We bought a Samsung washer and dryer a few years ago and I have hated them since day 1 but they wouldn’t let me return them. Absolute nightmare! Well it seems the washer broke and is unbalanced every wash. Good riddance! Gonna ditch the dryer too. Any suggestions for us, what to look for or what to stay away from? Want to be able to do a queen size comforter. Just saw the ge profile all in one and it looks amazing but might be too small.

My next set will be a Speed Queen. And I’d wash my clothes down on the river against a rock before I bought a Samsung appliance of any kind.

I have a Speed Queen washer with an agitator. I love it, and I have washed a queen comforter in it. My dryer is a Samsung, and I quite like it other than the fact it plays a ridiculously long song when done, that on this model only cannot be turned off.

Even a partial agitator is better that no agitator. I have a Maytag washer/dryer which I love but I wish I would have gone with the agitator as my loads of sheets and jeans get unbalanced easily.

I have a basic GE with agitator and love it. It was $500 for the washer. You don't need those expensive washers to get clothes clean. You need an agitator and water with a few settings.
My clothes are so much cleaner than the dang HE non agitator washers with a bazillion settings.

Our first set were Maytags. The dryer still worked so we found someone online to donate it too. The motherboard went in our second washer under warranty within two years. This month we bought a front load lg washer (we kept our old dryer), It is on a pedestal. I like the machine but as the drum is bigger it is more work reaching into the machine. My old machine had a light inside. This one does not. We bought the extended warranty and our credit card doubles the warranty up to an extra year.

LG is top rated by Consumer Reports. We have a top load washer and a dryer and love them both

Okay just the fridge and the washer. They’re almost 3 years old and already breaking down. No suggestions for new ones though.

We have non-digital Speed Queen washer and dryer. If I had to, I would do it all over again. Except we got them about 10 years ago. I don't know if that matters.

On my second set of LG front load machines. I loved my first set! All kinds of bells and whistles I didn’t use. They were pretty. Lasted over a decade.
My second set I decided on less bells and whistles and larger drum capacity. Plain as all get out. I do laundry 2 days with 2 weeks between, except sheets which are done weekly. It’s weird! Jay and I had a good system going, which I am trying to reconfigure.
I do not like that the rinse cycle is not just cold water. It has made some items shrink. There is a tap water cycle for the wash. But, no control over the rinse cycle temp. Additionally, the new dryer does not have an extra low heat cycle. I would have bought a more expensive dryer to get the ex low temp. Again, it has made some things shrink. Glad I buy too large quilts.
The washer sits on a washer drawer. I love it!

We wash blankets FREQUENTLY. We ended up buying a Speed Queen washer with a bigger capacity. The dryer repair guy told us in his almost 20 years doing repairs, he's never had to repair a Speed Queen. When our dryer dies, we are going with that brand.
I know I definitely prefer top loading washers. I didn't like cleaning the front of the washer. Plus, I'm average height. It's less awkward bending with a top loader.

ETA: It's an LG. We have non-digital Speed Queen washer and dryer. If I had to, I would do it all over again. Except we got them about 10 years ago. I don't know if that matters. Non-digital is very hard to find now. I wanted to go as low tech as possible, so we got the basic digital Speed Queen.

My Samsung did the same thing recently at only 4 years old. The suspension rods needed to be replaced which would only be $700! Our dryer had been repaired the year prior. We did find the same washer on a sale for $600 and we bought it was it was cheaper than a whole new set. Not impressed.

Non-digital is very hard to find now. I wanted to go as low tech as possible, so we got the basic digital Speed Queen. Actually I meant non-electronic. I don't remember there being any electronic SQs when we bought ours, but in case there are some now, I just wanted to mention mine was not electronic. Our are about 10 years old. (I don't know if digital or electronic are the same or not)

It has a 7 year warranty.

Went and ordered my speed queen tonight! I got the TR5. No bells and whistles. I will miss not seeing how much time is on the machine. The sales guy actually said you don’t need digital. The only other thing was that I didn’t realize how small the inside was till I actually saw it. I don’t even know if I can fit my queen comforter in it. But I’ll have the machine for a long long time hopefully!!

DDIL and I both have Maytag and we both really like them a lot. I would buy them both again. I needed to get the washer repaired because a pair of pyjamas got stuck but otherwise they have been wonderful for 5 years.

DO NOT lET THE PRICE INFLUENCE YOUR DECISION. Mostly you get what you pay for. Do the brands have to match? Does brand A have a great washer and a sucky dryer? And brand B the reverse?
If you didn't know ... Whirlpool owns Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and so on. They also manufacture most of Kenmore's laundry (together with LG) and virtually all Ikea's appliances.
Electrolux owns Frigidaire, AEG, Zanker, Zanussi, Dishlex, Wascator, and so on.
Give me coffee to change the things I can and rum to accept those I cannot.

We had to purchase a new one earlier this year. We got the Whirlpool 3.8cu ft High Efficiency Impeller and Agitator Top-Load Washer. I've been happy with it.
