I have depression and anxiety. I have tried an SSRI (Lexapro) and an SNRI (Cymbalta). Neither one has helped. Dr. wants me to try Wellbutrin. Just wondering your experience. Thinking of adding Buspar for anxiety as well. (trying to stay away from benzos).

I take it in addition to Zoloft (sertraline). It works very well for me. We had to play a bit to find the right dose.

I take it and had anger issues in the beginning but that stopped after a couple of weeks. It helped depression, but I still needed a small dose of Lexapro for anxiety. It’s working great now.

I went on it when DH went into hospice back in 2018. I actually stopped cold turkey last October b/c I got covid and was prescribed Paxlovid. I had to stop meds with Paxlovid. I never started taking it again. Should I have, yeah, probably, God, I had crushing sadness during the holidays. But I'm working with a therapist now and we'll see if she thinks I should go back on it.

I have been on it for 2 years and I love it for my anxiety and depression. No side effects. I absolutely hated Lexapro.

I think it helps a lot of people. However I had a friend that took it and a few weeks after she started she committed suicide. With all these medications please be careful and talk to your dr if you start having suicidal thoughts.

I’ve been taking it since my cancer diagnosis in 2013. In 2020, shortly after my husband’s passing, my doctor added citalopram (generic for Celexa). It’s a good mix for me and allows me to get out of bed and function like a somewhat normal person.

My experience has been I needed an antidepressant and Wellbutrin to work on anxiety and depression. My experience has been needing more meds than less. I have been very stable for a long time.

I tried the Wellbutrin BuSpar combo years ago. Did nothing for me. I am currently on an SNRI, Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and I feel like a "normal" human being for the first time in my life. Really helped with anxiety--I no longer have a phobia about highway driving.

DS1 was on it and was suicidal --- things were much worse with him on it than him being unmedicated. His Dr said that it can have that effect on young adults and switched his meds.

I started taking it at the beginning of summer. After about a month and a half I started having huge anxiety attacks and depressive spells. I stopped taking it after a therapist I started seeing said it can cause anxiety in some people. After another month I decided to give it another try and since then I haven’t had any side effects that I can tell. But I also can’t say it really is working on any of my symptoms either.

i tried it, it wasn't the one for me. it made me apathetic.. i wasn't sad or anxious anymore, but i was just... nothing. zoloft was better, true winner for both anxiety and depression. i was on it for a long while but it killed my sex drive, so when i felt stable i switched. prozac ended up being the winner for me, but i do have a seperate med for breakthru anxiety.

I've taken it, along with the others you've mentioned and a couple of others. Nothing really helped me much. The Buspar, however, really was somewhat life changing for me. I started taking it originally along with something else (maybe Cymbalta?) when the Cymbalta(?) alone wasn't doing the trick. The Buspar made me feel like ME again. I eventually dropped the other med, and have now been on a maintenance dose of the Buspar for several years.
I hope you find what works for you.

It did not help my depression at all and sexual dysfunction. I could not finish no matter what. The worst. I do not have that problem on Wellbutrin.

I has helped my daughter but she is currently weaning off all because she has gained about 50 pounds on it.
When I took it years ago, I had TD on it so they immediately took me off.

I take it for relief from fibromyalgia pain and the panic attacks that are also a symptom of fibromyalgia. I started out on a very low dosage because the previous medication he put me on caused major depression and ultimately suicidal thoughts. I knew I was becoming depressed, but I thought it was related to being in the house by myself during the pandemic. It wasn’t until I started think about suicide that I realized something was very wrong with me and I started reading all of the medication pamphlets. I know I should have read the accompanying paperwork right away, but I had been on Celexa since shortly after the fibromyalgia diagnosis without any problems, so for several years. My doctor pulled me from it when I turned 65 because Celexa is apparently contraindicated for anyone older than 65.
Once I finally realized it was the antidepressant that was causing my severe depression, I weaned myself off of it and tried to just white knuckle the fibro pain. And I was very surprised at how long it took to completely feel like myself again after stopping it. That didn’t work as well as I had hoped, although I didn’t have any more panic attacks. I asked my doctor to put me back on something else because I couldn’t handle the additional pain any longer. He recommended the Wellbutrin. I requested a very low dose to start because I feared another depression reaction. I didn’t have any problems with it at all, but just recently asked my doctor to increase my dosage because the fibro pain was better but not by much. I attribute that to my climbing a ladder and carrying heavy boxes which won’t be happening forever. I have been on the higher dose for about a month now, I think, and I am happy to say that my pain is reducing and I have had no depression with it. I will probably remain on this the rest of my life unless a cure is discovered for fibromyalgia or there is some issue with the meds and age again.
I did learn that any antidepressant could cause severe depression and suicidal thoughts, just depending on how your body reacts to each specific kind. I do wish my doctor had warned me, but ultimately I know it is my own responsibility to read the pamphlets that come with each medication.
