Good morning.
Today will be a simple day at home. I'll do some chores, play my game and practice knitting. It's cooler outside, so I'll go spend some time outside.
What is everyone up to today?
Dinner will be rechauffe chicken marsala and a salad for dh.
What's on your menu?
The Birdhouse Lady, I'm happy to hear that you're healing well. I forgot to answer your question about the stray. She's dividing her time btwn my yard and a yard across the street. So, I'm not sure where she would give birth if she's indeed, pg. She likely is, but who knows? We're feeding her, just in case. Dh said that yesterday she was actually looking for her kibble. So, I went outside and fed her. Though, she still won't let me get near her.
**GypsyGirl**, how is your dh doing in the Rehab facility? How are you doing?
How is everyone doing today? We've had a trying week in the tribe and I really wish for a healing weekend for those in need. May this weekend bring fun, relaxation and rest to all. May it be a restorative weekend.

Happy Friday!
I just finished my social writing for the chocolate shop and now I'm hungry! I've got to run errands at lunch so I think I'll pick up a burger or something while I'm out. Maybe Steak N Shake.
I've got a super busy weekend coming up. Got relatives coming in from out of town for 10 days starting tomorrow. I'm also getting my hair done tomorrow so I'm happy about that. Sunday is our progressive brunch crawl so I've got to get a few things ready for that since I'm the first stop.
Dinner tonight will be chicken something that I didn't make earlier in the week. I came across a recipe for chicken in a tarragon cream sauce so I may make that with parmesan cous cous.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I'm heading to AquaFit in a bit. I've missed it this week because of having our guests here. It's cooler here too and I love it! We have to look for the Northern Lights tonight because everyone is posting pictures and we missed it! Dinner will be grilled steaks. TGIF!!! I think this should be our motto:

Greetings from the beautiful Süd Tirol, where today has been absolutely gorgeous - sunny m, but not too hot. Once DH had finished with an interview he had to do, we set off to do one of the many walking trails around here. We walked along the river for a bit, then the trail took us up the side of one of the mountains, to a path that looked down over the town and surroundings, including many vineyards. We caught the bus back to town, which let us out at the railway station, where the weekly market was taking place. After a wander and a few purchases, we walked back into town and ate a fairly late lunch before returning to our hotel. Views from the walking track Walking around the market And our last night’s dinner: salad from the buffet, lamb with beans and sour cream, spinach dumplings with mountain cheese, celeriac soup with local crisp bread and speck(a type of cured ham), venison with potato gratin and red cabbage, apple fritters with walnut ice cream and vanilla sauce Dinner tonight is a seafood buffet, cream soup, ham and potatoes ( not sure what form) and sacher torte. This area is very interesting. It is in Italy, but is far more Austrian/southern German. More people in the markets were speaking German than Italian, and it’s the same at our hotel. All the street signs are in both languages - you will see ‘Via Roma’ followed by ‘Romstrasse’ for example.

I have a busy day ahead of me ... Molly is coming over soon and we are going for brunch ... at Denny's I assume! My mum will be here about 2pm and then my aunt and cousin will show up at about 3pm to have snacks and play Scrabble ... we do this every few months ... four biddies playing Scrabble! We have a dinner reservation at 7pm ... I might have the calamari ... yum! Then I'm meeting up with the guy to hang out for a couple of hours! Those photos are awesome sueg!

sueg, next time you go on vacation can we go to? Your photos are amazing. You're in such a beautiful place and the food looks delicious. Have fun. leannec, I laughed when you said biddies. Dh and I both laugh a bit that when we talk about old people we're talking about ourselves, too. You're younger than I am. You're not a biddie.

