I wonder if the rich ever stop to ponder that perhaps they are never satisfied because the continued accumulation of wealth, property, and belongings isn't bringing them contentment no matter how much more they amass or how often they upgrade.
I certainly know that I wouldn't be feeling happy or content in any of these homes. Or with having to bring in and deal with all the people I'd need to keep them clean and well-maintained.

That’s not my style of home, to say the least. But I hope Billy was happy there.
I don’t really compare never satisfied business people with talented artists who work their butt off and are rewarded. Billy is well past the age most people are retired, yet he’s still out there touring, putting in long shows and giving everything he’s got. My DD saw him in Seattle a few months ago and he was fighting a cold, but still gave a great show. At 75.
I’m not saying he’s not still lucky and that other people are just as deserving, but not rich. But that’s just it. He’s rich, from a combination of talent, luck, and hard work. He’s not “super” rich. He’s not a ruthless exploiter. He’s continued to work because it brings him joy and it certainly brings us his fans joy to hear him 😍. He has very young daughters and is settling down where their school is. I’m thinking he’s thinking about what he’ll be leaving his wife and children when he passes.
If this subject, ( obscene wealth and those not content ), were concerning some different people, I could get behind the subject for sure.

Fabulous house, far too much for just one family although I do not begrudge him his wealth at all. It was the quote "poverty doesn't exist because we are unable to feed the poor, poverty exists because we are unable to satisfy the rich" that has really resonated with me, more so than seeing the property.

Eh, the rich will always have their big houses, fancy cars and all that. It's just the way it is. I don't really care that much. He's been successful since the 1970s and has continued that to this day. Of course he has a butt load of money and how he spends it it is his money. He is so talented that someone like him doesn't bother me. Someone who is famous like one of these people from reality shows, now that makes me want to gag. What have they REALLY done to make themselves rich? Get lucky because of your looks? Or who you married?
Anyways, I am sure he does does his share of donations and helps out. It is what it is. Oh and by the way, I am a huge Billy Joel fan.. saw him last year for the first time, and it was awesome. My very first record album was Glass Houses.

For sure some rich folk will never be satisfied but once wealth gets to a certain level it just keep growing anyway, without any effort or much activity. I assume he still loves performing- it certainly seems like it when I saw him this summer 😊 The house is very nice, particularly the location...and the shower with the window seats

Do you think they will take an offer to subdivide the property?
I only want the beach house.

My comment on the quote was just a general observation, not with an intentional dig at Billy Joel. Signed, a long term fan.
