Good morning.
Our boat ride yesterday was really rough. Dh and I spent the afternoon very zoned in our room. Who knew that dh can get motion sickness? He took one of my tummy meds and was knocked out.
Today we head home. We'll come back here, again, minus the boat.
What's everyone up to today?
What's for dinner. Ds will be home and he can pick up takeout.
What's on plan for the weekend? I have a knitting g class tmw am. Apart from that it's quiet.
Wishing everyone a happy, relaxing, fun weekend.

Ugh sorry about your boat ride scrapmaven. Sounds awful! I'm under the weather today with a cold. It started coming on around my birthday but I thought it was just allergies. I've got an awful cough and a drippy nose. I'm bummed because I was supposed to go see ELO tonight, but I'm just going to stay put for a few days and see if I can kick this over the weekend. Not sure what dinner will be tonight. I've got some options from Trader Joe's so I'll see what sounds good later. Hope you all have a great day!

{{{{ scrapmaven}}}} Miss you lady!! Had some downtime today and wanted to check in with my favorite people. Life has been good lately just lots going on. I had my first mammogram last week since I hit that age. Of course I got the dreaded first time call back, now I'm waiting to get a call from scheduling to get the ultrasound done. Fingers crossed it's anything but the evil stuff. I'm craving a burger so dinner tonight will be Society Burger probably. I hope all is well with the dinner tribe.

Sorry the boat ride was so turbulent scrapmaven . And I'm sorry you're under the weather Tearisci . I'm heading out to AquaFit and it's cold! 51° and very windy. Dinner might be grilled tri-tip steaks. TGIF everyone! ETA: Great to see you PolarGreen12! Hopefully the callback is nothing.

scrapmaven - what a bummer about your boat ride. I was surprised when we were in Venice. When we arrived it was raining heavily, with strong winds and we had to catch a ferry from the parking station just off the mainland out to the island and I was worried, but it ended up not being so bad. Our other boat trips - out around the islands and back to the car park - were in much nicer weather, thankfully. Today was another quiet day. I went out to pick up prescriptions for DH and did recycling while I was out. Other than that, I’ve been reading and knitting. Dinner tonight is going to be salmon and spinach bake, served over brown rice.

Happy Friday!!!
I slept pretty good last night, so that’s a win!!!! We have a weather advisory for high winds and cold temps!! It’s still dark here but I can hear the wind howling.
Lunch or dinner today will be Red Robin. I have a free burger coupon for my birthday. I think I will get the blue ribbon burger. It has blue cheese and fried onion straws! Yum! 🍔 Do you like blue cheese?!?!
Other than that, I’m going to do some book work in the office, work on my cross stitch, and watch the Good Wife.
Hope you have a mellow Friday!!
@polargreen it’s so good to “see” you!!!

scrapmaven: Seasickness is no joke! I feel for your DH. In my recent cruise, the first night was rough. I didn’t get sick but sure felt awful. I took Gravol every morning and evening after that and I was good. Not much happening here today. I’m just off for a walk since the sun is shining and the temps are nice. Walker has a sore back, he sometimes squeals when you pet his back. We are hoping he just needs to rest it. Thinking maybe he tweaked it when running and sliding on the deck or the hardwood in the livingroom. He doesn’t seem to be in pain just walking or laying down, just when you pet along his back. Supper is unknown right now.

The Birdhouse Lady you too! I like bleu cheese. My Mom and I went and got out free burgers last month for our bday. My fave is always the Southern Charm with extra cheese. 🤤

It's Friday! Yay!!! scrapmaven sorry your boat ride was so rough. Fortunately, I am not prone to sea sickness but a friend can't even step on a boat without getting sick. Tearisci hope you can get the cold quickly! PolarGreen12 hoping you can get in quickly to get the other mammogram. Another quiet day in the office. It's a good thing. I am on call if I am needed to pick up DGS from school. He was playing football at recess yesterday. When he caught the ball he turned right into the basketball goal post and split his head open. A trip to the er resulted in stitches but they said no concussion. I told DS with four boys you will get many more calls like this. He really wanted to go to school today because they are having their fall party before fall break starts next week. I will be dropping my parents off at my brothers tonight so he can get them to the airport tomorrow. They purchased a duplex yesterday so they are officially moving back. Dinner will b steaks on the grill.