Tearisci , could you please share the recipe w/us? Enjoy your time w/family. Since it's a lot for you, make sure to honor your needs and when you need time to yourself then take it. Sure! 4 boneless chicken breasts 2 TBS olive oil salt and pepper to taste 1/4 chicken broth (I'll probably use white wine) 1/2 cup heavy cream (I'm using half and half) 2 TBS dijon mustard 2 tsp dried tarragon or oregano Add olive oil to a large pan and salt and pepper the chicken Add chicken until cooked through - remove to a plate Add chicken broth into hot skillet whisk in cream and mustard and tarragon or oregano and cook for 2 minutes Pour over chicken and serve. I think I might double the amount of sauce because I like my chicken really creamy, but it looks like a good recipes.

**GypsyGirl**, how is your dh doing in the Rehab facility? How are you doing? Happy Friday! DH is doing well in rehab. Every day he sees an improvement in strength. Hoping to see him on his feet next week. He still has a great attitude and is always willing to do whatever they ask him to try. The drive out is 20 miles vs 7 miles in town, but I use the tollway to cut the drive time so it ends up being about the same amount of time on the road. For now I am going out every other day, trying to catch up on things around the house and my own appointments. Still trying to catch up on my sleep and rest, but that's going to take time. My body has been trying to tell me for the past two weeks that I need to quit being superwoman so I am trying to do that more. Today I have to pick up a new dress I had hemmed (I am seriously 4" too short!) and then will be getting a massage. It's a new to me place so I hope it works out well. Then I am meeting two dear friends for an "old lady dinner" at a favorite Italian restaurant. We meet at 4 pm so that we can all be home before dark since none of us like to drive in the dark. Also, at 67 I am the youngest by at least 10 years! Hoping that DD has time to drop by this evening (she's been in Berlin since Sat. on business), but her plane doesn't land until 6 pm so it might be tomorrow before I see her. Other plans for the weekend include starting a new needlepoint ornament and sewing some quilt blocks. As for dinner, last night I made a double batch of my spaghetti sauce in order to put some in the freezer. Had intended to have that for dinner, but woke up to the invitation for dinner out with friends. So dinner is still Italian, just someone else cooking it! Hope everyone has a good weekend (especially if it's a 3 day weekend for you!) and may your football team win. Well, everyone's team except cadoodlebug 's!

karenlou said: "cadoodlebug, had to imagine you going to aqua fit....it was a "nippy" 46 degrees here this morning!!!" It is held 12 months out of the year and will be very cold this winter. I hope to last throughout. We'll see! **GypsyGirl**, Go To Hell Ole Miss, Go To Hell. To the rest of you, this is a common cheer from LSU AND Ole Miss fans during the week of our rivalry game. Of course, they say Go to Hell LSU, Go to Hell.

I have beef simmering on the stove and am making stew for dinner. I bought a loaf of crusty bread to go with it. I read the thread every day but often don’t contribute.I don’t have the energy or mental bandwidth to participate on the thread and feel badly if I post and run. You all are wonderful, welcoming and supportive. I know I’m not alone in my gratitude for this group. Today is the fifth anniversary of my beloved Dick’s passing. My life has changed so much and I’m not the same person I was with him by my side. I have a bag full of cards from you all that I look at from time to time. I have a beautiful shawl made by jeremysgirl that feels like a warm hug when I wrap it around myself. 🩷

karenlou Happy anniversary!! I just asked DH where he wants to go to celebrate ours next week and got a very non-committal answer. I suggested sushi since he's trying to eat healthier (again). KelleeM (hugs) to you! Took today off and had a follow-up at the dermatologist, got groceries, ran home to drop them off, wellness visit (she believes I have Eustachian tube dysfunction and that's what's been causing my issues this year -- I have my 2nd opinion visit at a different ENT in two weeks; and I'll go back to do labs in a few weeks at the primary care office since I wasn't fasting), and then the always fun DMV. The girl wanted me to take off my glasses since there was a glare, but she redid the picture with them on and it took. I wear my glasses 25/8, so there's no way I wasn't wearing them. She couldn't transfer the pic like they usually do for licenses since I was getting a real ID (Virginia is great since we have 8 year renewals and can do them online, but real IDs require in-person visits). Dinner tonight will be salads with salmon on top, and I think we're going apple picking tomorrow morning!

