We like Rummy and crazy 8s.
We used to play a game called Kings in the Corner and I remember enjoying it but can't for the life of me remember how to play.
Maybe I'll youtube it!

I used to play cards every day with my dad when I was a teenager. I would come home from school and the table would be set up waiting for me. We played the same games in the same order, and it always started with cribbage, which is still my favourite. We also used to play a game called Newmarket with the whole family. It involved betting pennies, and was very tense and exciting! I remember taking a day off work just a few weeks before my brother died, so that he and I could play cards. He was pretty weak by then and kept dozing off, but we had a lovely day.
Playing card games are some of my favourite memories from my childhood. š

I grew up playing rummy 500 and spades, though I don't remember the rules for spades at all. Also Uno and Skip-Bo, which my kids enjoy too. Various deck building games nobody on this board is likely to be familiar with. There's a whole genre of modern offerings if one chooses to go down that rabbit hole. As for "traditional" card games, Lost Cities probably comes the closest but you can't play it with a traditional fifty two card deck since it takes five suits.
Oh gosh, my teens like these games. I couldn't even tell you which ones because my brain cannot engage lol.

Our friends introduced us to Karma (sold on Amazon). It's fun with a big group and even my 6 year old cousin played. It's nice to play a game that they can play too. We use two decks for a bigger group.

Back in the dark ages my family played a card game called Spite and Malice. It was popular with several people playing. I can't even remember how to play it now. When we have a group here we enjoy double solitaire because more than 4 people can play. I grew up playing Spite and Malice, too! Especially when we went camping, it was a fun game for all ages. (I don't remember the rules either!) We also played Continental Rummy. One summer one of my friend's mom taught us how to play and I think we played almost every day! In high school we played Sheephead during lunch. Also my husband's family tradition was to play Michigan Rummy on New Year's Eve.

We play a version of rummy that my Grandparents used to play in Milwaukee. It's 5 hands and called Crummy Rummy. I taught my in-laws and my MIL and DH's aunts LOVE the game. They play it more than I do with my own family.

My family used to get together most every weekend and play Up and Down the River. I think we all finally got bored of it and we don't really play anymore or they play later than my bedtime.

We called it Canasta but we had a hand and foot. We played this growing up at my grandparents whenever we had family gatherings.
DH and I played soooo many games of Hearts with his parents. We'd also play Bid Whist, to which I'd say many times per game "I hate this stupid game" the bidding always seemed so hard.
I'd love to learn some more games like gin, euchre.

Samba is a multi-deck game I play with a group of ladies from church. I'm told it is similar to Hand and Foot. Directions on how to play are on YouTube.

Before I posted I googled the name because I thought it might have been a made up name by my grandma. My cousin and I would play this game for hours with our grandma! This brings back such awesome memories!

I am posting before reading, so I will enjoy going back and reading. I love card games. My favorites depend on the situations and number of people.
2 - 4 = cribbage, rummy, gin rummy,
4 = 45, Euchre, spades
4 or more = hearts, 31, golf, I doubt it (or the other preferred names for it š), oh hell, pitch, spoons
This is just off the top of my head, I am sure more will keep coming to me and I will have to add to my lists. Hope you find some good additions and have fun! Now off to see what others answered.

When I was growing up we played Euchre a lot. There are only four people in my family so I always had to play. I'm not really a game person so I always wished I could teach the dog to play so I didn't have to.
I don't mind an occasional (occasional!) game now.
I do like Uno, Apples to Apples, and Cards Against Humanity (after I take out the cards that are too gross, even for that game).

We played that game hundreds of times with my in-laws when we were at the cabin. Since they have both died we haven't played it.

Rummy, Gin, Solitaire, Hearts, and Egyptian Rat Screw (although I'm pretty sure that last one goes by a variety of names).
Non-traditional deck of cards game would probably be Racko, but it's been YEARS since I played.
One of my favorite pictures I have is of me and my late great-grandmother playing cards. She was blind in one eye but kicked my butt every.single.time. She stayed with us once when I was growing up for about ten days so my grandparents could go on vacation. I fell asleep to the sound of her card shuffler many a night during that stretch.