Good morning! I am just coming up for air as I have finished my financial reports for a meeting on Sunday. I survived last night. Then woke at 5:45 with tummy issues. Got back in bed and snuggled in and ALL OF A SUDDEN IT HIT ME! I have a rehearsal dinner in 2.5 months and I have nothing for it! The wedding venue has deco supplies there and for the most part, we are using those. For the wedding. I almost sat up in bed when I realized I don't have anything except the table cloths at this point. Thought we would do a bbq catering and then a friend showed up and told me they did catfish for her son's dinner. LIGHTBULB! YDS loves catfish. So now that has been added to the list of calls. I have made some quick work of finding some things this morning. A welcome sign on Amazon. I have a lantern from Dollar Tree that is fairly new out. I am hoping to scour all of our local ones here to find more. Spray paint them a textured ivory. They are nice and tall and will look nice on the tables with greenery and candles. Whew! I am feeling better. I think dinner tonight will be takeout. I am either running up to the Rock to do errand shopping today or tomorrow. Costco, Trader Joe's, Target, Old Navy for some jeans. Depends on said tummy issue. scrapmaven sorry about the rough boat ride Tearisci boo to the cold! Hope you feel better soon! PolarGreen12 I really hope that it is something that just needs a clearing up. Good news thoughts coming your way. cadoodlebug , yum steaks! sueg nothing like a slow calm day. I wish someone else in the house liked salmon. I will make it just for me but it is such a chore to figure out another protein at times. The Birdhouse Lady that burger sounds fabulous. When we lived in Tampa there was burger place that had so many burgers listed. We always got the BC burger. Glad you slept better. taylortroop poor Walker. stormsts those pesky boys. My two played football and I was always expecting and waiting for an injury call. Nope, nothing more than stepped on hands. They were both centers. UNTIL YDS senior year. He miscalculated a turn and took a header into a tree. We were lucky he was driving my grandmother's old Buick LeSabre. That thing was a tank. Just a broken nose and concussed. It could have been so much worse.

Yum! 🍔 Do you like blue cheese?!?! I was so excited when I found out we had a Red Robin about 20 minutes away. Growing up in the PNW, they were everywhere but I found one in DFW that isn't too much of a haul. I get the Red's Tavern Double but yours sounds good too. Enjoy your burger!

I am making veal parmesan for dinner...first attempt at that. DH loves it and it was on sale at the market last week, so it can't be so hard, Right??? I had sauce in the freezer and picked up cheese while I was out.
scrapmaven sorry the boat trip produced sick stomachs😕 Taerisci...sorry you have a cold...that stinks. The Birdhouse Lady...enjoy that burger....I love blue cheese...I put BC crumbles on our salads when I make them😊

Just got back from AquaFit and it was brutal. OMG the wind chill was horrible. And my hat blew off immediately into the water. The same hat that withstood the wind/cold in Iceland! But we had an amazing workout, mostly weights so I'm glad I was one of 12 who braved the weather and went.

I'm killing time while on hold with SSA. My visit yesterday resulted in a phone appointment scheduled for Dec 6. They suggested I call today to see if I can get on the cancelation list, so that is what I'm hoping to get done today. Not sure why it couldn't be done in office yesterday. And, yes, I started doing this online and didn't get far before the message that I didn't qualify to apply online popped up and I was directed to visit the local office. I'll stay on hold until the laundry is done, then try again this afternoon after running errands. Not sure exactly what is for dinner but have zucchini and spinach that needs to be used, so it is looking like a pasta dish is most likely. So sorry the boat ride was no fun, scrapmaven. Hoping your call back just results in better base line information for the next mammo, PolarGreen12. Hope Walter's tender spot disappears, taylortroop. Wow, that was fast, stormsts. Do you think your parents should have been looking at senior living places or are they well enough to be looking after/maintaining their own home?

