On Saturdays I am going to use a card sketch for inspiration. This first one comes from the Winter 2021 Scrapbook and Cards Today. I like this sketch because you can switch it up for any occasion by choosing a different pattern paper and die cut: balloons for a birthday, a bunny for Easter, etc. Cardtober 5 Sketch by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr I used my Sizzix die and embossing folder. The die is one of those thick ones (I have forgotten what they are called.) I didn't add a sentiment because I thought the Merry Christmas paper was enough. I used one of my 6.5x5 card bases I have from Michaels. One of my goals for the year is to use up a chunk of my pre-made card bases. Cardtober 5 by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr Cardtober 12!Here is another sketch from Scrapbook and Cards Today. I had a cover plate die I used instead of just paper with stitching. I also switched it to horizontal instead of vertical. Cardtober 12 Sketch by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr Cardtober 12 by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr I used a circle punch like they did in the sketch, but feel free to layer any punch or die cut you have. Or do something totally different. Cardtober #19 Sketch by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr Cardtober #19 by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr Here's my final card sketch of the month. This is another versatile one. You can pick any die cut shape to frame your card and any card size or shape. Cardtober 26 sketch by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr In my sample I used a square card base and a snowflake swirl border die. Cardtober 26 by Jacqueline Bruce, on Flickr

Here is my card for this challenge, justjac. I didn't want to cut the Paper Rose panel down any more b/c I wanted to keep the floral image whole. CT #5 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

I can see why you didn’t want to cut it grammadee. It’s beautiful.

So I needed a baby card for my niece and don't have a ton of choices of stamps or paper. In fact ONE sheet of baby paper, and 3 sets of stamps.
Patterned paper: Paper Pizzas maybe 1985? Paper unknown. Altenew "Welcome little one" 2017. Echo Park Enamel dots Baby Boy. Brilliance Sky Blue ink, Memento Tuxedo Black. Lawn Fawn "Congratulations". Somehow I misplaced my curvy banners die!

grammadee I agree with justjac the paper is so pretty and the card, just wow. The fun part with the onesie is we are sending a newborn size one the says "Future Hunting Buddy" as they live in Alaska and do hunt/fish for most of their protein.

Thanks for the sketch! I had the perfect elements already waiting for me in my stash - Paige Evans fall papers with printed quilt square designs. I added some stitching and a bow and an embossed background panel, finally using something I bought a while ago. The subtle burlap texture reminded me of old fabric. I might make some simpler versions of these with the rest of the sheet of patterned paper. SketchSat by jo.blackford, on Flickr

grammadee very pretty! Did you have fun with inks or did your paper come that way? angel97701 so precious. I love the little onsie. scrapnnana what an excellent use of the sketch! Love the polished look of the stitching. joblackford wow, love the quilt effect and then the stiching on it. justjac thank you for the versatile sketch. It lends itself to so many cards. I went with a Christmas theme as well.

Shakti love how you used the texture for added interest and I also like your positive, encouraging message. Mad at myself for not using my snowflake embossing folder.

Very pretty, jjpeapea. I love both the plaid and the stag. Is the stag a punch or a die cut?

Shakti love how you used the texture for added interest and I also like your positive, encouraging message. Mad at myself for not using my snowflake embossing folder. Thanks! This is exactly why I moved all my background stamps, cover plate dies, and background embossing folders into one category/one bin. I want to be able to think, "oh, that's kind of a lot of white space" and look only once for the best fit to fill it, if that makes sense. This will probably go to Cards for Cubs in the spring.

Very pretty, jjpeapea . I love both the plaid and the stag. Is the stag a punch or a die cut? My tiny reindeer is die cut from Simon's Snow Globes. I'm hoping to use the sets for Christmas this year - the little deer was happy to come out to play early.

That’s a fun sketch and I love your fall sample justjac I recently bought some infinity stars (and a couple of other shapes on sale) after years of not having any so I should be able to come up with something for this over this weekend.

So I don't have a die that makes that radial sort of pattern, so I used the closest thing in my stash: (And now that I've posted this card I'm going to go move that top triangle a bit while I still can...).

That is a really cute card, Shakti. Is it a shaker? Open designs are so tempting to do shakers, but I was in a hurry so didn't do that with mine.

I do not own a cover die that matches this sketch BUT I really liked the design sooooooooo I printed out the sketch at 4.25 x 5.5 and used it as a pattern I picked my papers (inspired by justjac ) and then stacked them together and carefully trimmed them into the sketch. Since I used two colors and two sections of leaf paper so I created 4 cards. The leaf paper is by Scrap Happy and was produced in 1999, wahoo! Sentiment is My Favorite things "Birthday Greetings" and Wonky Stitched Ovals is also My Favorite Things. Sentiment is embossed in Creations Unlimited Fall Forrest EP.
I have four friends with November birthdays
