Good morning.
I'm off to the mechanic to get my car serviced. Then dh and I are going out to breakfast. I can sometimes eat part of a plain pancake.
What's everyone up to today?
Dinner will be the other half of dh's omelette. He gets 2.5 meals out of breakfast.
What's on your menu?
Who's participating in tmarschall's freezer/fridge challenge?
lucyg, you've been on my mind since I read your post yesterday. Thank you for your update. I'm going to honor your strength, courage and great attitude in the face of such enormity. We're so fortunate that you're in the tribe.
Have a day filled w/whatever makes you smile and whatever brings you comfort, my tribe.

Happy Friday Eve! This week has really gone by pretty quickly. I'm doing some training at work today for a floater in our department so I'm hoping she'll be able to take some of my work load and I can do more social. It's what I like best at my job so this will be a win/win. Tonight is one of my sister's birthday so I'm taking my parents to dinner and then we are all going to meet at her place. She's bed-bound and not able to leave her group home so we're all going to go to her. I think I'll be joining in tmarschall's freezer challenge next week. It's pretty well stocked but I won't really be cooking much until next week I don't think. lucyg I also want you to know you've been on my mind after your post on yesterday's thread. You are so strong and a warrior! Hope you all have a great day!

Hi, good morning! I took a day off board yesterday so I came in this morning and read the thread over coffee. lucyg, I just really care about you. You are an integral member here and if there is anything I can do for you, just say the word, and I'm on it. scrapmaven enjoy the breakfast out. Will your car be ready today? Hopefully it is just some routine maintenance. I just took a loaf of blueberry bread out of the oven. It smells delicious. I can't wait for it to cool a bit more and I can have a slice. Dinner tonight will be a stir fry. I have tofu, kale, bok choy, zucchini, snap peas, and udon noodles. I have a completely open day today at work. I'm pretty excited about that. I'm going to just take it easy and enjoy that I don't have a million things to do.

Another hot one here. Thankfully by the time Tuesday rolls around, and our guests arrive, it should be in the mid 80s. DH is playing golf today so I sent him with two bottles of Gatorade instead of one. Today I'll continue to get ready for our guests but also work on my scrapbook layouts for the crop. Dinner might be Chicken Cacciatore from our $32 dinner for two place. I've never had Cacciatore. I love an old person with a sense of humor!

Happy Thursday! I am fixing rigatoni and garlic knots for dinner. We have my grandson band performance tonight for Homecoming that had been canceled from last weekend due to the storms. Saying prayers for so many affected by the hurricane.

Good morning! I've got a chance to post early today! Fighting a bit of a sinus headache (the weather is awful right now), but they promise better weather next week so fingers crossed. Today is more of the usual - visit DH then come home and get some work done around the house/office with time outs for quilting and/or needlepoint. scrapmaven - Enjoy your breakfast out with your hubby! lucyg - I've just read your post from yesterday and my heart is feeling very heavy now. You and your medical team will be in my prayers in hopes that they are able to help you beat this awful disease off for much longer. Absolutely no clue what dinner will be. Last night I just wasn't hungry and ended up not eating dinner, other than nibbling some pistachios.

last night, I had just served salad to dh, and hadn't started the main dinner yet when our friends called and asked if we could meet them for dinner in 30 min.. so instead of cooking, we went out last night. I had steamed clams and dh had lamb shank. the town is having a "trailing of the sheep" festival this weekend, so places are featuring lamb on the menu. dh is staying over the weekend to watch a couple thousand sheep get taken down main street and maybe the sheepdog trials..
when we got home, my brother called, and my sister in law died peacefully a few hours before. she was 66. I am sad I didn't get to see her again, but she did get to see all her girlfriends in the past few weeks. we will spend lots of time with my brother this winter, as we will both be in idaho together. he has a condo about 1 mile from us.
we are going out to dinner tonight --had a reservation we made last week and I will spend today packing the car. unlike home, I can leave stuff in the car overnight.
my dd's computer can be repaired, though I don't know what she is doing about her paper that is due.

Happy Thursday dinner friends! @scrpamaven- enjoy your breakfast out- I love having breakfast out, but rarely do it. I hope your car is back on the road quickly lucyg I echo what has been said, you are a warrior and very brave woman- You have a great attitude and an entire dinner tribe supporting you! I have a busy work day today, yesterday was completely open, but today is jam packed, I think I prefer it that way though. I pulled some ground sirloin from the freezer tmarschall 's challenge. :-) for sloppy jo's today. They aren't my favorite, but sounded good this morning, I'm trying to be a bit more creative with my cooking. Wishing everyone a great day!

Happy frozen foraging, friends! I am not taking my own advice...well, I am not buying dinner stuff. I will pick up some staples today when I get done with errands. Cream cheese. Pop. Some breakfast stuff for the weekend. But no meat! We will likely eat out tonight if we go shopping. We have decided to do our Christmas pictures way early and I asked if Nick had a Jean jacket. Surprisingly he doesn't, and he is so up and down on sizes right now it wouldn't like fit if he did. We 're going to do more casual pictures, on the beach. So we may look for a jacket for him. Otherwise I am just running errands. Picking something up at Kohls, returning a dress they sent 2 of from another store, library, etc. Not exciting but any day I don't have to commute is a good day. My condolences on your sister-in-law, ntsf. I'm so sorry. Take care of each other, all.

ntsf , I'm so very sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's passing. May her memory be for a blessing to all who knew her. (((HUGS))). My car is just fine. It's my first service. Ods and I are having our cars serviced today. We dropped him off at school today. You have no idea how badly I wanted to wear curlers and face cream and get out of the car in my Jewish Mother voice in order to give him a big kiss on the cheek and tell, "mommy's little boy to have a great day and play nicely w/the other teachers". For BBT people, think Howard's mom. Instead, I just told him to have a great day and kept my mouth shut. I was dressed and wearing makeup.

