DH work started paying for our internet bill when he started working from home, because co-workers were choosing the cheapest internet and it was unreliable... We still have to pay the bill, but then get reimbursed, and because it's somehow tied to DH company, we can't get autopay set up (we tried, Comcast couldn't figure it out either.) So, every month I pay the bill with a check and mail it. And it takes so long for them to process my payment that I either get the next bill for twice the amount like I did not pay, or have a credit like I overpaid. It's never in sync. Even if I pay the bill and mail it the minute it gets here. I have started just sending two payments at a time just because I don't like getting statements that say I have a past due bill. Right now, I mysteriously have a 30 cent credit so wrote the amount due minus 30 cents, next month I will probably owe the amount plus 30 cents because their billing is so screwed up. Maybe I am too quirky for my own good Anyone else still pay paper bills?

Can you log into your account online and pay?

Yes, why can’t you pay online, print out the monthly statement showing your payment, then submit that for reimbursement? And what is with the company taking so long to process your payment?? That would really annoy me.
And I still do one monthly check - to my HOA. They’ve messed up my online payment twice, which is my limit, so now they get mailed a paper check. I also pay certain special bills (like property taxes) with a check.

Do quarterly taxes count as an annoying bill? I have a few that I still write a check for every month because I refuse to pay the service charge they tack on for online paying.
Comcast is the worst. After DH passed away I cancelled the account and started a new one in my name but because the email address was the same I couldn’t go online to pay, it kept bringing up the old account. Took forever to get that straightened out

Even if you can't pay online through the internet company's website, you should be able to use your own bank's online bill pay to set up a recurring payment to be sent on a certain date.

YES I have one annoying bill and I still don't even know what it is for honestly. When we moved into our house over 20 years ago, we randomly got this sewer bill. I thought it was just some random junk mail. Never heard of a sewer bill. We are not on septic or anything like that. Some years we get no bill, some years we are threaten to pay it, then nothing. It's the weirdest thing. You can't call anyone nor get ahold of anyone. I paid it last year and they never cashed my check. Now I got the bill and if I don't pay by the end of the month it goes to collections or whatever. It just bugs me because there is never any explanation on who these people are or what they really do other than something with the sewers (which I would think would go through the water company)
In fact, I am going to ask on our HOA website to see if anyone else gets this 'bill'.
Edited: The only bill I pay by check is our lawn guy, and he doesn't even have texting. So yeah.

Payment was late last time and sent a collection letter notice. It seems like the bill arrives sporadically. Is the amount about $110? I am in unincorporated Arapahoe county with Denver Water.

My flood insurance bill is annoying. Not because it's a paper bill, but because state law says that if you have a mortgage your flood insurance must be paid through escrow. It's so freaking annoying to me. Paying any bill through escrow irks me, because if I paid my flood insurance, I'd pay it all at once, in advance and be done with it. Instead it gets dragged out over the whole year and my mortgage payment is always going up and down due to the insurance and whether or not there's enough in the escrow account when it's time to pay the bill. AND, if the insurance amount goes up enough that we want to see about changing companies, we have to go through all of this extra crap with the bank to change it. I'm a grown ass woman. I can pay my own insurance bill, thank you very much. They trust me to pay the regular insurance. The taxes. The mortgage itself. Why not the flood insurance? As for paper bills, yes, all of my taxes are paper bill, as are any services I pay the town directly for, as are most everything to do with school. In some cases there are online options, but they all come with fees, and those fees add up to more than the cost of checks, envelopes, and stamps. In the case of the taxes, to much more!

Not quite the same, but our alarm system has a yearly permit fee through the county sheriff's office, for $20. We always got the bill in May. Then we switched alarm companies and had to get a new permit and it has been hit or miss whether I get a notice or not so I just send $20 in May no matter what. I should check if the check is actually being cashed...

Not as bad as your example but our water bill charges a fee every month when we pay it. I can't stand paying that fee, just because they won't eat the cost of processing the credit card, even they they require a credit card to pay online, of course.
So...what I do is pay in advance - I pay for a full year at at time (which is about $250) and then I only have to pay the fee one time and I'm prepaid for the rest of the year. It's a bit annoying but it aggravates the fire out of me to pay that credit card processing fee. Why should I have to pay extra money to pay you my bill?

I think ours is about $66, but whatever the sporadic bill is, it seems it is always a different amount IF we even get the bill. I'm in unincorporated Adams.

My allergist only accepts checks or cash and I'm on a high deductible plan, so they bill me. I go monthly for allergy shots, so I get a bill for $12 and some change every month that I have to write a check for and put in the mail. (I guess I could hold onto it until my next shot, but I just want to be done with it.

I pay my gas bill by check. To pay online they charge $3. So, they provide the envelope, I get free checks and I pay for a stamp. Far less to do that than the $3 charge.

$265 cable bill, not even good channels. Just the basic package. Yeah that’s annoying. Before you ask…it’s cable, internet, and the landline. We truly only have the landline for telemarketers.

All of them. 🤔
But seriously my rent at my salon. Landlord doesn’t cash check for weeks. Water bill at home adds a$2 fee to pay online. So dumb.

I only pay the guy who cuts the grass and contractors with checks. Everything else is paid online, and my regular recurring payments are automatic. I love it. Something else to remember is that there are now checks being stolen from mail boxes. I read that a few weeks ago.
I would set up an automatic payment. That way there is a clear, regular record of your payments, which it sounds like you might need.

One of the best things that I ever did was to ditch that landline. I get far fewer annoying calls, and I block them. I recommend it.

That’s pretty much the only bill I pay by check to is the guy who mows my lawn. But I pay him weekly. if you the only other one I pay by check is my school tax and taxes because if you go online and pay it by debit card, they charge you a fee.

I don't get US banking lol - can you not log in to your online banking and pay a bill from there??
Here in Canada you set up paying bills with your bank account (on the bank website). I can see all my transactions, and have a "pay bill" section. I can add pretty much any company if they are in the system. It is tied to your account number with the company, and then any time I want to pay it I select that bill, the amount I owe, and it is processed electronically. Right out of my bank account. No credit card needed.
You can't do that?

I don’t know of any bank that doesn’t have that.
A lawn guy or such will want payment when he does the work maybe but all the others, I pay on line

Most of our bills are set for automatic payment so they just get aid on the pre-set date and we don’t have to worry. No cheque fees, no stamp just convience.

My lawn guy finally set up an online account so I can pay him without a check now. It is very convenient. The only checks I write are for property and school tax because I don't want to pay the online fee.

Lot of people in the US don’t trust online banking, or they are old school and still write checks. I mean we are years behind you in using tap-to-pay. 😂 I pay what I can first with credit card (for the points) then use online banking for lots of bills. I mentioned above that I stopped doing it with mh HOA fee because twice they messed up the incoming payment, so I send them a paper check now. I use the online banking mainly for recurring bills. Special bills, like property tax or IRS, get a paper check. ETA - The US has lots of banks, over 4,000 institutions, I think more than most countries. Many of them are small banks, so getting everyone onto the same computer systems for online bill paying is not an easy task. It is expensive and some smaller banks can’t afford the technology upgrade.
