701. Love that background, and the fibre/floss gives wonderful touchable texture. Linda, that ribbon looks like it was MADE for this card!

Thank you, grammadee . I am not seeing Linda’s card, or jjpeapea’s card. This happens sometimes, and I am not sure why. Can I ask where you post your images from? If it’s Instagram, I don’t have an account, but it isn’t supposed to be an issue.

Great cards everyone! Thank you grammadee for starting the fun! I used a twine to make a bow not as fancy like scrapnnana's.

Those bows may not be “fancy”, azcrafty, but they sure are cute! Perfect with that acorn in the pretty autumn printed cluster.

The jack-o-lantern against the black really pops, even if you can't see the dimension in the photo.
And the Christmas papers are fun patterns, and the ribbon is perfect for the card.
The problem was definitely my tablet. I logged in to the site on my laptop and can see all of the cards.

joblackford, your giraffe card is cute and really pops. azcrafty, your cards are delightful. I like your choice of papers, and your bow looks perfect. angel97701, your card is stunning! I love your fibers, the textured background paper, and the beautiful, bright colored butterfly.

grammadee Thank you for the texture challenge! I needed a Halloween card for a special young one, so I enjoyed using my Happy Halloween ribbon. So many textures! The barrel racing girl is sure to love it. scrapnnana sooooo lucky you had that cut out on hand. Your twine is perfect for the western elements and the card is perfect for the season. angel97701 Lovely! I wanna touch it!!! Because of so much texture, the yarn, the butterfly, the background paper its very own self, the thick sentiment. And the color combination is so soothing. MDscrapaholic I did miss the floss at first but when I saw it I really liked the way it looks on the card. I think chunkier would not be so nice a sweater. Your card is so tidy! I get glue all over thin sentiments even with my needle glue tip. Linda I love how the very diverse elements of your card play so well together! The real photo next to the pattern, the star and doily, the ribbon. Great Christmas card! azcrafty well done. I love your paper, especially the leaf print paper, and how you layered it. joblackford I had my tablet on large spread out mode and I saw the card before I saw the creator but I still guessed it was yours. It has your style! So cute. The giraffe makes me smile. I feel like he just got done winking at me.

MDscrapaholic that is a very nice sweater card. The floss snowflake is very delicate. jjpeapea A quick and very nice Halloween card! scrapnnana Love the cowboy theme, and don't you just love it when something on your desk is a final touch! Linda Love the torn edges and pretty papers and ribbons. azcrafty Love what you did with the SLoC with the fall themed papers. The bow is a great touch. joblackford Grounding your image is a great idea and the raffia is perfect. Shakti Another SLoC stunner, the ribbon bow works well.
