Good morning.
We're heading out to a boat tour. I love boating, so I'm in my happy place. Then we'll walk the little boardwalk.
What's everyone up to today?
What's on your menu?
Wishing all a happy, easy day ahead.

Happy Thursday!
I had a good birthday all in all yesterday. Thanks again for the good wishes!
Tonight, we're celebrating my birthday with the family. I asked my BIL if he could make steaks so we'll probably do that and play some cards. it will be nice because it will just be adults tonight. We've had a lot of chaotic celebrations with all of the grands, so I'm ready for some adult time!
Hope you all have a great day!

A fairly quiet day here today - just the usual things; laundry, groceries, meal prep. The next clue for my mystery shawl KAL dropped while I was out shopping, so I watched that over coffee when I got home. I’m not ready to start it yet - only half way through the previous clue - but I wanted to see where it was going. Dinner tonight is Korean fried chicken ( or at least, my cheats version) with coleslaw.

It is a quiet work day. I am not complaining. I do have to teach a class tonight. scrapmaven you asked yesterday what my mom was doing for our dinner plans that were all messed up. My parents went ahead and had dinner with their friends last night. My kids and grandkids will come over tonight. I am going home this afternoon and make a few side dishes for them since i won't be there. I will grab something for dinner on my way home tonight. Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Happy Fall is Finally Here Thursday!!! Well, only for a few days, but a fall day is always to be celebrated! Woke up to mid-50's and had to turn on the furnace to get the chill out of the house. It's a wonderful reprieve from the 98-99 temps we were dealing with at the first of the week. I'm sure the a/c will be back on in 2-3 days though.
It's been a busy week here. DH is making progress in rehab, still not yet able to walk but getting a bit closer each day. They have extended his stay until Oct 23, but we will work with insurance to see if he can stay until he is able to walk with a walker at least. Also have started the process to get him into MD Anderson to come up with a continued plan to treat his cancer. Â
This afternoon I have my annual appointment for contact lens renewal, followed by my annual eye appointment with my eye specialist.  Will go back later to order new glasses. On the way home I will get a mani/pedi because DD and I have a wedding to attend on Sat. evening (she's one of many bridesmaids). So disappointed DH can't attend but I'm glad I get to go. The bride and DD have been best buds since 7th grade and shared an apartment for 3 years when DD first graduated college, so she is part of the family! Â
Dinner tonight is up in the air. Might be soup or I have some spaghetti sauce in the freezer.  I'll see what I'm in the mood for later. Â

Just a normal work day here today. Doing financial stuffs.
Tonight I have to be at the wedding venue at 6pm. 2.5 months out from the big day! We are looking at the items the venue has for us to use and what else will be needed, along with (I hope) a plan for set up to be done. We can't get into the venue until the day of the wedding at 6am and the time of wedding is 11am. In my mind, not enough set-up time. Then get ready and picture time, then wedding. But I am not in charge so there's that. I will smile and say great! I voiced my concerns to YDS and let him take over from there.
Since I do have to be there at 6 and the drive is 30 minutes to get there, I may ask DH if he wants to meet at the BBQ place on the way there. He can then head home and I can be on my merry way and dinner is done. I have a sneaky suspicion I will be asked to just grab BBQ as I drive by to bring home to him.
Hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven , have fun at the boat tour! jeremysgirl , enjoy your day off! I was up at 6:40 since I had an 8AM hair appointment. Then I hit Costco and just got home. I'll continue to work on my layouts (I'm on day 6 of a 17 trip so I need to step it up!) One good thing is that DH is playing in a golf tournament Sat and Sun so that will leave my morning free to continue to prepare. Dinner will salmon burgers with a fruit salad and zucchini. Took me longer than it should have:

I love being on the water anywhere. I'm puttering around, avoiding dealing with Social Security and Canada Pension Plan paperwork that needs to get processed. I have to run a few errands, including dropping our completed ballots off at the library, and might just go sit at the SS office to see how long it takes to get a few questions answered. Dinner will be fish tacos because they are fast & easy and make everyone happy.

I had to turn the heat on this morning because it is a wfh day and 65 degrees is a bit chilly for that. And now the sun is out and it is about 76 degrees in here. Which is too warm. 😂😂
I have pinto beans going on the stove and will make corn bread and pork chops later to go with them.

Hi everyone. Just finished baking 30 muffins - 15 apple cinnamon and 15 cranberry. The apple are egg free so I can enjoy those. Made some earlier this week and they were so good. Applesauce just adds great moistness (sorry if that is a trigger word) to the muffins. Dd will have a baked potato with delicious toppings and a muffin. Dh and I will be enjoying lasagna soup and muffins. Rooting for the Saints on TNF since the Broncos are in my division (AFC West). Other than that, just enjoying the overcast cool weather. We could get some light rain here and there. But so far just misty drizzle. Delta Dawn have you spoken to allergy? (sorry I hadn't had time to reply honestly not bringing this up for a rehash). There is a rare allergy that affects the esophagus and can cause difficulty swallowing. Certain foods are triggers and it can last so then other foods aren't fun to eat. I have a good friend whose dd has it as well as a family member. Worth looking into. Hugs to you.

