BTT for new texture challenge

I haven’t, but thinking if I were going to do that, I would glue the ribbon to cs first. Great idea.  Love to see what you decide to do.  

I LOVE your card, scrapnnana! Those bears are so snuggly soft and sweet! Had to giggle, though, after I read the saga of its production and then the greeting!

I know that the MME "Lush" I found for yesterday's cards had a flocked sheet, but couldn't find it now. Maybe I used it all up?

A new Tuesday will be upon us before we know it, and since we have plans to go out for dinner this evening, I will drop this week's challenge in now.

This week's texture will be provided by some simple dry embossing/debossing. The gate/fence in the card below gets its texture two ways in a process I picked up from one of SCT's Crop & Create classes.

Technique:
I folded the front panel of the card base back, then used my Score Pal and a stylus to deboss lines down it at regular intervals. (The class also included an option of doing this from the other side, having the embossed lines as the high points, but I prefer the look of it this way).

Then I took a grey smoke ink pad, and dragged it lightly down the "boards" to give them a kind of weathered fence kinda look. If you think about wood grain while you apply the ink, you will automatically wave the pad a bit as you move down the panel.

So that is my texture challenge for Tuesday the 15th. I hope you give this a try. If you don't want to make a rustic gate or door, you can also deboss other patterns into your cs, maybe place a smaller piece of cs over a panel and then score just around the edge of it for a frame... I hope you give this a try and I hope you have fun!

Another texture challenge for ya! Many card makers use embossing folders to amp up the impact of their cards. But for this challenge, I want you to go one step further, and find a way to emphasize that embossing.

Start with a piece of embossed cs, whether you embossed it yourself, or if you purchased it that way.

*if you are working with white or light cs, lightly brush an ink pad in a darker or contrasting colour over the embossed area to highlight the pattern.

*if the cs is coloured with a white or kraft core, use sandpaper or a file to rough up the high points so the core shows through.

*if the cs is a dark colour with no contrasting core, brush a white or silver ink pad lightly over the embossed surface to highlight the pattern.

For my sample, I used a piece of embossed white core cs I have had for years. I sanded the surface to highlight the pattern.

I hope you try one of these techniques--or all three! And that you have fun doing it. They work, too, with cs that has a textured pattern on it (like a linen weave) even if they are not actually embossed. Have fun!
