I realized that I'm sometimes guilty of not reading everyone's responses to a thread, even when it's one I'm really interested in, and post on. I'm making an effort to do better.
So, do you read all the replies?

Usually I do read the whole thread. I make a point to read it before I reply, especially if it has gone to a couple of pages.

It depends on the thread. If someone is looking for an answer, I will read until I see what I would have said. If the answer has already been posted, I will move on. It drives me nuts when someone asks a question that has a specific answer, and 30 people post the exact same thing. It’s different if they are asking for opinions that may vary, though.

Depends upon the topic. I see no reason to read every reply saying"Get well." If a pea asks for a solution to a problem, if someone else gives the response I would have given, I move on.

I read the whole thread before posting.
Not so much here, but it drives me nuts on Nextdoor when someone asks “What is this?” and 30 people reply “Monarch butterfly”. And they still reply 4 days later. 😂

Yes I always read through the replies before replying myself.

I don't read lengthy replies. Some members of our group like to go into detail, which I totally respect but don't have the patience for. So if it's a short response, I read it.
ETA: I read all responses on threads I start.

I usually read through all the replies. I really miss the old days when the board was much busier, so I fill time reading all the replies.

I realized that I'm sometimes guilty of not reading everyone's responses to a thread, even when it's one I'm really interested in, and post on. I'm making an effort to do better. So, do you read all the replies? It depends. I do try my best to read all of the replies on any thread that I start. Although I do tend to keep an eye on them for just a few days, so if someone finds my thread a week or two later, then I may miss that. As for general threads, even if I am very interested in them, again, I tend to follow them only for so long. Sometimes I start to feel like I'm repeating myself or agreeing with others to a point that it may come across as being overly pushy about my opinion, so then I try to back off. (My apologies for all of the examples people are now thinking about where I failed to that. ) And sometimes, it's just that everyone seems to be saying basically the same things, so again, I tend to stop going back to those threads, too. If a thread is just asking a question or request (Would you eat this? Can you please vote for XYZ? How should I stop chewing my nails?) then I often just give my answer or state that I've done whatever was being requested, and that's it. If the question is one that might apply to me and my life or hobbies (Do you have any interesting root vegetable recipes? How about that TV show XYZ? Do you have any favorite children's books?) then I will likely read more of the replies because I'd like to learn about or talk about that subject, too. But overall, no, I do not tend to read all replies on any threads other than the ones I personally start. (I should perhaps point out that I do not read this board on any sort of mobile device. So I am not in a position to check for new replies while waiting for an appt., or waiting in a car pick-up line, or while a kid is at soccer practice, etc. If I did check in on a phone, then I'd probably read more replies. )

Oh, and I do check my notifications each day I'm here, and I try to check back on any thread where I was quoted in case it was the type of post that is looking for a reply.

I do read all the replies. That's why I don't often post because someone else has usually said it better and I just like their response. Sometimes I just skim the long replies.

I more scan them than read them usually. Sometimes I read everything, depends on the topic.

I'm a little all over the place with my reading and replying.
Reading the whole thread....it depends on the topic.
I usually read the first post, then I reply (that way I don't see the other answers and replies....before I give my opinion, reply, answer, etc...). Then I read the rest of the thread (or not).
Some threads I never go back to. Some threads I go back and read all the replies and sometimes I add further commentary. Some threads I read only and I don't reply, because I don't want to engage with the members who are only there to stir the pot and cause drama.
My participation is based on the amount of free time that I have, and it varies from day to day.

I'm hit or miss. I read all of some threads, not so others.

Nearly always. I don’t want to be one of those who answers the OP’s original question without seeing that more info has been added further on for example and my answer is now irrelevant.

It depends on the thread and the situation. Sometimes someone will ask for prayers and/or positive vibes. I hate to read and run, so I always post and don't always read each post. The peas looking for advice, I always read all the comments first.

I skim a lot. Lengthy responses that don't use paragraphs I typically don't read.

Skim all, read a lot of the posts, some posts I tend to ignore—oh who’s kidding, I generally read all it but won’t post unless I am motivated to.

It's funny that you posted this question. I was just reading a thread and someone had posted an answer/reason in one of the first few posts, but still people further down were commenting on the OP expressing the same surprise/questions, and obviously hadn't read the explanation a few posts up. ETA: I should point out that I have been guilty several times of posting before reading the whole thread!

Usually I do, but sometimes I skip to the end and just read the last several posts to make sure there hasn't been some change in topic before I post.

I generally do read all of the posts in case more info has been added or clarifications made since the OP. Also if someone else has already said what I would have, I’ll either or not post depending on how much time I have at the moment.

It depends on the subject.. if I post something I make an effort to read the replies, since I am the one posting. But all in all it depends. I have not read the responses to this thread. Once I post, then I go through and read. Usually skim but again, depending on subject. There are certain responses ones that I automatically skip over - not being mean, but some responses only need a short response and some get VERY long. I tend to skip those when short answers are all I need.

I'm here to admit that I don't always skim through the entire thread before answering--especially if it's more than 2 pages long. I know, I know! It's been 22 years, and I've only improved on that bad habit as opposed to actually stopping. Sorry!
