I once left after a 90 minute wait. I never went back.
I think the medical profession is under tremendous stress. It's a mess. Doctors see an incredible number of patients a day - sometimes over 30. Of course they will run late. No good answers.
Now I go to a concierge practice. That fee for that practice was my crafting money!!

I wouldn't stand for that. I would be out the door after 30 minutes. My time is just as important as theirs. When I was pregnant with ds, I sat in a gown for an hour while I heard the OB in the next room talking shit with another patient. Not talking about medical stuff, just talking shit. He finally came in and apologized and said he had an emergency. I told him I heard the entire emergency and that my time is valuable and I am not going to sit there while he talks about this or that with another patient on my time. He did his exam, I left and found another OB.

I have never experienced anything remotely like that. I think my longest wait ever was about 30 minutes.

I've waited about 30 minutes in an exam room for a specialist. His scheduler admits that he's often triple booked.
Can't believe the stories of being forgotten! That's crazy.

I’ve waited 30 minutes for my well woman visit. I was so mad that I was already in my paper gown because I totally would have walked into the hall to see what was taking so long. I seriously contemplated putting my clothes back on and go searching, but she finally came in.
I get stuff happens, but somone should be available to let us know what’s going on. Maybe the doors need to have timers on them so everyone knows how long we’ve been waiting.

2.5 hours in a room for a gyn appt. Naked but for a gown. Brought nothing to do. Started counting dots on the ceiling tiles. I think they went to lunch. It was verrrry quiet after the first half hour. At one point I had to pee so I quickly put on my clothes and found a restroom down the hall. No one around. Ghost town. I went back, undressed and waited and waited.

You are very patient! I would not wait more than 15 minutes without walking out to the main desk and inquiring. 10 more minutes and I’d get dressed and leave.

My dad walked out of the doctor's once. The staff were shocked. Dad told them that his time was as valuable as theirs. They haven't kept him waiting since.
No way would I wait more than a half hour. Fortunately, all of my doctors have been very good about this. I read all of your stories and my mind is blown. I really haven't had this problem at all- the longest I have to wait is 15-20 minutes. My dad's experience is the only one I know of a long wait. I go to the same eye doctor and they have always been pretty quick with me.

When you enter my local surgery, you book in electronically, take a seat in the waiting room. The nurse, doctor, physio, whoever you are seeing, walks to the waiting room, calls your name and walks back with you to their room. The room has all they need to examine you.
If you have been waiting more than 15 mins you can ask the receptionist but if there is a delay they often just let everyone know.
Thankfully, the surgery also has a dispensary. So, if you are prescribed a medicine, you wait ten minutes or so to get it filled.
