Linda , your cards are lovely. I love the colors of #9, your stenciling looks great for card #16, and #23 is a very cute boy card. My card won’t fit into an envelope, because the bow is too thick, so I’ll have to attach it to a Christmas gift. The stocking shaped card opens vertically.

grammadee So lovely in simplicity. I like how the ribbon colors go with the bird and the background, and how it looks sort of like a gift. Linda I am loving your cards and the ways you meet the challenges. I especially like the silver deer against the dark background. scrapnnana that is very special! It will look great on a gift. Great bow tying! gramma I like how your ribbon/tape is all lined up and going horizonal AND diagonal. angel97701 Thank you for the ribbon challenge! My Stampin' Up lady was huge on ribbon for awhile - we used it in almost every club card. You brought back good memories. I enjoyed the weaving technique on your card. Here is a two-fer with a ribbon serving as part of the foreground.

scrapnnana Great job on your stocking ribbon card. The card will be perfect on a gift. gramma. Love that the washing machine is repeated in two areas of the card design!

jjpeapea . Do I spy two ribbons AND glitter ribbon in the same card? Excellency use of ribbon in your card composition!

CARDtober #30: Water color techniques! Many different products can be used to water color images besides the obvious. In my sample I have a BetterPress plate of Raining Pumpkins. I have a new set of Derwent Inktense color blocks. After mixing a few colors I added it to the heavy weight cotton panel to color the pumpkins.

Thanks for another fun challenge, angel97701! I am not much good at colouring images, but I can prob manage stamping with Distress or Oxide ink, then using a water brush to “paint” some shadows. Last year I did that with a bunch of bears. Maybe I will try a snowman?

angel97701 Thank you for all the fun challenges! In this two-fer I watercolored the stamped insects by using watercolor pencils and going over them with water.

I’m not sure if you’ll believe me that I watercolored the edges of the black trick-or-treaters die cut with twisted citron distress oxide! It didn’t take as well as I’d hoped. Might need to touch up with a drier brush. I also added some black Tombow marker and tried to smudge that out with a water brush. Maybe stretching the idea of watercoloring a bit far (The other card isn’t for this challenge.) Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Shakti , it may not be your favorite card among the challenges you’ve done, but it’s cute and should brighten anyone’s day. gramma , your washi birthday card, your aqua floral get well card, and your embossed happy thoughts card, your black and gold birthday card, and your butterfly card are all very nicely done. jjpeapea , I love the ribbon layers on your peace card, and the animals are sweet. joblackford , your Halloween cards are fun, even if the one for this challenge didn’t go quite as planned. angel97701 , your pumpkin card is beautiful. I have to admit that this challenge was a challenge in more ways than one. First, I had to find my watercolors. Then, I struggled with the project. Watercoloring has never been my strong point. The watercoloring went well enough (better than I expected), but when I started the black stamping after it dried, and I finally got it fairly flat, I accidentally dropped the black ink pad on it after I stamped on it (when re-stamping for a better result). I ruined it and had to start over. The third time was the charm. However, I did like the effect. My watercolors actually have a shimmer to them, which I loved, although it doesn’t show in the image. I ended up using the same watercolors for Challenge #31, too. You got me to use something that I had in my stash and learn to love it.

Watercolour you say? Well what you see here on the right is the best I can do, using a water brush with an image stamped in TH Oxide ink... Ct 28 30 31 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Here is my water-colored card: It definitely has some issues, but…. I used watercolor pencils for the leaves, activated with a wet brush. I didn't like the look of the stems when I used the watercolor pencil, so I went over it with a water-based marker and was surprised when it both activated the pencil AND deposited its own color -- probably shouldn't have been. I used my brand new Altenew metallic watercolors for the mistletoe berries. That was fun because by the time they arrived I decided against doing the project I bought them for!

Crossposted to a few threads, for #23 I used two kinds of ribbon on the tag of one of my cards, and actually added one ribbon as a border strip on one of the horizontal strips too. Nov share by jo.blackford, on Flickr

joblackford--I went in for a closer look on flickr and I can see the nice shadow effetc. Great job with adding two or more ribbons, once you get started it works! gramma--Sorry that you are unhappy with me, but it did you get you out of your comfort zone! Love your card! scrapnnana--Yes sometimes things keep unwinding--but your perserverance paid off! The card is very nice! Plus you found your watercolors and are reminded to use them! grammadee--You did a great job with the watercolor challenge, your snowman looks great! Linda--Excellent watercolor scribble behind your image. It sets it off so well! Shakti--So a watercolor challenge made you stretch your wings a little, what fun! Thank you everyone for playing along!

I've been wanting to get back to practicing watercolor for a few months so I went all out painting this one. Thanks for the push! I heat embossed the stamping which helps keep colors in their place. I never know what color to make the windows in the background because they + the barrel are actually the dominant color in this scene, so I went for something of a complement to the orangey pumpkin. I think I need to learn how to mix a really soft eucalyptus color! CARDtober by jo.blackford, on Flickr

justjac You rocked 4 challenges in two cards. Way to go! They are both very fun! joblackford So glad the challenge inspired you to play with your watercolors! I too use heat embossing to keep the colors where they belong! Beautiful scene you've created!