Super windy here. Santa Ana winds means it is officially fall in my area of CA. Unfortunately it is causing poor visibility due to ash in the air from the local fires. The one that started 15 min from me is 98% contained and federal fire is on it now.
Thankfully the wind is cool but we are in a very high fire alert. Ugh. Some friends have had their power stopped as well.
I am serving turkey burgers, fries, onion rings, and baked beans. Need left overs for tomorrow's lunch since both kids have events. Ds was asked to be part of a smaller choir group from his larger district group to perform at a walk fundraiser! He is excited.

Wow, that was fast, stormsts. Do you think your parents should have been looking at senior living places or are they well enough to be looking after/maintaining their own home? It was very fast. I was pretty shocked. This is a community of all duplexes. The HOA covers everything outside. Mowing, snow removal, trimming shrubs and also the exterior of the unit. They won't have to do anything. They will be fine in something like that for a while. Dad gets around much better than my mom and he is much sharper mentally. I have stressed the need for her to get back to the dr and tell him what is going on with her mentally.

If I go, depends on if they have VIP/All access spot open and serving.

Walker just hasn’t been himself today so we decided to call the vet. They got us right in. The vet gave him a thorough checkup and didn’t find any lumps or bumps. He said no dislocated joints or torn ACLs. He gave him a shot of pain killer and muscle relaxer and then pills to take every day for 14 days. So hopefully he just needs to rest and play like a wild dog for the next couple weeks.
I’ve put a beef roast in the oven and will have some mashed potatoes and a veggie to go with it.

PolarGreen12, WOOHOO! Hello there. I've missed you. So glad that you're here today. So many of us have had callbacks. Just know that 9 times out of 10 it's normal. Sometimes they just need to press out some boob tissue to get a better look. Ultrasound can help them see through dense breasts. The odds of you being just fine are great. If it's something scary then you'll make a plan with your doctor, get through it and move fwd w/a happy life. For now, just try to distract yourself. Tearisci, I'm sorry to hear that you caught a cold during your family and birthday week. You get a do-over. jeremysgirl, I can't wait to hear about the work shakeup. Maybe things are finally going to shift in your favor. It's time for the idiocy btwn your boss and coworker to stop. stormsts, it might be a lot easier on you to have your folks nearby. Yes, it is stressful, but you're right there in an emergency. Your mom will not be likely to go to the doctor willingly, so you might have to do some manipulating to get here there. You have to go w/her and tell the doctor everything. Your mom will not remember the things she is forgetting, but she knows that she is forgetting things and will be too scared to mention it. This is the hard part. Roles shift and you become the grown up. We went through it w/my fil. My dh started going to all of his doc appts w/his mother and that's how they were able to diagnose and treat fil's dementia. It's a hard road, but once you know what's happening then it gets easier as she accepts help. For now, she just needs to find out what's going on w/her mind. We're home and I'm glad. It was a nice first day of the trip and we do want to go back.

PolarGreen12 praying your ultrasound is clear. scrapmaven so sorry you had a rough boat ride. I'm prone to motion seasickness. I remember rough rides to Catalina Island and at Hawaii. Ick! taylortroop I'm sorry Walker is hurting and glad you got him into the vet and he was proactive. Poor little guy. The Birdhouse Lady I like blue cheese but not on my burger. I remember making blue cheese burgers the first year I was married. They were a memorable disaster. cadoodlebug you are a brave woman. That would be a total sign for me to sleep in that day. I remember swim meets for DS that were in brutal cold windy rainy weather. Ick! stormsts OUCH! Did you hear me say that? Poor guy! naby64 sounds like you made great progress on your dinner. karenlou The only tip I have on veal is not to overcook it. I typically make veal picatta and I may try marsala next time. jeremysgirl hoping your work keeps you unscathed. Today is a low key day. Tonight we plan to eat out or takeout. Catching up on a few things and slept in. It's warmer for the weekend. I was really enjoying the 70's weather.
