Anyone else use cnn.com for their news? It's gotten so that in order to read many of their articles, you need to pay for a subscription. I can't stand it. Anyone else noticed? What are you switching over to?

I have noticed that and I dont like it at all. I feel like we are being nickel and dimed to death with needing a subscription for everything

I'm not experiencing that. At least not yet - but I don't go to that website very often.

It’s been garbage for a long time. A few good articles, then the rest of the page filled with clickbait. I stopped reading it a long time ago.

I got that a few months ago. A twitter search revealed that it's a test. You proceed like you are going to subscribe and they tell you that they are just verifying you would be willing to pay for quality journalism.

I haven't been asked for a subscription but the home page for me looks like a ragsheet, lots of advertising "articles" and not much of any of the true articles. I am not sure where to go next.

News sites that don’t require a subscription mostly devolve into clickbait farms.
Check out NPR for accurate reporting that doesn’t require a subscription. They’re listener/reader supported, so no need for clickbait.

I guess I will be finding somewhere else to get my news...
The other day I wanted to watch a movie on Netflix and it wouldn't let me because I "only" pay for the plan with ads. I'm really getting fed up with having to sign up/pay extra for everything.

What are you switching over to? Go to an Incognito Tab in Google. You don't get asked to pay for a subscription there. I have been doing this for 2 weeks now.

The few times I've gone to CNN's website recently I haven't noticed that. But I don't go there often because CNN is on my blacklist for how they give trump a pass on things they call Biden out on. Now I mostly do NPR or BBC. I like BBC for non-American news, and trump-free news stories. I mean, yes you can find trump on BBC. But you can choose to focus on world news rather than our domestic mess.

I can’t speak to CNN in particular. But I’m trying to figure out how we expect quality journalism to survive in a world where we don’t buy newspapers or magazines, don’t want to see too many ads, and refuse to pay for news online.
Keep it up and there will be NO in-depth coverage of anything, no news we can really trust.

Yea, I noticed. Shame on them. I won’t bite. There’s too much free news out there to pay for it
