Seaexplore, I'm Italian-American and am interested in doing this, too. Was it hard to do? My late Uncle once returned to the location where my Italian family lived, at the time (in the 1970s). I've been to Italy, but not to that location. It's still on my travel bucket list to get back there and see more of the sights. Lots of collecting of information. Thankfully my sister did all the really hard info collecting before me and has shared. You need to make sure that your line isn’t broken by an ancestor naturalizing. It is NOT a fast process. Just getting documents takes years sometimes. My sister started it in 2021 and is still waiting for recognition even tho her consulate appointment was Nov 2022. Many people have been trying to get consulate appts for 3-5 years. There was a recent government decision that changed over probably 80% of peoples citizenship quests by eliminating the ability to apply if your relative naturalized when next in line was a minor- the new thing is that the line is broken. Before you could apply if that happened. Many are scrambling to see if they have another valid line. All that to say- check that you have a valid line before starting to order documents. I’m in it about $1k, my sister is in it over $5k! At some point he swopped to Croatia (next line back) and that seemed to come through quite quickly although it had still been a few years at this point. I never asked him why but maybe it was to do with a broken line if the same rules applied. He moved to Croatia in 2022 and now lives and works in Amsterdam! |

I finished!!! Whew! Learning the binding was good. It wasn't hard just tedious. But I think the red fabric binding and the red quilt stitching it really pops. This is only my third completely finished quilt and I'm pretty proud of myself.    |

Thanks so much quinlove, malibou, gillyp and chaosisapony! I'm a work in progress. I feel like each one gets a bit better. I have tomorrow afternoon off for allergy testing. I am hoping to get home at a reasonable hour so I can sandwich together my next quilt. I need Jeremy's monkey arms. LOL! I have Wednesday off work as it is Esther's birthday. I am hoping I feel up to doing some sewing. We shall see. I will definitely be making her favorite blueberry muffins. |

I finished this last month but wanted to wait until October to post. This thing gave me a run for my money. I had it sewn together but couldn’t get it square. I ended up taking all the blocks apart and re-sewing. I think it’s so cute!!  Love, love, love it. |

I don't know our family situation well enough to understand if that happened, and I unfortunately just recently lost 2 of my uncles who could have helped me figure it out. flanz I did not take a picture of it but the fabric I used to back that quilt was the same print as the green but on a black background. It is so striking. I'll get a shot of it later. Are you doing a Christmas theme then?

Before they passed, they gave me some census records that would have been useful, but I didn't even know to ask about that issue.