In Arkansas. Which can go either way honestly. Since there is not a lot of deco for the actual wedding outside, it won't be that hard to pull it in and pivot. Or, in my brain there shouldn't be. The set-up team are the groomsmen and family members basically.

I am just finishing up some work in the office and then I am going to lunch with Kait. We might do a walk around Target if I am feeling up to it. Other than that I will sit in my chair and work on my cross stitich.
Dinner tonight is a nice pot of Zuppa Toscana.
Hope you are all having a nice day!

naby64.. I used to coordinate weddings at. my church, and with a reception, mostly people had 5 hours. 2 hours before wedding, and 3 hours after. either streamline what needs to be done, or get more people to help. it is stressful!!!!
had a dermatology screening today.. doc said come back when you have concerns.. maybe full screen in 3-5-10 yrs.. whatever you think is best.
lots of errands and about to do my packing. my boots I need are in idaho, so will have to think of something else to go with black dress.
dinner is chicken.. not sure what .. maybe stir fry again. and salad. up at 4 am tomorrow to get to airport by 4:45 am. dh said he would take me.. the sweetheart. (it is a 15 min drive there. ).

I don’t get the meme cadoodlebugHere’s a recipe site you might like jeremysgirl and naby64She used to be local and started a vegan cafe. I think she sold her part. She’s no longer vegan but still eats it sometimes. www.hummusapien.com/bbq-tofu/It’s just been a busy week. I’m too tired to type it all out. Nothing bad just a lot. I’ll probably have tortilla crusted tilapia with rechauffe veggies & salad. Dh is golfing. Happy Thursday.

I got emails I was tagged so I came to check in. Shit is hitting the fan at work. Yesterday was nuts. Just nuts. I will forever be grateful to Tearisci for having a birthday and making me think that I, too, could enjoy a midweek day off. Because yesterday me was thanking Tuesday me for today today off. 😂 I made the mistake of logging in this morning just to see the outcome of something that happened yesterday. And then I was disappointed and sent an email. And then of course I had to log back in to see if I had a response a bit later. I did and it was disappointing. So I sent an email noting my disappointment and shut the entire damn computer down. I should never have looked. So I opened all my windows so it would get super chilly and laid down on the couch with a book and a blanket. And spent most of the afternoon like that. It was not what I had in mind for today but apparently what I needed. Thank you for asking cadoodlebug. I'm resisting the urge to call in sick tomorrow. *Cough, cough* ntsf have a great trip. naby64 I am the world's biggest morning person and that timeline scares me. pantsonfire applesauce is such a staple in vegan baking that I'm keeping a jar on hand all the time now. It does make muffins moist. Enjoy! teddyw thank you for that link. I'm always eager to check out some new information on plant based eating. The Birdhouse Lady I'm seriously trying to figure out how I can veganize a deliciously gooey cheesey pepperoni pizza. I'm failing to figure out how. So I'll just join you because your dinner is what I'm craving now after reading the thread.

cadoodlebug that meme is funny! I had to squint to see the numbers, otherwise I wouldn't have got the joke. I had promised DSO that I would make some form of pork belly during the week, seeing that we missed out on pork belly when we couldn't get into the restaurants we wanted to on Sunday. I made one of our favourites: Crispy pork belly bao with sriracha mayo. I made the bao buns from scratch, which I've done many times before. The looked good as they were proving, but as soon as I picked them up to pop them in the steamer, they sunk and shrivelled. I have no idea what I did wrong this time. They did puff up a bit after steaming, and they tasted okay, they just weren't as fat and fluffy as normal.

jeremysgirl I hear ya. I've been worried since the time was changed from 2pm to 11am. This changed the entire reception menu. But it's not my circus, just my monkeys. I don't have control over that and I am letting go. My son knows how I feel about it and most likely has passed that info on. Invitations are printed so there is no going back at this point. There is no alcohol for this event. However, DD and I will have mimosas in the back of the car. DS has said he and his boys will have their flasks. So I am going to look fabulous, dance with my boy and call it good! Also, other than 1 sister, they are all on the different side of voting than I am. I just got notice we are going out to eat after this venue thing. I am just hoping, praying, doing the moondance, whatever it takes that no one brings up anything political at dinner. My give a damn is broken and my tongue is sore.

TGI -almost- Friday!
Why is it that short weeks always feel the longest?
Not much going on here today... However, my mom and I made plans to see a show on Broadway right before Christmas, so that should be fun. We went together 13 years ago for my 21st, so I'm excited to go back with her for a few days.

naby64.. my dd got married in new zealand dec 2017 and another ceremony here in SF in feb 2018. at both weddings they first announced what to do in case of an earthquake (a real thing near christchurch nz) and announced that in the spirit of the day, no political talk was welcome. it actually worked. no one talked politics. a miracle.
for the whole weekend, I am going out to eat.. so that will be a bit of a challenge. I'm going to buy something to have at the house for breakfast. I'm staying at my best friend's house (they are going to be gone).