My unwillingness to financially support my son forever won out over my ability to embarrass the heck out of him.
So, a highlight from their high school days. I had just been released from the hospital w/pneumonia and a collapsed lung the night before my story. I was driving the boys to high school and we were rear ended by another student and then she sped off. I knew she was on her way to school, so I drove to the student parking lot and there she was. I was feeling vile and I was wearing lounge pants and a wrinkled tshirt. My hair looked like medusa and I was wearing bedroom slippers. The boys begged me to let them go, but I made them stay w/me, since they were witnesses. I was very maternal and guided her through the accident process. She looked at my license and said, "OMG. Are you (Scrapmaven's son's)mom? He's in my Japanese class". My son wanted the earth to open up and swallow him in. Looking back, I should be embarrassed, but instead I giggle.

ntsf I am sorry for your loss. Hugs to you and your family. lucyg you have a tribe here to support you! I am knee deep in working on training material. My to do list at work feels like it is a mile long. It is a gorgeous day here. I plan on an extra long walk after work. We have no plans tonight which is nice since we have attended 3 soccer games in the last 3 days. Yesterday was one DG's 8th birthday. He was so excited because he scored a goal in the game and his team won so they move on in the tourney. Dinner will be rechauffe chicken noodle soup.

Hello peas! Our cruise has ended and I’m sitting in the Boston airport waiting for my flight home. We have a connecting flight in Chicago, then fly to Flint Michigan and from there drive 1.5 hrs home. I’ll probably get home about 12:30 am if all goes to plan.
I had an amazing time on the cruise. I will chat about it on my post tomorrow. Haven’t read the thread but will need to catch up on everyone.
Supper will be something I grab at the Chicago airport in between flights

I am so sorry for your loss, ntsf. I'm sure your DB will appreciate having you close by this winter as he figures out his new normal. Are his kids in the PNW, too? Great to hear the cruise was amazing, taylortroop. Ugh, on such a long travel day. I'm puttering around the house today. Cleaned & tidied our bedroom and working on the never ending reorganizing of the office. My beloved yoga studio is closing at the end of the month and I'm feeling unanchored. I'm not surprised to by this decision as their lease is up for renewal and the owner is dealing with a health crisis, but we were hoping they would find someone to partner with them. I'm moving into fall/winter meals so meatloaf, mashed potatoes and roast vegetables (Brussel sprouts and green beans) are on the menu here. Nothing from the freezer today.

I didn't cook last night due to choir. Tonight I am not cooking due to making a shopping run to the Rock. Costco, TJs, and Aldi. I just don't want to use up my entire Friday afternoon on that. It may be a drive thru night for me. lucyg I can only echo what everyone else has said. You are such a fighter and each day you are on this earth breathing is a win!

Hey all - so sorry for your loss ntsf ! I was so sorry to read your post yesterday lucyg - I hope your medication continues to work and your side effects continue to be manageable. (((hugs))) I'm not sure what's for dinner tonight. Perhaps I'll look in the freezer, but I usually don't have much in there! I have to go pick out a tree to replace the one we loss to Japanese beetles - hopefully it'll be a happier one!

my brother's kids..one is married and lives a couple hours away sans traffic. his other kid lives in socal.. is single and makes tons of money so he can fly up quite often. my kids are close to their cousins too.. so there is support around.
my parents were only children.. so few relatives at all. my sister in law was the last survivor of her immediate family (which is why I was doing the family picture albums). she does have cousins around..
she was very religious so I know she had made her peace.

Hey all checking in after not for a while. I'm fickle.😜 I just stopped at Aldi's and got a pack of thin cut ribeye steak. I think I'll have my once in a blue moon steak tonight. Probably with some asparagus and possibly potatoe some way. lucyg keep on fighting the good fight, my beat to you. Weird how one can have stronger feelings for someone I've never really met vs some I have. When I was in kindergarten they prepared us to not have a mom by week's end. She was stubborn and didn't pass away until (if there were such a thing) I'd have been in grade 49. (2016). Here's hoping you're stubborn and can beat some of those damn odds too. 🤟🏻

Plans changed! I was beat so I skipped my last errand we decided to stay home tonight. I made chicken tortilla soup with chicken and corn from the freezer (✅️). The stuff I ordered (tops for us and puppy dresses) for our pictures came so I think we will go to the beach tomorrow afternoon. It's supposed to be cloudy which is better lighting. I'm looking forward to it!

ntsf I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Hugs to you as you process this loss. scrapmaven when ds was little he didn't want to get out of the car and go to class. So I would take my lipstick and apply it saying let me give you a kiss and out he ran before I could mark him with the kiss. LOL. lucyg I have you in my prayers oh so special pea. Big hugs. DH took today off from work and we and the furball went to the beach for the day to escape the heat. We had a mid afternoon meal at a fish restaurant.
