I think I'd like the sinks in the actual bathroom and here's why. Because after I'm done with my toileting I don't want to have to open a door in order to be able to clean my hands. A valid point. Conversely, when I have used the toilet in our guest bathroom, I have never closed the door between the toilet and the sinks. I just close the main door.

Then what's the point of having a separate room with a separate door if you're not even using the door? It just doesn't make sense in my mind.

Thanks scrapmaven . I have to start work in half an hour, and I have a customer meeting on Teams at 10:30am. I have to prepare a report for the meeting, so I'll be jumping right in this morning. I hope the meeting goes better than the last two with these customers..... I hope you're able to shake off your cold quickly. DH also wants to convert the double sink to only one so they have more counter space..... both like to have ALL their things visible so drawers and cupboards are underutilized. I think that more counter space is definitely a MUCH better option than having two sinks - especially if they keep their stuff out on the counter! When we renovated our bathrooms a few years ago, DSO wanted a bigger bathtub (he often had baths). This meant that we lost half of the counter top to fit in the bigger bath. DD wasn't happy to lose all of that valuable counter real estate. The best thing about popping into the thread today is that I got to see those gorgeous photos of **GypsyGirl** and her daughter! You both look beautiful. 🤩

I think I'd like the sinks in the actual bathroom and here's why. Because after I'm done with my toileting I don't want to have to open a door in order to be able to clean my hands. They don't close the inside door when on the toilet. It's partly the way the door swings in, partly they are only going to be a minute or two and partly easy access to the sink. They do close the door when showering but they also don't use the sink area if they hear/know the other one is in there. They have had their own sinks for 16 years so I understand not wanting to share and fight over toothpaste stains or hair, etc., again. It is a privilege/first world problem for sure but I just see a fight over counter space happening if a sink is eliminated. The first 8 or so years of their lives all four of us shared one bathroom, then we transitioned to two for a couple years before buying this house, where everyone has their own sink. I haven't seen a listing with our layout, but it is pretty common for an upstairs kids bathroom here. These two houses both have the door in the bathroom situation but are long, narrow rooms. Our door is behind you when standing at the sink, so a square layout. 1211 Tesero Place (photo 3 of 5 of just the bathrooms, photo 30 of 58 if looking at all) 5173 Avenida de la Plata (photo 6 of 6 just bathrooms, photo 38 of 58 if looking at all)

Then what's the point of having a separate room with a separate door if you're not even using the door? It just doesn't make sense in my mind. I'm sure someone thought it was an innovative design so multiple people could use the bathroom at the same time, especially if you have younger kids bathing while others can be brushing their teeth, etc. I just don't think it works as well for older kids/teens/adults who want more privacy in the bathroom. FWIW, I can't imagine supervising young kids in the tub with this layout because there is so little room in the toilet/tub area. But the worst bathroom designs are jack & jill, where the only access is through one of the kid's bedrooms. It's pretty popular with houses built about 20 years ago here.

Another weekend nearly over. We left yesterday morning for some local adventures and didn't get home for 9 hours. We started our day at the pumpkin patch, high-tailed it out of there before it got too people-y, poked around Spirit Halloween, walked around a mall and grabbed a quick slice of pizza for lunch, saw The Nightmare Before Christmas at the movies (I'd forgotten how genuinely spooky some of those scenes are!), ate a Thai dinner (so good -- it had been a long time since we'd gone there), 5 Below, and then grocery shopped at Aldi. We both slept well. Hah. Today's been somewhat lazier. I did laundry this morning, and we made dinner for the week. It was supposed to be chicken and rice soup, but DH added quite a bit of rice, so it's more casserole-y, but I'm sure it'll still be tasty! I think I have the small rumblings of something sinus-y going on. My primary care physician said she thinks it's my ears that always cause me issue, but I do have my second opinion ENT visit this week, so hopefully he'll be able to help me more than the other one I saw! And in just over 2 weeks, we'll be on our way for our mini vacation!!

**GypsyGirl**, you and your dd are beautiful. That dress is perfect with your beautiful eyes. Thank you to everyone for their sweet compliments! I hear it quite frequently when I wear that dress how it matches my eyes so well. The necklace was a good match as well. It's a blown glass bead Mdina necklace I picked up in Malta about 12-13 years ago. Apparently I have a thing for that shade of blue!

Dh's and my first place had the sink separate from the toilet and shower/bath. It's because it had a vanity station. The master bathroom in my second childhood home was the same. My mom liked it because she could do her hair as my dad got cleaned up.

Dh and Ds golfed this morning and stopped for a late lunch on the way home, so Im assuming that the corned beef and cabbage I am making will go uneaten today. 🤷🏼♀️ Now you don’t have to cook tomorrow 👍🏻 bc2ca our bathrooms only separate the actual toilet from the rest of the bathroom. To me a bigger room seems better with both sinks. My kids would just go to the bathroom in one of the other bathrooms if their sister was in theirs. Love your picture **GypsyGirl**Made breaded chicken cutlets with salad, green beans and baked potatoes. For dessert we had leftover cake from Luke’s 3rd birthday. I can’t believe he’s 3.

We spent the day doing various things and we both have good memories of those days. It was great time to grow as a couple. That's a sweet photo of the two of you.
