I am 57 and I have really noticed lately that my skin on my hands and arms below the elbow is looking like that "crepe" they talk about. I live in a very dry climate (Alberta) and I am not good at remembering to moisturize This is what my skin looks like (this is my actual hand) ... sorry the photo is so big! If you have skin like this, what product do you use to combat it? Please help!

Lotion (lots and throughout the day) and hydrate. I think remembering to use lotion often is more important than the brand. I use Jergins or CeraVe. I live in a semi-arid location.

Hydrate and check your B vitamins. It is either B7 or B12 that can cause skin issues.
I would talk with a dermatologist about it.
I use CeraVe lotion and cream on my skin throughout the day. Hands and arms mostly, all over after morning bath, and all over after night time rinse off.

To help you remember to use lotion, keep bottles around the house, workplace, or car. I have one on my desk at work. Every time I come back from the ladies’ room I put on lotion. At home, besides my bathroom, there is one on my main desk in the craft room, and one in the office. I also have one on the coffee table in the family room, and one in the kitchen. Yes, it is a lot, but it makes it easy for me to remember to use it.

I have the same problem probably a bit worse same age well getting close to a birthday. I find if I use lotion it helps a lot. On my hands a cream with hyaluronic acid seems to help. I just bought some Kopari guava ultra restore body butter. I bought it at TJ Max for $17 I like it but there are other options. This comes in other scents but this was my only option the day I went. I have been told that the vanilla is nice. I have some body oil from them in vanilla and it’s nice but I think the body butter helps more.

I recently started using Gold Bond Crepe Corrector a couple of months ago, got it on Amazon. It has 34K reviews but I'm not sure if it's done anything about mine yet.

My first winter here in Oregon wasn’t the kind of cold that made me sorry for making the move from warm Southern California, but we did have a couple of snow days and one bad ice storm. My skin was just not used to the change. Picture what you are seeing on your hand going all the way up to your shoulders on both arms. And make it twice as wrinkly. My legs were dry too, but they didn’t turn that strange texture. My realtor, who had lived here all of her life, had me buy Ultra Repair Cream by First Aid Beauty.
I had been using my normal lotions, but they were not moisturizing enough. The Ulta is a thick cream that comes in a tub, not a lotion dispenser like my other brands. It is amazing. In addition to looking weird, my hands had started to crack and bleed, partly from cold and partly because I had to deep clean this house when I moved in and I kept washing my hands. I finally got smart and ordered gloves from Amazon. The Ultra is honestly the best moisturizer I have ever used. It plumped up the skin and my arms looked 20 years younger in just a few minutes and it also stopped the cracking on my fingers.

Two things I’ve noticed with increased aging: crepey skin (first) and lower muscle mass (next). I had to start moisturizing at least once a day, because our bodies slow down production of oils. Cerave is great but really any lotion is better than nothing. Hydrating is important but you need to moisturize from the outside as well. To help muscles, more protein and weight resistance training has been a huge help for me. .

He also says if you were or are a sun worshiper you are guaranteed to get this.

It's inexpensive and does the job. I agree with keeping bottles around the house. That helps me remember it.

It happens with age, but it’s worse for people who suntan.

I have started using something new, and I LOVE it!!! My skin was never dry but at 59, yep, I now have dry skin thus it shows things more. Anyway, I am now using Tallow Balm, and this stuff is AMAZING. I use it on my face, neck, hands, elbows, etc. I put it on every night, and sometimes in the morning. I can tell a difference when I wake up. I buy from two different companies. One of them runs out as soon as they post they have more. Here is one that has it more readily available: Tallow Balm

Stop aging is the only real way to stop it. It just is part of aging, unfortunately.

I tend to buy unscented products so my multiple products don’t compete with my perfume. Have you purchased their unscented balm? I ask because they say their product is “grass-fed tallow” and that “ Grass-fed beef tallow is one of the few modern skincare ingredients that isn’t fractioned. Think of it as the “whole food” version of skincare. Instead of mixing fatty acids with antioxidant compounds and vitamins, you get all of those things in just one ingredient — and it’s extremely bioavailable.” This description makes it sound as though it is a more pure product, which is a good thing, but I am wondering about the smell, although I have no idea what pure beef tallow actually smells like. I also admit that I have no idea what “fractioning” actually is and I am wondering if there is a natural scent that is remaining in the product. I know they are not adding a scent to this one, but does the original product have a natural raw beef type scent? Have you tried their unscented product? I like what my realtor had suggested, but I am always open to trying new things. *I just read their description of their various products and they refer to the unscented product as being excellent for people with allergies or very sensitive skin. But it doesn’t say whether the product still has its own natural scent. Just that they mix it with olive oil. Also, does it make your skin feel greasy at all? Meaning can you use it during the day and not look shiny?

Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration 2. Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Night Cream 3. Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer Ok, I didn’t know that. When I bought mine, I only saw the one kind. Looking at my jar again, mine is the Intense Hydration version. And in looking at your list, I would try both that and the night cream just to see how it differs from the one I have been using both day and night just to see if there is a benefit that I have been missing. It has a very slight fragrance while still in the tub, but nothing detectable after I put it on, which I really like. I don’t want to have everything I am using, from shampoo to moisturizer, as well as some laundry detergents that leave a strong fragrance on my cleaned clothing, combining into a mishmash of fragrances. I have a few perfumes that I love and don’t want to have 6 different fragrances vying for attention so I buy unscented or extremely light scented products and the Intense Hydration, although very slightly scented, is fine. I don’t know if that is a concern for you, so I thought I should mention it.

I make my own whipped body butter with cocoa butter, coconut oil, jojoba, shea butter, and vit E oil. I tend to have very dry skin and in the winter it's awful!
Any kind of body butter for your body, and I really like L'Occitane hand cream in the little tubes for my hands. For my face I have various things.
I'm younger than you and my hands look much worse, but this is hardly surprising since I've been washing and using hand sanitizer umpteen times a day for almost three decades in healthcare. I expected it.

I've made my own whipped body butter that sounds very similar to the ingredients in the Tallow Balm. My husband learned that day not to lick the mixer bowl without asking first! I have been wanting to make more but I don't get suet with my 1/4 cow purchase. I added lavender essential oil to the body butter so I can't really comment on the fragrance question. I doubt it has a strong scent.

The one I get from the other company has frankincense in it so I smell that (which is definitely stronger). I doubt the unscented would be strong. When I first put it on, it can feel a little greasy but not bad. You also don't want to put too much on. But, as I said, I use it at night mostly so it soaks in overnight and is just lovely by the morning.
