Mom and I always played rummy after I outgrew go fish😂😂. I did learn to play solitaire when she was busy. What game do you like to play with a deck of cards? Bonus points for directions or a link.

Various deck building games nobody on this board is likely to be familiar with. There's a whole genre of modern offerings if one chooses to go down that rabbit hole. As for "traditional" card games, Lost Cities probably comes the closest but you can't play it with a traditional fifty two card deck since it takes five suits. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/50/lost-cities

Back in the dark ages my family played a card game called Spite and Malice. It was popular with several people playing. I can't even remember how to play it now.
When we have a group here we enjoy double solitaire because more than 4 people can play.

Bridge. I learned to play during my senior year of college, and play once Week with a great group at my Church. This game never gets old for me.

Some of my fondest memories of my late mom are playing Gin Rummy and Cribbage with her.

Euchre !! I loved it so much. I’m from Michigan and we played it a lot. My first husband was really good at it, as I was not. We were usually partners. I would get so much joy out of throwing down both Jacks. He would just roll his eyes. I’ve never played since moving to Texas.

I thought it was called Russian Rummy, but it looking for a link to the rules the version we play is a bit different. So, I’m not sure what the game is called.
You play 12 hands. First hand you are dealt 6 cards and you add a card each hand. First hand you have to make two pairs, second hand a run of 7, third hand a set of three and a run of 5. Each hand is different.
It’s a lot like Phase 10, but played with a regular decks of cards. Our other favorite is Phase 10 Masters. But they don’t sell that version anymore.

Rummy for me.
I used to play it every Saturday evening with my mother & grandmother after the dishes were washed & dried.
Then I also taught it to one of my cousins on the opposite side of the family so I could play it with someone when we got together with them as well.

We taught our kids to play when they were tweens and we played it off and on a bit when they were home for visits. Not since there have been grandkids in the mix though.

Pinochle, played only with my sister and brother-in-law. Unlike regular pinochle, we play a double-deck, pass, game and we have tournaments twice a year. We all love it and have so much fun and laughs together. Our games have gone on for the last 45 years or so.

With a regular deck we like Spoons. Other card games are Uno and Phase 10.

Rummy (Michigan Rummy/Rummy 500), a variety of solitaire games, Nerts, Spoons, Euchre, 99, 31. I love card games but they seem to be falling out of favor.

Spite and Malice is basically the same as Skip-Bp. I play both all the time!

We play cards a lot with family and friends. All kinds of games. Golf is a current favorite for that along with Five Crowns and Kings in the Corner.
My personal favorites are Bridge, Canasta, and I absolutely love Hand & Foot.

My favorites are hearts and rich man, poor man.
* I did a quick search and didn’t see the exact rules we play with for rich man, poor man so I won’t link it. My brother introduced it to our family years ago - he was taught by his Japanese friends in college. It seems to be a game that did originate in Japan.

With one deck? I don't think we play any. My family has always (at least since I was a child) played a game called Pennies from Heaven. It's supposedly a combination bastardized mix of Michigan Rummy, Canasta, and another game I can't recall. It's pretty much all my family ever played. But it takes multiple decks.

It’s my favourite game too but it can be hard to find others who know it and it’s hard to teach and learn to play it well. I learned it in high school from kids who were from Ontario so it was definitely regional. My dad (from Ontario) was a great player. When I moved to Alberta nobody had heard of it. My siblings and I have taught our spouses but they’re not as good at it as us. 😜😄 A lot more people in the west play it now.

We play Uno when we're camping, and Yahtzee, but nothing with a regular deck of cards.

DH and I play 2 games of 5Crowns every night after dinner. We were introduced to it by a friend. We haven't even looked at Rummikub since. It is a fabulous game and is easy to take on vacation. We played it during layovers in May.
I also play Hand and Foot but DH doesn't know how.

My very favourite card game is Hand & Foot, but you need bout five decks for that. I don't play a lot of other card games. The only one I can think of that we sometimes play is Shithead.
