Thank you for the explanation. I thought the names should be known, but didn't get a good answer when I tried to search for information. This leads to another question. I know they have 20+ rapists unidentified. Are their photos being published? I'm thinking of how many Jan6 insurrectionists were identified and arrested in the US because of efforts to get the photos and videos out to the public. Has something similar happened with cropped photos of the unidentified men in this case?

I'm thinking of how many Jan6 insurrectionists were identified and arrested in the US because of efforts to get the photos and videos out to the public. Has something similar happened with cropped photos of the unidentified men in this case? As of right now, we don't know. The image likeliness (high-end facial recognition software was also used) of each rapist is but one of the multiple identifying elements used to establish their participation. The phone numbers of the calls between Pélicot and the other men was of great importance, too. We don't have access to burner phones the way US citizens do, for example, so these men were nonchalantly using their own personal phone numbers to make the arrangements. The police have said they have kept quiet as long as possible before starting the first wave of arrests because they had to try to figure out ahead of these arrests whether each man was not committing such acts elsewhere/having this kind of serial abuse happen to their own spouse. They are continuing the work of trying to identify other men. So far, we, the public, haven't been asked to help identify anyone else.

It makes me sick to say I can't imagine that there aren't other spouses that were also sexually abused by/amongst this group of degenerates.

The article I linked on p.1 of this thread says that one other (I’m sure there are more) guy did this with his wife because he was inspired by (my words) pervert #1.

The article I linked on p.1 of this thread says that one other (I’m sure there are more) guy did this with his wife because he was inspired by (my words) pervert #1. It wanted me to sign up to read - I'll try on another device. Weird. I didn’t have to sign up. Try google search just her name and choose the link to the site? That’s how I found it. eta: here’s the other guy- “After Dominique testified, the court began hearing from the men he allegedly enlisted, who were called to the stand in small groups. The first to speak was Jean-Pierre Marechal, who isn’t accused of raping Gisèle but has been jailed for carrying out Dominique’s blueprint on his own wife, Cilia. According to France24, Marechal told the court that he first met Dominique on coco.gg, where Dominique detailed his scheme and, eventually, asked to rape Marechal’s wife. The 63-year-old didn’t immediately accept, but reportedly suggested that Dominique coaxed him into it. “If I had not met Mr. Pelicot, I would have never committed this act. He was reassuring, like a cousin,” he testified, according to the Global News. Dominique allegedly supplied the tranquilizers and is accused of raping Cilia ten times while Marechal watched. (He is himself accused of raping, or trying to rape, Cilia on 12 occasions.) On what turned out to be their final meeting, Cilia reportedly woke up while Dominique was in the room, prompting the two men to sever communications. Like Dominique, Marechal told the court he’d been sexually abused as a child. “We experienced terrible things from my father,” he said, according to CBS News. “My mother tried to protect us, but she drank.” Like Dominique, Marechal also insisted he’d had a “happy life” with Cilia, who has not divorced him. “I regret my actions. I love my wife,” he told the court, adding that he hoped for a “tough punishment.” “I’m in jail, and I deserve it,” he said. “What I did is appalling. I’m a criminal and a rapist.”

The translation is roughly, “Now the shame changes sides.” Hopefully, her courage has turned the tables on who should be ashamed and victims will be more willing to come forward.

This is so cruel and revolting.
Even worse: she is in her early 70s and this abuse was taking place 10 years ago. Assuming her husband is of similar age, he will only be in jail a few years before he dies. He needs a life sentence that started in his prime. Also, she must spend her final years bringing him to justice.

Context for those who don't know: "So that shame moves to the other side" is what one of her lawyers said when explaining to the press why they were asking the judge to lift the closed hearing order for the videos and images of her rapes. This is truly societal trial where Pélicot has decided to take a stand for all women.

The article you linked seaexplore was really good, giving the background and horrifying details about too many of these POS trying to defend what they did. (finally able to read it on a different device) It was the first time I saw names (other than her ex) listed. Knowing that the defendants are identified and outed to their communities/families does give me satisfaction.
