If you do pray. Do you just talk to your God or recite specific prayers you learned? I pretty much just talk to God but wondering if I’m doing it wrong.

I just talk in my head (or cry or scream) to God. I've also used journaling as my prayer but that didn't really last for me.

I dont think there is any "wrong" way to pray. Your relationship with a higher power is yours and yours alone. No one gets to dictate what that looks like.

I use a mix of specific prayers and just talking to God.
But I'll agree with the others - there isn't a right or wrong way. Your relationship with God is yours and whatever feels right to you as far as prayer is fine - I suspect God is just happy to hear from you.

There isn't a wrong way to pray.
I'm like you, I just talk to Him. I kind of follow the ACTS format though
Adoration - I praise Him for who He is and what He has done Confession - I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness Thanksgiving - I thank Him for forgiving my sins and for other blessings and answered prayers Supplication - I pray for my needs and for others - in other words - my prayer requests.
I'm not formal in anyway, I just talk to him like I would talk to anyone. God knows your heart and anyway you pray is totally fine with Him, He just wants to hear from you and have that relationship with you.

Like the others say there isn't a wrong way.. it's a conversation between you and God and no one else. I grew up chanting certain prayers and it was never just a conversation. I never felt connected by just chanting prayers. Now, usually my time is right before going to sleep (although that isn't always a good idea because I will fall asleep..lol) Do you you feel in your heart. If saying certain prayers help, then that is right for you.. just a regular conversation is your thing.. go for it.. Even though I am not Catholic anymore, even the few times I go into a Catholic church (I just did on vacation in New Orleans to the St. Louis Cathedral) I found peace just sitting there and taking it all in.

Pray begins and ends my days. I like using a version of Morning Prayer from the Episcopal tradition to begin each day, and I end with the following prayer which a friend taught me many years ago. I will share it here in the hopes that perhaps it will be useful to someone: “Dear Lord, You know the way I live, all I’ve done amiss, please forgive. All the good I’ve tried to do, Strengthen, Bless, and carry through. Those I love in safety keep (and I name each one) While in Thee, we fall asleep. AMEN”

Hi, I do a combination of praying while walking in the morning. This is where I just talk to God with the concerns past, present and future. I pray for my family, for the neighborhood, the people that pass by. Then later in the day, I read the Bible and if a verse jumps at me, I put that in my prayer journal to pray for someone. I find that using Scriptures is a great jumping point when I don't know what to pray. Our family suffered a loss recently. Revelation 21:4-5 gave comfort: "[God] will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And He who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

I just talk to God as well. There really isn’t a wrong way to talk to your Savior. He knows we are human and accepts and forgives. Sometimes guided prayers can help in getting started when you don’t know where to start. The Lord’s Prayer is good for that to jump off from.

I’m a morning devotion woman and I really like The Bible App You Version. There is a new morning devotion every day and I have the sense that God is truly present as I go through the prompts.
I often speak to Him throughout the day.
As I tumble into bed @ night, lol, usually a prayer verse such as, “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone Lord make me dwell in safety. Amen”
And so He is with me all day 🙂

I don't necessarily consider myself a Christian. I was raised very Christian, so my idea of God follows pretty close to what I was taught as a child I suppose. I just don't align myself with a specific church or church family. I have a hard time thinking the lutherans, baptists, etc., have cornered the market on what it means to believe.
My prayers of frustration or asking why are very conversational and I'm not afraid to cuss from time to time. I am not afraid to question or rant. I figure God has a thick skin.
My prayers of thankfulness are more to acknowledge my guardian angel or spirit when I have have a near miss, find something I had been looking for or some other moment that obviously has some higher power input giving out a "ooh nice one..thank you".
My prayers "for" something are more imagery I think. If I'm praying for a sick friend, I really just picture them and try to send love or healing in my mind. If I'm praying for something for me or my family like wisdom or how to handle a situation, I just try to be still and picture that problem or situation again in my mind and just breathe through that. If I do use words, its more a mantra like heal or love or patience or thank you or whatever. I don't pray for world peace or things like that though.
I also don't do any of these regularly. I do them when I feel like it and when something happens. I don't have a regular before I go to bed type schedule.

I try to follow biblical examples of prayers—and there are a lot of different ones.
There’s Abraham somewhat respectfully arguing with God over destroying a city, bartering him down like he’s buying a wallet in Tijuana.
There’s David begging for forgiveness after causing an innocent man’s life, the mighty King, so favored by God and man, completely humbled and heartbroken.
There’s Hannah, praying to have a son so earnestly that she is mistaken for drunk by the Haughty High Priest Eli. (She was a mother a year later).
And there was Daniel, whose routine was to pray at his window 3 times a day, and did not stop even when a law forbade it and he ended up in the lion’s den.
So I try to incorporate these kind of qualities into my communication with Him.

Well I do both. I do some of the standard prayers (like The Lord's Prayer) or the blessing before a meal, but I also just talk to him like I am having a conversation with a good friend. I don't think there is a wrong way to pray. God knows what is in our heart, IMO.

I just talk to God like he’s my best friend. Anything I would talk to her about I can talk to Him about. I like to make sure to give thanks for things, people in my life or prayers that have been answered, etc. Sometimes I set time aside for praying and pray about specific things and sometimes it’s a one sentence prayer as I’m driving or in the grocery store. I also believe that worship is a form of prayer, so when I’m listening to worship music I will sometimes just throw out one word prayers. All in my head of course. I also feel that it’s important to worship with our prayer. For example “You are the God of all creation and goodness”. I’ve also learned to pray certain verses that really mean something to me. I’m a Christian so this may not apply to what others believe.