KelleeM , let me offer more ((((HUGS)))) today. Dick loved you so much and I know that he was your world. May you find comfort and peace this weekend. You're in my thoughts. **GypsyGirl** and cadoodlebug , both of you go to your rooms right now. Come out when you can root for my team! **GypsyGirl** , I'm glad that you're taking a bit more time for yourself, but you still sound too busy. I think you've really earned some relaxation and it's imperative that you not get sick right now. karenlou , Happy Anniversary to you and Mr. Karenlou. Enjoy your yummy dinner. Tearisci , thank you for sharing that delicious sounding recipe. It's very similar to the chicken Marsala that I made last night, minus the mustard and tarragon. I'm putting your recipe into the rotation.

I went on a bit of a road trip this morning to pick up some Tupperware bowls that I e had difficulty finding. I was also able to meet up with a former coworker for lunch. Lucky that she lives in the area and was working from home today.
Grandboy #1 is spending some time with DH today since it’s a PD day. This has been their thing since he started school eight years ago.
DH is going to a hockey game with my brother tonight so while I was out for lunch I ordered a pizza to bring home for supper. I will enjoy the quiet night with Walker and my book.

scrapmaven Not yet, but hopefully the appointment in a few weeks will provide some information. It's just so annoying that it's taken how many different visits to try to figure out what's going on. If it could be solved by getting tubes like little ones do, I'd be happy to do it. I don't think some people realize how aggravating ear pain can be if they've not experienced it (especially when it keeps coming back) or it's been a while since they've had an ear infection. I'm fortunate that my PCP and I share a sense of humor and she's willing to help me get the answers I need.

KelleeM... What you said about not being the same person really struck my heart. I'm so, so sorry! I'm glad that you acknowledge your grief and loss, instead of trying to cover it up. I have family members and friends who feel they have to act like they're "fine", and keep themselves overly busy to avoid their grief, etc. and it's so sad.

I am serving left overs. There is a hodge podge of food from last night so everyone can fix the left overs how they want. I am going to have a salad and dd wants to make a hash with eggs. Will see what she does.
Going to see a Halloween light show this evening.
This weekend dd has a Paleontology exhibit to attend, I am taking ds to the fire station open house and we will visit the local farm and their pumpkin patch.
Only supposed to be 85°. Guess my area of CA is in for a long hot/warm fall and winter. Ugh!!

My dad went out for lunch again today so dinner is up in the air. Last night I ate very well. I had chicken and tons of vegetables.
Tonight I might have steak. It’s pretty easy to cook. We do need some vegetables because I have been eating my way through the fridge.
We are going to go vote in a while. Neither of us really know where the church is to vote at.
BFF worked at a polling place once and I think she nearly died. It was so awful and I don’t know why she didn’t call me to bring her a blanket or something to eat. She just hadn’t been prepared and they didn’t say to bring a ton of food. Based on her experience I will never work at an election ever.

sueg that scenery is spectacular, the market look so fun, and the food of course looks delicious! Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. KelleeM I am thinking about you. I always love reading about your memories of Dick, and seeing those sweet notes he would leave for you. I hope those memories can make you smile today, even for a few moments. DSO went to the pub "for a few beers" with a mate in the afternoon. He thought he'd be back by dinnertime, and I was going to suggest fish & chips. They kept running into people they knew, and at 7:30 I decided to grab something from the freezer for dinner. That something was cheese and spinach pastizzi. DSO ended up getting home at about 8pm, and by 8:30pm he was sound asleep and snoring loudly. It's now nearly 9am Saturday, and he is still asleep. He never ever ever sleeps this long. Even if he's had a big night, he's still up at about 6am, and never gets a hangover. He did have a very long day doing physical work yesterday, so his body needs a good rest.