I have been playing it for at least 50 years (and I mean that literally š) as I started playing it with my Grandmother when I was a kid. I just cleaned out our over flowing games shelves at our camp and the first thing my mom asked was did I get rid of Racko, where was Racko?. š FYI - all I really could get rid of was Go for Broke, Bucking Bronco, Candy Land, and a few others. I did reduced the obscene number of decks of cards we had. But I did get rid of all the done puzzels as we will not do the same one again and that made it look like I got rid of a ton of things. Win. Win. š

Pinochle, played only with my sister and brother-in-law. Unlike regular pinochle, we play a double-deck, pass, game and we have tournaments twice a year. We all love it and have so much fun and laughs together. Our games have gone on for the last 45 years or so. I love Pinochle. It is absolutely my favorite game. We play the double deck, meld, bid, pass game as well. I grew up listening to my parents playing it with their friends. I cut my teeth on Spades in the Army, and can hold my own at any cook out. But we taught my ex to play Pinochle, and itās one of my fondest memories with my parents. I canāt get anyone patient enough to learn now. And my parents donāt play anymore. Dad just canāt hold that many cards physically in his hands. I used to volunteer at the senior center in my old town, cooking and baking (many of the residents loved to cook but could no longer mix, roll, lift, or safely use the oven) and there was a group of older men that played, and I would play with them. But there were a lot of Covid losses and that group no longer plays. Iām so happy to see someone mention Pinochle! I also play Euchre and Canastaā¦ well.. I can. No one else I know doesā¦ I miss the days before cell phones and streaming and just literally spending time together. (Iām firmly Gen X..)

Pinochle is my favorite game. Classic, single deck, 4 handed.
Gin is something my mom taught me to play, and I love it as a great diversion for two people that doesnāt require a lot of space.
Gin rummy is great for bigger groups and is so much fun, and so easy to teach new people or include children.
5 Crowns my friend taught me this, itās a great game. Brought it with me when we visited friends in Sydney, they liked it so much, i left the deck with them and bought a new one when I got home.

My siblings are all retired and spend the month of Feb in Florida every year and their regular game of choice is Sevens. Some years I try to go visit them for a week and I very much enjoy the game as well. I've tried to play at home with my DH and kids but my kids are not too crazy about playing. www.wikihow.com/Play-Sevens-(Card-Game)

We play cards a lot with family and friends. All kinds of games. Golf is a current favorite for that along with Five Crowns and Kings in the Corner. My personal favorites are Bridge, Canasta, and I absolutely love Hand & Foot. We have game night at least once a week where the grown kids come over and we play cards. Hand & foot is one of our favorites! We also play Shanghai ALOT. We usually have 6 to 8 players. Shanghai Card Game

I used to play this and enjoyed it so much.. but it's been years I totally forgot about it. Our group plays Spicy Uno.. it's so much fun and kinda makes regular Uno boring now. We have changed some of the 'rules' to fit our group as it is usually a pretty big crowd. crazylittleprojects.com/how-to-play-spicy-uno/

DH and I play 2 games of 5Crowns every night after dinner. We were introduced to it by a friend. We haven't even looked at Rummikub since. It is a fabulous game and is easy to take on vacation. We played it during layovers in May. I also play Hand and Foot but DH doesn't know how. I just ordered this, dh & I play rummikub so I was convinced when you commented about that.

We play a game called crazy rummy. My MIL taught all of us to play this game. When the grandchildren were old enough, she taught them, too. She died in 1996 and we still play it when our daughter comes over. My MIL had a quirk play and now when one of us makes that distinctive move, we say āthatās a Kas moveā. Fond memories for sure.

I have downloaded - Euchre - from the App Store on my iPhone. It is surprisingly realistic. Itās basically me and my partner, playing against another couple. Even though the other 3 are computer generated, it almost seems real.
It highlights what card you should play. Itās helpful but still lets you make your own choices. Iām really enjoying it. You Can choose your partners name. As also the others. Iām playing the one from - Fiogonia. In case anyone is interested, Not sure about the other apps.
